So in this episode, we talk about Carl's experience growing up in Peoria, his multiple deployments in the military (and his split-second decision that led to that career!), his career as a corrections officer, the work he does today to support local youth, how the people of Peoria should shift their perspective on the violence in the city, the book that's being written about his life, and a whole lot more.

We actually just saw some of her art when we were at Dream Center Peoria for Episode 2 of the podcast!

Chelsie has done some incredible projects throughout the area! We loved meeting her and learning more about the arts community in Peoria, the time she won $200 at a hula hoop contest, how a student entrepreneurship competition led to the development of her business, why 100 Days of Peoria got started, her favorite spots around Peoria, how she designed the mural at Bradley University, and a whole lot more.

]]> For Episode 4, we had the opportunity to connect with Chelsie Tamms, Owner of Lettering Works, a hand-lettering design company that was originally founded in Peoria in 2016, and the Creator of 100 Days of Peoria. We actually just saw some of her art when we were at Dream Center Peoria for Episode 2 of the podcast!

For Episode 3, we're live from Bearded Owl Brewing in downtown Peoria to talk with Nick Babcock, Founder and Head Brewer there. We really hit it off with Nick, the beers were awesome, and we loved learning more about a place we both love to spend time at.

They just celebrated 2 years as a business, so we were grateful to learn more of Nick's personal story, the story of The Bearded Owl, how a home brewing collaboration led to the name of the brewery, why Nick considers his family to be his greatest accomplishment, and some events they have going on each week.

And at the end of the episode, Austin brought in the first beer he recently brewed at home and had Nick give his honest feedback. Austin says it was "the best day of his life," so there's that. This was a fun one and we're excited to share it!

We loved hearing some of his personal story and the journey of Spice Hospitality, along with the stories behind when he caught the shark on the wall at Thyme (and when he traveled cross-country with the animal heads that now cover the walls there), ate an actual bird's nest, how he named his restaurants, and the crazy amount of socks he owns. It was a fun conversation and we're grateful to be sharing it as Episode 1!

On Episode 1, we had the opportunity to sit down with Travis Mohlenbrink. Along with being on quite a few boards for local nonprofits, Travis is the mind behind Thyme, Sugar, Industry Brewing, Cracked Pepper Cafe, Cayenne, and The Warehouse on State. (He's a busy man!)
