I’m Tosha Williams, and I’m sharing a simple framework that has shaped how I walk with God and how I disciple the people He’s placed in my everyday life. The rhythm is listen, linger, lead. We listen for God’s voice as we draw near through Scripture and prayer. We linger in His presence long enough for Him to form us, not just inspire us. Then we lead by letting what He’s doing in us flow outward in conversations, relationships, parenting, mentoring, and ordinary moments where faith becomes visible. In this Destination Decisions conversation, Lies or Truth?, we press into the tension we all recognize:  how quickly “little lies” become normal, and why Scripture treats truth not as a preference, but a path. Rooted in Proverbs 12:22, we explore what it means that the Lord delights in people who are trustworthy, and how repeated choices slowly train the heart toward either clarity or confusion.

This episode helps families name what’s really at stake. Lies don’t just damage trust; they make us vulnerable to deception. Truth, practiced consistently, forms discernment, confidence, and freedom. We contrast the enemy’s aim as the father of lies with Jesus’ own words: “I am the Way and the Truth.” Direction matters—and so does destination.

These form a simple, sturdy framework for everyday devotion-driven discipleship. Now we come to the conclusion of this collection and consider the consequences of praying like this. We name the pushback that shows up when people start praying for prodigals, for light in dark places, and for courage in the face of spiritual resistance. Instead of shrinking back, we learn to press in and pray big. Each of us are encouraged to build small, consistent practices that open space for God to move: family prayers that are short and sincere, a church “encounter room,” text threads that intercede by name, and rhythms that keep our focus on God’s presence rather than our performance.

The heart of our conversation is practical and hopeful. Prayer isn’t a backup plan; it’s the bridge where heaven meets here, where glory meets grit, where transfiguration becomes transformation. In this "Transfiguration Prayer" conversation, Tosha Williams points us to Jesus' example. From the mountain’s radiant glory to the garden’s heavy night, Jesus shows us what true surrender looks like. He teaches that prayer isn’t always about escaping pain, but ultimately trusting the Father’s plan with a yielded heart.

Strength doesn’t flow from having it all together; it comes from time with Jesus, who is the One who steadies fragile faith and restores calling. Jesus said to Peter, “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” (Luke 22:31–32, NIV)

In this episode, we look at Peter’s example to learn what it means to be strengthened by Jesus in prayer—and then how to strengthen others through prayer. On the shoreline, Jesus asked him three times, “Do you love Me?”—not to shame him, but to send him.  "Feed My sheep" then became Peter’s calling: receive strength, then give it away. Turns out, Peter learned what Jesus showed him in faith and prayer, and now we can learn from Peter.

In this episode of Transfiguration Prayer: Where Heaven Meets Here, Tosha Williams leads us to look at the prophet Elijah’s journey from Mount Carmel to the Mount of Transfiguration and discover how his hidden life with God produced public courage that turned hearts back. Elijah’s story teaches us that faith grows in the asking and strengthens in the believing, especially when our prayers aim for God’s glory rather than our own wins.

Step by step, we trace Elijah’s believing prayers: oil that never ran out, a child raised, a nation called back. Each miracle points to Jesus’ words in Mark 11:24:  “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, BELIEVE that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Together we will look at Elijah's example and consider how to live that kind of faith today. We want to guard against name-it-claim-it shortcuts while still taking Jesus at His Word and letting expectancy shape how we ask. Along the way, we talk about how private communion fuels public courage, how panic gives way to peace in God’s presence, and how steady trust becomes contagious faith that others can see and follow.

From there, we lift our eyes beyond the prophet to Christ. On the Mount of Transfiguration, the Father says, “Listen to Him,” redirecting our focus to the One who fulfills everything Mount Carmel foreshadowed. Jesus doesn’t just call down fire; He becomes the sacrifice that bridges the gap and turns hearts back for good.

That’s why devotion-driven discipleship matters. When our Seek Him becomes our Speak Him, legacy takes root. Children, friends, and neighbors learn to believe God for more because they see it in us.

From mountain to mission, Moses came down to face the golden calf crisis. Instead of retreating or raging, Moses stood in the breach, reminding God of His promises and pleading for mercy. Moses is a beautiful example of what Paul reminded Timothy to do in prayer:  “I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people.” (1 Timothy 2:1).

I WILLS TO INSTILL:  "I WILL Speak Him"

“And on that day you will say, ‘Give thanks to the LORD; proclaim his name! Make his works known among the peoples. Declare that his name is exalted.’” Isaiah 12:4 CSB

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives!  In this conversation, let’s process what it means to make our faith more than just a private experience. Isaiah 12:4 reminds us that, as followers of Jesus, we don’t just keep God’s goodness to ourselves—we speak Him by sharing what He has done in our lives.

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture?  This verse talks about a day when God establishes Jesus on His throne. Thing is, if He is on the throne of our hearts, then that day can occur today. In multiple ways, God’s people can “Speak Him,” making Him known through our words. ~ What are the different kinds of speech referred to in this verse? What do His works include in your life? Is Jesus ruling your heart now?  
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? If we don’t talk about what matters to us, how will others know? Jesus’ command “Go make disciples… teach them to obey everything I have commanded you,” requires words. We can exalt His name through our testimonies and make His works known through our Jesus stories. ~ How does it feel to talk about Jesus to someone else? How can speaking about your faith strengthen it?  
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? We don’t have to hammer people with the Bible. We don’t have to be rude, unloving or know it alls. “I Will Speak Him” is a decision to seize every opportunity to speak up about the Lord and His Word. This may be as brief as a few words or as long as a heart-to-heart conversation. ~ What intimidates you about speaking up about Jesus?  

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! “Seek Him” should always lead to “Speak Him.” Speaking about God is not just for pastors or missionaries—it is for every believer! This week, let’s look for opportunities to share how God has been at work in our lives. Whether through a simple conversation, a prayer with a friend, or a post on social media, let’s choose to speak Him!

I WILL’S TO INSTILL // Convo #3:  I Will Seek Him

“You will joyfully draw water from the springs of salvation.’” Isaiah 12:3 CSB

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! With the Family Disciple Me ministry, our motto is “Seek Him Speak Him.” Let’s spend some time with the Lord in Isaiah 12:3 about what it means to “Seek Him.” 

WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? To draw water is to bring it up from the depths bucket by bucket. In the same way, Scripture by Scripture, truth by truth, principle by principle, day by day, God wants us to go to His wellsprings of life and seek Him. ~ Have you received God’s salvation; when, why, how? Look up “how to get water from a well with a bucket” and think about the intentionality it takes to get water this way. How does this help you better understand what it means to “Seek Him.”

WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? To draw water requires effort, intentionality, work and determination. In ancient times, this was essential to physical life, something to be done every single day. ~ How often do you make the effort to spend time with the Lord each day? If joy is the measure of how much you “Seek Him,” how joyful are you? 

HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? The springs of salvation are available to all of us; the question is what we choose to do with this resource. We draw water when we daily decide to seek the Lord in our lives. ~ What is God saying to you personally about seeking Him? In what ways are you determined to “Seek Him”? Read Psalm 36:5-9 and listen to what God says to you through it. 

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! As we are filled with the life-giving, soul-nourishing water from God’s springs of salvation, will you stay quiet or let your bucket-full overflow into someone else’s life?

“Indeed, God is my salvation; I will trust him and not be afraid, for the LORD, the LORD himself, is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation.” Isaiah 12:2 CSB

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! A new year is filled with knowns and unknowns. And, while we can make plans, we can’t choose everything about our lives. What we can choose is our mindset for living. Let's see how Isaiah 12:2 encourages us to say “I Will Trust God.”  

WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? This verse is about at least two things:  God’s character and our response. God tells us He is entirely capable of being our salvation, strength and song. He won't force these gifts upon us, though. Instead He lets us choose what we will do with all He offers us. ~ Have you accepted God’s gift of salvation? If so, are you living by His strength or your own?  

WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? We have a daily choice:  to live with fear and anxiety, or to trust God with our lives. God’s Word promises, “The one who trusts in the Lord will be happy,” (Proverbs 16:20b). You can know if you’re trusting God by examining whether stress or a song is echoing through your heart. ~ What do you need to trust God about today? How can trusting God lead to happiness? When you experience an unhelpful thought or emotion, how can you trust God with it? 

HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Trusting God means that, no matter what happens, we choose to rely on His character and promises. This determined decision echoes the verse, “In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid.” (Psalm 56:4 CSB). ~ How can you praise God when you’re going through something hard? How are you actively letting go of fear so you can hold onto trusting God’s character and promises?

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! A person who really, truly trusts God won’t be afraid to speak up about it. Jesus said, “I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters; in the assembly I will sing your praises. And again, ‘I will put my trust in him.’” (Hebrews 2:12-13a NIV). We can follow Jesus’ example and “Speak Him” to all those watching our lives. Who is watching you, and will you speak about your trust in Him today?

“On that day you will say:  ‘I will give thanks to you, Lord, although you were angry with me. Your anger has turned away, and you have comforted me.’” Isaiah 12:1 CSB

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! We live in a world of what we can’t do, could do, might do, ought to do, or should do. However, as we begin a new year, let’s talk about what we will do. This is about our deliberate desire to initiate action in our lives. Let’s seek God about this, starting with the mindset, “I Will Give Thanks.”  

WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture?  Isaiah 12:1 is a prophecy about how God’s people will respond when Messiah begins to reign. Their first reaction will be to thank and praise God. ~ What is something you are determined to do this new year? Is Jesus in ruling in your life right now; why or why not? 

WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? Gratitude affects our perspective about everything, including how we see God. Sometimes God gets angry over things that should make us angry, too - things like dishonesty (Proverbs 11:1), injustice (Proverbs 17:15), and wickedness (Romans 1:18). We can focus on what we don’t like about Him, or we can seek to understand Him and His ways. ~ Is there something about God that you don’t like or understand? Is He doing anything in your life right now for which you can be thankful? Has He comforted you in any way?  

HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Scripture says, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NIV). God’s will is for us to focus our will on Him with thankfulness and gratitude. ~ What if this month we start each day intentionally thanking God for something? What can you thank God for right now? 

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! A thankful heart is one that looks to see the blessings rather than the burdens, the miracles instead of the mess, God’s Presence instead of the problems. What we “will to instill” in our own lives is what we can then instill into those entrusted to us. If you determine “I WILL Give Thanks” this new year, then let your grateful heart impact someone else today.

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! Christmas is known as the happiest time of the year, but what about the rest of the year? What gives us true happiness? Thing is, Jesus came at Christmas bringing the gift of His presence. This can fill us with joy at Christmas and always. Let’s spend some time unwrapping the gift of joy through His Word!

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? God doesn’t just give occasional joy; He promises to fill us up with joy as we stay close to Him. He helps us know what paths to follow, and He gives us joy as we walk with Him along the way. ~ Does God sound like a generous gift giver in our key verse? What stands out to you from our verse? Where is joy found? 
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? The truth of our key verse mattered so much to the Apostle Peter that he recited it in his testimony centuries later (Acts 2:28). Joy in God’s presence has mattered to generations of His people, and we can choose for this to matter to us, too. ~ How does this verse encourage you? What does God’s presence feel like to you? What type of path do you want to walk?
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Each of us gets to decide every day whether or not we will stay close to Jesus. Being in His presence means being mindful of Him, relying on Him, talking to Him and spending time with Him in His Word. This is His path that keeps us close to Him and will result in giving us joy. ~ How are you choosing to stay close to Jesus? How much joy do you have today? 

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! After Christmas, we put away the decorations, but the joy of God’s presence can decorate our lives all year long. As we “Seek Him,” we can pray with joy (Philippians 1:4), ask for more joy (Psalm 86:4) and sing with joy, because “The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with joy” (Psalm 126:2a, 3 NIV). God’s gift of joy is always available, and we can “open” this gift and experience His joy again and again. What’s more, our joy with Him can overflow so that we “Speak Him” and share His joy with others, at Christmastime and always.

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives!  The world offers all kinds of gifts labeled “love,” but God’s faithful love is entirely unique. As we look at “The Gifts of Christmas," let’s "unwrap" God's gift of love and seek Him about how He loves us!

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? God is good and gives really good gifts. We can see His generosity in so many ways. God’s greatest gift is His love that never stops. The people of Israel rejoiced in this, as the leaders would proclaim "Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good," and then name a way God showed His love. After each gift, the people would respond:  "His faithful love endures forever."  ~ What are some gifts you’ve received that have stopped working? Name some ways God has helped you. What can you thank God for right now?
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? While other gifts wear out or break, God’s love always lasts. Scripture says, “Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life…” (Psalm 23:6a NIV). Every single day, God’s love follows us, not just at Christmas, but always. Long after even the best presents are forgotten, the gift of God’s love will still be ours. ~ Can you imagine fifty years from now? What does it feel like to know that even years from today, God will still be loving you? 
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? “The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace” Psalm 29:11 NIV

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! Jesus said, “In this world you will have trouble,” and even in the best of times like Christmas, life can be challenging. However, God gives us a special gift, for in the same verse Jesus also said, “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have PEACE” (John 16:33 NIV). Jesus came to bring peace, so let’s “Seek Him” about this gift.

WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? God gives His people so many gifts, including, as our key verse says, the gift of peace. This peace is God’s blessing for those who belong to Him. His peace is not just an occasional experience when life is good; it’s His gift of completeness and wholeness throughout our lives. ~ According to our key verse, who receives God's gift of peace? Are you one of God’s people? Where do you need God’s peace today? 

WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? The world teaches us that peace is the absence of problems; God’s Word teaches us that peace is His gift in spite of problems. Jesus promised: “PEACE I leave with you; my PEACE I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid” (John 14:27 NIV). ~ What’s the hardest thing you've gone through? What does Jesus say about this? Why can you trust Him in hard times?

HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Scripture says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the PEACE of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7 NIV). Instead of fixating on hard things, God wants us to talk to Him about these. ~ What must we give God in order to receive His peace? Is there something making you anxious or afraid right now? Let's pray!

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! One of God’s promises to those who “Seek Him” is:  “All your children will be taught by the Lord, and great will be their peace” (Isaiah 54:13 NIV). As we learn to unwrap God’s gift of peace, others can learn from our example. This Christmas and always, let’s be sure to spend time being taught by the Lord. As He fills us with His peace, then our loved ones can learn to experience His peace, too!

“The Lord is good to those whose HOPE is in him, to the one who seeks him” Lamentations 3:25 NIV

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! The Bible teaches us that God gives us a gift that He wants us to anticipate, look for and hold onto, not just at Christmastime, but throughout life. Let’s “Seek Him” in this conversation for what He wants to show us about His gift of HOPE! 

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? Just like we anticipate the fun of Christmas, God wants us to anticipate what He is going to do. This kind of watchful expectation is called HOPE! God promises goodness and blessing to people who hope in Him and seek Him, and this is something we can all do! ~ What are you looking forward to this Christmas? How hard is it to wait? What are you looking forward to God doing in your life? How are waiting and hoping similar?
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? Sometimes we may be disappointed by other hopes and expectations, but God promises:  “I am the Lord; those who HOPE in me will not be disappointed” (Isaiah 49:23b). When we anticipate how God is going to work in our lives, and when we wait expectantly for Him to fulfill His promises, we can know that He will always, always, always do what He has said He will do.” ~ How does this truth encourage you? What is a promise from God that gives you hope?
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Each of us can choose to watch, wait and hope in the Lord, saying:  “As for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me” (Micah 7:7). We “unwrap” God’s gift of hope as we experience His answers to our prayers, His help in hard times, and the fulfillment of His promises. ~ Do you really believe that God hears you? How does knowing God sees and hears you give you hope?

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! Scripture says, “In your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the HOPE that you have…” (1 Peter 3:15). Thing is, as we unwrap hope, we shouldn’t just keep it to ourselves. We can share God’s hope with our families, and we can also be prepared to share God’s hope with others He places in our paths. Be encouraged to share the gift of God’s hope intentionally in Devotion Driven Discipleship with those He entrusts to you.

Zion:  Celebrate God’s Presence

“Sing to the Lord, for he has done glorious things. Let this be known throughout the earth. Cry out and sing, citizen of ZION, for the Holy One of Israel is among you in his greatness.” Isaiah 12:5-6 CSB

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives!  Christ followers can rejoice because God is with us! Let’s “Seek Him” about how the truth of ZION leads us in “Ways to Praise.”

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? God's children are citizens of a heavenly city, and, as we are on our journey there, God is with us here every step of the way! The biblical concept of Zion refers to His presence now and in eternity. ~ What is something special God has done in your life?  What is something glorious God has done in your life?
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? Each of us has sadness, sorrows and pain in our lives, but the reality of Zion is not just future tense. For believers, God is with us now, and this reality can bring us joy today no matter what’s happening in our lives! ~ What about the hope of Zion encourages you today? Read aloud the six verses of Isaiah 12. What about this chapter speaks to joy and celebration? 
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth?Isaiah 12 is about thanksgiving for God’s many gifts, including comfort and salvation, joy and strength. Scripture says, “You have come to Mount Zion, to the city of the living God... to myriads of angels, a festive gathering” (Hebrews 12:22 CSB). When earth touches heaven, the result is celebration. Scripture promises, “The ransomed of the LORD will return and come to Zion with singing, crowned with unending joy. Joy and gladness will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee” (Isaiah 35:10 CSB). ~ What happens to the sorrow and sighing of Zion's citizens? What are some ways you can praise God right now? 

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! Psalm 48 concludes, “Walk about Zion, go around her, count her towers, consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that you may tell of them to the next generation. For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end” (‭‭Psalms‬ ‭48‬:‭12‬-‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬). What are YOU telling the next generation about God’s presence? As you consider Zion, "Seek Him Speak Him!"

“Be filled by the Spirit: speaking to one another in PSALMS, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything…” Ephesians 5:18b-20 CSB

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! Let’s celebrate Thanksgiving with some psalms of praise this year. 

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? A psalm is a biblical song, poem, declaration or prayer. The book of Psalms is the Jewish worship manual, and Christians are invited to use it in our worship, too! Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs can lead us in so many “Ways to Praise.” Singing is an outer expression of this praise, while making music with your heart is an inner expression of it. God wants us to do both! ~ How or when do YOU give thanks? What does it look like for you to live a life of worship? 
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? Every psalm in God’s Word somehow, someway, declares God’s character. For instance, we can trust God because He is faithful (Psalm 1:6). We can rejoice because He is sovereign over everything in this world (Psalm 2:11-12), and so on. Thing is, when we are filled with His Spirit, what’s on the inside will pour out in declarations like the psalms. ~ What does God's Word say about His Spirit in you (John 14:15-17)? How does praising God put music in your heart?
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? The psalms are such a meaningful, simple and beautiful way to praise the Lord. Ask God to highlight a psalm to you, then read it silently as a prayer and aloud as a declaration. ~ How do psalms lead to gratitude? What is one character trait of God that is especially meaningful to you? 

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! Seek Him Speak Him" is so clearly shown in our key Scripture. Quite literally, the Word tells us to speak with psalms and give thanks. We don't just believe in God; we speak up about Him. To whom will you talk about Jesus and declare His character today?

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! We all enjoy good news, and the good news of Jubilee is redemption, hope and freedom. As we look at “Ways to Praise," let’s seek the Lord about how He wants us to join the Jubilee then proclaim the good news of His favor to others!

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? Isaiah summarized what Jubilee is all about:  healing, liberty, freedom, and goodness from God. “To proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor” is to let others know about God’s gifts, so they can be invited into these blessings, too. ~ What are some of the blessings listed in our key verses? Has God given you any of these this past year? Have you told someone else about this favor? 
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? We all want blessing and goodness in our lives, and the way God gives these is through Jesus. This is good news we can experience with Him today as we seek Him. ~ In what ways does healing for the brokenhearted matter to you? What kind of freedom would you love to experience or see?  What are you experiencing with Jesus today?
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? This Scripture says, "The Lord has anointed me to bring good news." This calling is on all of us who follow Christ, because He told us to go tell others everything He’s taught us (Matthew 28:20). So think about what He has done in your life this past year. Sharing your Jesus Story is one way you can proclaim His favor! ~ Have you experienced any blessings from God this year? What freedom, hope or redemption has He given you? How can you share this good news ?

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! There is so much to learn about the Jubilee celebration, but, for now, let’s focus on talking about the good news of God’s favor. To proclaim something is to make it famous so others can hear about it. As you consider the good news of all that Jesus has done in your life, how will you “praise the Lord” and make Him more famous this week?

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! While praise may seem obvious at Thanksgiving, let’s look at it from some slightly different angles this month, starting with these first couple verses in Psalm 146. Seek the Lord about what He wants to say to you about praise and thanksgiving!

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? This psalm which models intentional praise and thankfulness. Praise flowed from the author's innermost being, and this person pledged to praise, not just for a day or holiday, but for all life long. ~ Do you praise God from your very core; why or why not? How long have you praised Him? What are some of the things this psalmist praised God for in Psalm 146? 
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? Praise changes the focus of our hearts, gets our eyes off ourselves and sets our attention on the One who can help us. Praise will change our hearts from bitter to better, from hopeless to happy, from grumbling to grateful. ~ Are you more grumbling or grateful? Do you need any heart change this Thanksgiving season? 
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Psalm 146 is a testimony of how one person praised the Lord and why they praised Him. Godly praise calls forth godly praise, and we’re going to talk about ways to praise in the coming days. ~ How is God asking you to respond right now?

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! Thanksgiving season is a great time to welcome others into praising God with us! Psalm 34:3 says, “Oh magnify the LORD with me. Let us exalt his name together.” Who can you say this to? Who will you invite into the “Ways to Praise” conversations? Be intentional about that this month, using one of the "Ways to Praise" conversations each week!

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! Everyone has been given something, but not everyone is responsible with these blessings. What about us? Are we using well what we’ve been given? Let’s consider what Jesus said about being a responsible steward in Matthew 25.

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? In Matthew 25:14-30, Jesus taught a parable about being responsible and wise with what we’ve been given. - Take a few moments to read Matthew 25:14-30. Describe some ways people used their gifts. What types of people get talents and gifts? What are some things that have been entrusted to you:  time, money, resources, opportunities, health, education… 
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? We are to be good stewards or caretakers of what God has given us. Everything belongs to Him, and whether or not we use well what He's given us will determine whether or not He will give us more. ~ According to this passage, how does God feel about us wasting what He’s given us? Does wastefulness matter to you; why or why not?What is God's measure for whether or not He is going to give us more? 
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? God entrusts us with more as He sees us be responsible with what He has already given us. If we want more abundance in our lives, then we must intentionally be responsible with the abundance He has already given. ~ What are some ways you're taking care of what God has given you?  Name three ways you can better steward what you’ve been given. 

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! God has entrusted each of us with people, time and opportunities. How are we being responsible with these blessings? Are we using well the opportunities He’s given us to invest in those we love? Thing is, meaningful, intentional discipleship conversations about God and His Word are an investment in today and in eternity. Speak Him!

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! We live in a world where people lie, deceive, cheat and steal, all the while with smiles on their faces. Sometimes it’s hard to know who to trust, isn’t it? Thing is, though others around us may lack integrity, God wants His children to be trustworthy. Let’s “Seek Him” about this character trait through Luke 16:10. 

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture? The word trusted in this verse is about being faithful, reliable and honest. The Bible says that having this sort of character in small things shows whether or not we’ll have this sort of character in big areas of our lives. ~ What are some small things in your life right now? Why does Scripture say these little details matter? What about something like little white lies -  can you be a trustworthy person with these? (Why or why not?)
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? God is trustworthy; He is always faithful, reliable, honest and true. He wants us to have these character traits in our lives, too. When we choose to be trustworthy people, we follow His example and show the world a picture of what He is like. ~ Does it matter to you to be known as a trustworthy person; why or why not? Do you believe God is trustworthy? What are some ways He has earned your trust?
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Details matter, even the smallest details. So we can practice being trustworthy in all the little details, as so that we will know how to be trustworthy in the big things. This applies to every area of life, so we always have opportunities to learn and grow in this character trait. ~ How are you seeking to earn others’ trust? Are you true to your word? What is one way you have integrity when no one is looking? What makes you a trustworthy person?

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! Speaking of trust, God has entrusted every single one of us with other people. That means He’s placed them in our care, for His glory and their good. Are you trustworthy with this? If so, what are you investing in the precious ones entrusted to you?

Thing is, God wants His children to find their confidence in Him and His work in us. Let’s “Seek Him” starting with Philippians 1:6 about this character trait of being confident.

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture?  To be confident is to be persuaded and convinced about a specific truth. For a Christ follower, that truth is that God started a good work in us and promises to finish it through us. ~ What are some ways that people typically get confidence? Are you one of God’s children? What are two good things He has started in you? 
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? Confidence for a Christian is not just about being sure of who you are, but being sure about what God is doing in and through you. As we follow Him, God wants us to be convinced that He is at work in every aspect of our lives. Jeremiah 17:7 says, “Blessed is the one who trusts in the LORD, whose confidence is in him.” ~ What are you placing your confidence in? What does this look like in your life?
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? We can be confident in meeting life’s challenges by leaning into our relationship with the LORD and asking His strength. ~ Read Psalm 27 and list the areas in which God’s strength helped David be confident. Which of these can apply to your life? How is God calling you to place your confidence in Him? 

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! As we grow with the Lord in being teachable, hard working and courageous, He will begin to fill us with confidence to do what He has created and called us to do. This includes speaking Him into the lives of others He has entrusted to us. Who can you encourage in the Lord today? Who can you inspire to be confident in Him?

Without a doubt, every one of us has moments and seasons of discomfort, distress and even danger. How do we respond? What character trait defines us? Let’s consider what God said to Joshua in this Scripture and “Seek Him” about what He’s saying about courage to us!

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture?  Instead of being fearful or discouraged, God wanted Joshua to live with strength and courage no matter where he went. ~ What makes you afraid or discouraged today? According to Matthew 28:20, is God’s promise to Joshua true for you, too? 
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? Courage is the ability to do what God has called you to do no matter what. ~ What is God calling you to do no matter what? How does knowing God is with you help you face the hard parts of this?
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? Psalm 31:24 encourages us, “Be strong, and let your heart be courageous, all you who put your hope in the Lord” (CSB). We will find our greatest courage, not in the depths of ourselves, but in the Lord. As we look to Him, our reserves of strength and courage are filled by Him. That’s when we’re able to live out all that He’s called us to do no matter what. ~ How have you been trying to fill your courage tank? How does God want you to fill it? Where is He leading you that will require all the courage you can get from Him?

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! Before God spoke Joshua 1:9 directly to Joshua, Moses had already challenged Joshua with this in Deuteronomy 31:6, saying “to him in the sight of all Israel, ‘Be strong and courageous…’” Joshua became a strong and courageous leader. Thing is, what we speak into the lives of those God has entrusted to us may be the very foundation that prepares them to hear what God is calling them to. How are you speaking strength and courage into the life of someone God has entrusted to you?

Seek Him:  All of us spend time doing something, whatever that is. While rest is important, God desires for His people to live with effort and intentionality. Let’s turn our attention to Him and see what He wants to show us through this Scripture about the character trait of being hard working.

SEEK HIM: Devotion is Meeting with God in Our Own Lives! A teachable spirit benefits us, not only in our childhood or teenage years, but our whole lives long. As we spend time with the Lord and “Seek Him” through this Scripture, let’s lask Him these questions and listen to what He wants to speak to us about the character trait of being teachable. 

• WHAT:  What is God saying through this Scripture?  ~ What teaching and commandments are being referred to in this Scripture? Who is the “son” in this verse, and can you apply this to your life if you’re not a son? What are some ways that you can keep from forgetting what you’ve learned? 
• WHY:  Why does this Scripture matter? ~ What kind of life do you want to live? Do you want to experience the bare minimum of life, or would you like more goodness added to your life? Do you have peace in your life; why or why not?
• HOW: How does God want us to respond to this truth? ~ In what ways are you a teachable person? Are there any areas of your life where God is challenging you to be more teachable? How are you learning to “do good” right now?

SPEAK HIM: Discipleship is Making God Known to Others! As we seek to have teachable spirits at every stage of our lives, we model to others what it looks like to be teachable. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” Discipleship about being teachable means keeping God’s commands in our own hearts and then impressing them on the next generation. Ask God to help you in this!

In this episode, FDM Founder Tosha Williams tells the story about how she spent time with Jesus, seeking Him about the words to use to articulate the FDM mission. During a snowy, blowy week, He was the One who said:  Devotion Driven Discipleship.

This is something that the Family Disciple Me ministry has been encouraging people to do for years through "Seek Him Speak Him." The phrase "Devotion Driven Discipleship" now summarizes that practice. This is, indeed, the mission of FDM - - - but it’s so much more. We believe that Devotion Driven Discipleship is a mindset that has the ability to impact everything about the influence of believers around the world.

With Devotion Driven Discipleship, YOU,  friend, can rise up - no matter what your age or stage in life, no matter how long you have been a Christ-follower, no matter how much you - or don’t know! - about the Bible God’s Word - and YOU can make a profound influence in the lives of those God entrusts to you.

It’s so simple - but, at the same time, it is absolutely epic.
