Lucy Barkas reflects Restarting the team and getting back to basics

In any leadership programme I do with teams, we do a levelling exercise. We get back to basics to discuss, what is the team for, who is on it and why does it matter?

It doesn't matter whether it is a new team or one that has been around for ages. I recommend the restarting discussions at least one a year. It clears the decks, lets go of the past and get's all members to focus on the future.

LeaderX Lucy Barkas reflects on Co-working and Social Connection

After talking co-working and flexible approaches to work and play, I reflect on my own experiences since working from home in 2014. I never missed the 9-5, but there were some elements I missed.

Leaders need to stop recreating the office style of working in the home, and adopt new ways of collaborating, problem solving and getting stuff done. It’s a complete redesign and rethink that is needed. And here is the thing, you don’t have to do it alone., The best way to find the answers is to ask your people. Don’t assume everyone’s enjoying the format that you have implemented. It might work for you, but it might be really counter productive for others. So ask your people, how can I help you to work better, smarter and to still feel engaged and a sense of belonging?

And perhaps the co working spaces are part of the solution.

Justin is both a Workplace culture expert and a futurist of how we work and collaborate in the corporate environment. He's worked for over 10 years in delivering culture change for a number of organisations across the UK and Europe, helping develop their workplace and employee experiences, as well as leading them through intense periods of change.

Her own story has driven her to champion the importance of effective, achievable solutions to prevent abuse and poverty. Tammy leads with passion and commitment. She recognises the importance of championing for change whilst also delivering operational solutions.

Tammy is co Director of Taye Training and developed the methodology Training 4 Influence. Training 4 Influence delivers values led, expert, tailored, engaging training for frontline professionals who are perfectly positioned to change lives. The book Training 4 Influence is scheduled for publication June 2020.

Tammy is also a Lay Member on the Parliamentary Committee for Standards, and Interim Consultant Director for the Association of Child Protection Professionals.
