Christine Husom has been creating and writing stories since the age of six. In 2008, her dream of being a published author came true when Murder in Winnebago County, the first in the Winnebago County Mystery Series, launched.

Husom uses her real-life experiences in the criminal justice system, and interest in what motivates people to commit crimes, to write intriguing plots with compelling characters.

She served with the Wright County Sheriff’s Department and trained with the St. Paul Police Department where she gained firsthand knowledge of law enforcement policies and procedures.

Husom is a national best-selling author of two mystery series, has stories in six anthologies, wrote a collaborative novel with eight other authors, and co-edited Festival of Crime for Nodin Press. She belongs to Mystery Writers of America, the National Sisters in Crime, and is an active member of the Twin Cities Sisters in Crime.

She’s been nominated for a number of book awards and has both moderated and participated in author panels at Malice Domestic, Bouchercon, Left Coast Crime, Killer Nashville, and around Minnesota and Wisconsin with the Sisters in Crime.

Built from the ground up, the Acai fruit bowl food truck has a background of perseverance, determination, and more! Tara is a hard worker, and brings a certain amount of energy to a conversation!

Tara is a once obese young woman turned fitness enthusiast and gym owner.

Over the last eight years, she learned that food is the hardest barrier to overcome in achieving and maintaining fitness goals. Not only does making good choices sometimes come at the expense of how it tastes, it’s hard to know what’s truly healthy.

She couldn't find a healthy, fast-casual solution to both of these challenges and it was her deciding factor to sell her first business, WakeUp Fit in March 2021.
‍
She knew that to continue impacting the world, inspiring people to move, and to do her part in ending the obesity epidemic she had to get into the healthy food space.

There were a few requirements: it had to be affordable for everyone, taste good, and give people the inspiration to get outside and move.
‍
She believes that life is truly our greatest adventure. We’re able to do so much if we fuel our bodies the right way!

You can generally find Tara working out, hanging out at the lake, on the slopes snowboarding, traveling, spending time with family and friends, volunteering at church, or hanging out with her kitty Oreo.

Tara is a daughter, sister, auntie, and pet mom - all of these roles are important to her. Tara gets her entrepreneurial spirit from her dad, Michael, who passed away 7 years ago. Chasing her big dreams in his honor and living with an “others first” mentality fill her life with joy!

Established in 1955, The Buffalo PRCA Championship Rodeo is Minnesota's oldest Pro Rodeo. The Buffalo Rodeo Association continues to provide quality family-friendly entertainment built on a foundation of rich tradition.

Unlike many other rodeos across the United States, we host a permanent arena with bucking chutes on our historical grounds. Rodeo fans cheer on cowboys and cowgirls competing in events, laugh at the rodeo clowns antics and watch bullfighters protect professional circuit bull riders.

We also host events year-round at our rodeo grounds, but our annual rodeo has been the crown jewel since 1955. Come experience Minnesota's oldest and best PRCA Rodeo June 22-24, 2023

Gates open at 5 p.m., and performances start at 7 p.m. each night!

He was an amazing little boy with an old soul.
He had a beautiful and brave 4 years and 10 months on Earth.
He loved all things farm (especially tractors!), ukuleles, his rain boots, The Okee Dokee Brothers, Culver's, camping, any kind of adventuring and his baby brother.
His last 2 years were spent with many appointments, surgeries, chemo, medications and all the things that come with fighting a Diffused Midline Bithalamic Glioma.
Through it all, Andrew stayed joyful and bright.
One of his very favorite things to do was puddle jumping! We want to honor that love of splashing in the form of a splash pad for the community he lived in.

OUR STORY

Palmer was a Server at a little cafe and Brian was a regular. A few times a week he would sit at the counter and watch her smile as she ran around doing a million things at once! 6 Months later they went on their first date and a year after that they were married.

When they moved to Buffalo in 2019 they were sad to find that there were no cute little cafes like the one where they met. So they dreamed and schemed that one day they would open one of their own. The opportunity finally came in the middle of a pandemic, with 2 full time jobs and a 2nd baby on the way but they jumped at the chance. Through months of remodeling, shutdowns and setbacks they persevered and on March 16th, 2021 Forget Me Not Cafe was born!

You will still find Palmer running around, serving her customers and staff and many mornings you will see Brian too, grabbing his breakfast at the counter as she swirls around with that smile of hers. Theirs is the sweetest kind of love story and together they have created a little corner of the world where friends can gather, families can celebrate and first dates might flourish into something beautiful.... and if not, well, at least the food was good!

A Dream Come True
Who doesn't want to create something for themselves? My dream was to open up a winery, so I did it! Opening Buffalo Rock Winery in 2010 was truly a dream come true. With a passion for wine and an even greater desire to spend more time with my children, owning a winery on my property made for a great fit. I'm frequently asked what was the motivation behind starting a winery? Facetiously, I'd respond with, "insanity." After all, who starts up a business when she already has a great job outside of the home, albeit over forty miles away, and also has two kids under two years of age? The answer? Me! However, the real response for my motivation IS my kids. The next best thing to being a full-time mom is to work "from home" in order to spend more time with my family! So, during the summer of 2009, while looking ahead to my first grape harvest and on maternity leave with a colic baby, I knew I had to make my dream a reality. And I knew I had to do it then or I'd miss too many precious moments in my childrens' young lives if I continued to keep the winery idea on the back burner and didn't start the gears in motion for my new venture! That was when I went from a home vintner to establishing a commercial winery, Buffalo Rock Winery (Dietman Vineyard & Winery, LLC).

PROVIDE YOUR FEEDBACK ON THE CITY’S DOWNTOWN 2040 PLAN!
The City of Buffalo is seeking feedback on the Downtown 2040 Plan which provides new strategies and recommendations for how the downtown will grow and change over the next couple of decades. The plan outlines four character areas in the downtown and outlines recommendations and improvements over the next 20 years.

Read the full Downtown 2040 Plan. If you don’t have time for 60 pages, try viewing the 24-minute video summary or reading the 17 page highlights excerpt.

The Downtown 2040 Plan includes key policies and recommendations that will guide the Planning Commission, Housing & Redevelopment Authority and City Council with future decision making. Chapter 1 provides an overview of the context, setting and existing conditions including identifying distinct character areas. Chapter 2 explores applicable issues and a variety of opportunities, most carefully discussed with the Stakeholder Group. Chapter 3 sets up the plan framework that organizes specific recommendations for each character area. Chapter 4 focuses on implementation and possible phasing for improvements.

Public feedback can be submitted through February 5th, 2021 in a variety of methods.

Buffalo has been our home since we were both the new kids at Parkside Elementary in the 6th grade. So it was only natural that after living Minneapolis, we would move back, bring the family and start a business together..

We knocked down walls, rebuilt walls, ripped up delightful orange shag carpet, stripped multiple generations of wallpaper with many, many family and friends, who helped us get it to what you see today. We hope you come see us at our cheeky brick-and-mortar shop.

Formerly known as the Buffalo Merchants, the Bulldogs debuted under the "new" name in 1998. They typically play on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays from May-July, with occasional forays into the postseason in August. Most observers say they are all-around good guys. Betsy Kelly has wanted to become an educator since the first time she was asked the question at five years of age. In 2002, Mrs. Kelly was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Minnesota State University Moorhead. In 2010, Mrs. Kelly received her Master's in Reading Instruction from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. At this time she also earned her K-12 Reading Specialist Certificate through the state of Minnesota.

Mrs. Kelly has worked for fifteen years in elementary education. Her experience ranges from private religious, private secular, and public schools in grades kindergarten, first, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. In 2008, Mrs. Kelly started her private reading practice, providing service to students in elementary and high school. Most recently, Mrs. Kelly has worked as a K-5 Reading Specialist in a private school in St. Paul and an adjunct professor for the University of St. Thomas.

Mrs. Kelly lives in the Twin Cities with her husband and two children. Some of her favorite children's books are: The True Story of the Three Little Pigs by Jon Scieszka, Maniac Magee by Jerry Spinelli, A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park, and The Help by Kathryn Stockett.
