Gumbeaux Fam, It’s the most wonderful time of the year…it’s also the most “GOAL saturated” time of year, as well. I grow exhausted by all the goal setting. “Exhausted” meaning overwhelmed. The “rat race” continues for most of us OR it’s a time to evaluate what’s gone RIGHT in our lives.

For nearly a decade, I’ve slowly grown from vision boarding (although still actively participating)..just weary of the way I could, at times, overlook some of the outstanding problems I have yet to address before MOVING FORWARD.

“Life Hack” is defined a strategy or technique adopted in order to manage one's time and daily activities in a more efficient way; but what happens when “hack” becomes an ‘Action’.

I’ve had to find out the hard way you guys. My Facebook account was hacked, and I decided to deactivate my account as a result of that. Which also meant deactivating The Gumbeaux’s Facebook, as well. (DEVASTATED).

I realized off of the call that Donna is very much like Princess Tiana. A down-to-Earth, working woman, with big dreams and a beautiful smile. Like Tiana, she dreamed of ownership and success regardless of what her circumstances may have presented to her. Donna has ALREADY defeated her odds. I had to remind her that she is living a fairytale to many of us. It is such a beautiful story with MULTIPLE happy endings...and what's mind-blowing is--IT'S ONLY THE BEGINNING.

I had the pleasure of interviewing a representative of Generation Z, as well as a young collegiate student pursuing a degree in one of the most at-risk fields in the country at this time...the medical field, more specifically Respiratory Therapy.

It just so happens that this wonderful, young woman happens to be my sister-in law. yeah Yeah...I know what you're thinking--Why would you interview someone you know?? Perfect question--especially since realizing I don't know her at all.  I discovered a lot with this interview. The ability for this younger generation to potentially defeat the odds and overturn these false pretenses about them. There is hope in our youth, but I also realized some of our youth also do not take the time to BREATHE and take time for themselves.

I have been “creatively constipated” and was blaming it on feeling overworked, stressed, spent—all of the above due to my inability to master work-life balance during a pandemic. 

Let’s just say I had a harsh lesson in “Giving Yourself More Grace” this past month, and it was a very humbling lesson.
