Brad and Derrick sit down after a long hiatus and talk about camping, traumatic childhood observations, self-sustained injuries and the frailty of the aging, along with a little time spent talking about bourbon. They jump back into the saddle after 7 months off from recording due to covid, holidays, and the chaos of life, with a couple of pours of Blood Oath Pacts #2 and #6.

#7 - Lucky Number 7 Flight

Brad and Derrick sit down and share a flight of 7-themed whiskeys.Not 7 of them. We kick things off with discussing two whiskeys that are aged to 7 years (Bernheim wheated whiskey and Old Ezra #7) and then we moved to two more pours of whiskeys with 7 in their name (Seagram's 7 and Jack Daniels Old No. 7). The first two we sampled off the air and shared our notes with each other on the air, and the last two we sample on the air and give live feedback of our tasting.

From there, to go with the Lucky 7s theme, we discuss poker stories and Brad pretty much won't stop talking about Vegas stories. It's good times.

# 6 - EH Taylor Blind Flight

Brad and Derrick sit down for a special blind tasting flight. Brad's wife helps out with this episode by being our pour master. We line up 3 EH Taylor bottles - 4-grain, Small Batch, Single Barrel - and have her pour samples of each for us to try in a blind side-by-side tasting. We then compare notes and reveal on the air.

It was a fun sampling, and as usual, Derrick and I go sideways and back again as we discuss several things from childhood and a few stories of days jumping off cliffs as kids.

#5 - Mini Booker's Flight

Brad and Derrick sample a pair of Booker's pours - the 2019-4 Beaten Biscuits and the 2020-1 Granny's Batch.

Come and listen how we found them drastically different and how they evoked memories of the past. As usual, we devolve into storytelling and go off the rails as we are so very likely to do.

#4 - Back in the Saddle - Elmer T Lee Edition

Derrick and I have had a bit of a hiatus. The world got a little topsy-turvy in spring 2020 and like everyone else, our lives were turned a little upside down.

Enough is enough though, and COVID-19 or not, we've still been drinking and talking, but we weren't doing enough recording. We've put that to an end and broken out the recording equipment again while cracking open and sharing a fun new bottle for us - Elmer T Lee.

Sit back and enjoy and listen to us discuss this fine 90 proof drinker, sip another few pours , and as usual laugh and share some old family stories. This time, revolving around cars and driving lessons.

#3 - Maker's Mark Flight

Brad and Derrick sit down to a 2 pour (okay, 3 pour) flight from the Maker's Mark distillery. We take out the flagship for a spin in a "secret tasting" again where we taste together off the air, then share our notes with each other on the podcast. We then do a live sampling of Maker's 46 and compare the two. Sprinkled among the pours we talk about the history of Maker's Mark Distillery and the features of their bourbons. Then while I delve into a story, Derrick wanders off to tackle a barrel strength Maker's Private Select pour. We're not polished, we're not the sommeliers of bourbon. We're just two old KY boys now living and enjoying life around Nashville, TN. We enjoy a pour (or two), and always enjoy a good story. Bottled in Bond Anniversary - Henry McKenna Single Barrel 10 yr BiB

Derrick and Brad sit down to celebrate the 123rd anniversary of the Bottled in Bond act of 1897 with a nice pour of Henry McKenna Single Barrel 10year BiB.

We spend time diving into the history of Bottled in Bond, do a "secret tasting" where we reveal our own tasting notes to each other on the air, and we emote about the pour, the value prop of the pour and our final notes and ratings for this bottle that is so hard to find these days.

And as is becoming the custom, we descend into madness and story land when I ask Derrick one simple question, "When's the last time you shit your pants?"

The Intro - Woodford Double Oaked

Brad and Derrick sit down to fire off their first ever episode of the Two Pours Podcast. The pour for this episode was Woodford Double Oaked. It was an unplanned pour, and our first recording - primarily to test the equipment, but we kept talking and used it as a fun casual way to introduce ourselves and our background, our little of our story, how we came to trying a podcast, and a little discussion on WDO, one of our favorite "daily drinker" pours we keep on hand. All in all, it's a sloppy episode, and we don't have the format down yet, but it will certainly jump start you on our background and get you primed for what's to come!
