Howdy Lovely Listeners! Terence is back and we unpack all of the shocking events in Episode 6 of The Vampire Lestat, "Montreal." Louis and Lestat's "fog of love" had them out here in these Montreal streets acting like two dumb b*tches looking at each other and saying exaaacccccctly.

Episode Highlights:

• Of course we revisit our poster color theory after the Akasha red poster dropped.
• We love that Louis and Lestat both went out and got their hair done in preparation for the worst . . . date night . . . EVER!
• Inspired by Daniel's snarky "Taylor and Travis" comment, Terence and I talk about a few gold star celebrity spouses.
• Loustat! Loustat! Loustat! Yearning is back!
• We learn that having HBO at his hotels is apparently important to Lestat, so we make a few recs for his viewing pleasure.
• Move over Fraudia, the real Claudia is back and she does not mince words when it comes to her dads/uncle/brother.
• And of course we get into that shocking ending. Daniel and Armand . . . you will CRUMBLE!

• Rhaenyra’s political and personal struggles at King’s Landing
• We're warming up to the Aegon and Larys road show.
• There's an heir up in there! Halaena is expecting and we're thinking a paternity test might be appropriate.
• A very fun "weaponized aromatherapy" segment, in which we whip up a recipe for the stink bomb of all stink bombs to use against Ormund.
• Daemon finally does a little long overdue parenting.

As always, I am delighted to have Terence Johnson back with me to unpack the latest messy vampire shenanigans in Episode 5 of The Vampire Lestat, "New York." On behalf of Terence and I, I would like to notify Rolin Jones that we will be sending our therapy bills to him and we may just file a class action lawsuit on behalf to the entire fandom.  This episode wore us out in all the best ways!

Main topics include:

• At long last, we get into poster color theory and what implications Team Pink vs. Team Lime Green may have for our faves.
• We embrace our chaos gremlin energy for a lively discussion about which historical figures we'd like to see Louis in a situationship with in a limited series in which he basically Forrest Gumps his way through Black history.  AMC, green light this show!
• We unpack why Lestat chose to fake his death.
• I convince Terence to move Louis up the therapy priority list after all of the deeply concerning developments with him and Regina.
• Lots of Loustat, particularly how we continue to see Lestat's love for Louis despite all they have been through.
• Although we're still wrapping our minds around it, we're intrigued by the developments in the Daniel/Gremlin dynamic.
• A new vampire has entered the chat, welcome Marius.
• Akasha!

Happy Wine Wednesday!

Special guest Terence Johnson is back with me to unpack episode four of The Vampire Lestat.  "The Devil's Road" was a rollercoaster of power plays, dark secrets, and chilling moments. In this episode:

• More tour bus bathroom revelations.  Give folks some privacy!
• Daniel Malloy’s solitary hobbies: Cry for help or just a vampire’s routine?
• Armand works the steps and we are highly amused by it. We also talk about the interesting dynamics between Armand and his first fledgling.  The bowling alley confrontation felt like a salty son confronting his deadbeat dad.  That second discussion . . . the vibes were interesting.
• Why on earth did Armand go to that concert?!
• Nothing feels safe about Louis and Regina.
• I ask Terence which of these vampires is in most urgent need of therapy.  We had different POVs on whose first in line.  This was so much fun!

Happy Wine Wednesday! I was delighted to have Lauren Sarner return this week to discuss episode 2 of the House of the Dragon's third season, "Queen's Landing."

In this episode, we discuss:

• The tragic demise of Sir Simon Strong and Otto Hightower
• Rhaenyra's emotional journey and parental support gaps
• Daemon’s playing the worst Telltale game ever.
• Alicent's evolving character and her survival tactics
• We're over the prophecy as motivation for character actions.

. . . and more!

Happy Wine Wednesday! I'm thrilled to have Michelle Jaworski back with me to delve into all of the drama that unfolded in the premiere episode of HBO's House of the Dragon.

In this episode:

• A heartfelt farewell to Jace, but did his death hit with its intended impact?
• Character dynamics: Aegon’s chaos, Rhaenyra’s leadership struggles, and the cursed cycle of family conflict.
• We dig into the massive Battle of the Gullet.
• Show vs. book comparisons: Adaptation changes, omitted characters, and plot shifts.

Terence and I are back to discuss "Toronto", the third episode in Season 1 of The Vampire Lestat.  Due to some tech issues on my end, this episode is a two parter.

We continue our exploration of unreliable narration (I'm obsessed!), speculate on character motivations, and applaud the show's bold visual choices.

In Part 1, we discussed:

• Louis' choice of contact card for his allegedly casual relationship with Lemuel
• Loud, terrible bathroom sex
• Who tampered with Daniel's footage - Lestat, Gabriella, or the two in partnership with each other?
• The Magnus of it all
• The sad story of Nicky, Lestat (and the Gremlin Armand)
• More vampire abilities revealed

In this episode (Part 2), we cover:

• Prayer circle for Regina
• Lestat crashes out, but also seems to have a breakthrough
• The Gremlin Armand continues to both thrill us and creep us out

Thank you so much for listening!

Howdy, Lovely Listeners! Terence and I are back to unpack the events that took place in "Toledo", in episode 2 of The Vampire Lestat.

We continue our analysis of the tonal shifts, character dynamics, and symbolic moments as remembered by Lestat.

In this episode:

• Character complexity and unreliable narrators: Lestat and Louis' conflicting perspectives
• Emotional vulnerabilities and the symbolism of scenes, such as Lestat's battle with the wolves and his "serenade" to Louis
• Gabriella’s mysterious motives and our discomfort with whatever the "Great Conversion" is
• The show’s tonal shift and its impact on storytelling and viewer experience
• Narrative breadcrumbs and foreshadowing for upcoming episodes

Hey Lovely Listeners! I know it's been awhile.  There's no way I wouldn't be back to talk about my favorite messy, toxic, beautiful, homicidal, sometimes vengeful vampires from the Anne Rice universe.

I am over the moon to have the brilliant Terence Johnson back with me for the debut season of The Vampire Lestat.

Join us as we explore the fantastic season premiere, dissecting the new dynamic shifts, character intricacies, and thematic twists. With special insights into Lestat's flamboyant personality, the evolution of the storytelling perspective, and the show's unique visual and dialogue style—we are back again to unpack the vampire saga's latest chapter.

In This Episode:

• The rebranding of the series from IWTV to TVL and its implications for character focus
• Jacob Anderson’s performance and the chemistry with Sam Reed
• The new opening scene: visual cues, music choices, and narrative setup
• How the show plays with vampire invulnerability, injuries, and scars
• Lestat’s over-the-top showmanship, including the iconic music box album
• The dialogue style: POV storytelling and Lestat’s "parentheticals"
• The coven dynamics and the territorialism of vampire groups, the Fang Gang
• The evolving relationships: Louis and Lestat’s reconnections and possible reunions
• Fun, mischief, and Easter eggs: Beyonce covers, some really terrible French speaking by me (Jocelyn), and Halloween candy.

Happy Wine Wednesday! We had an unprecedented ending to Season 9 of Love is Blind with NO marriages.  It was the right outcome, but shocking nonetheless.  You're also getting an unprecedented episode of the podcast this week, as I am solo for the first time ever.  When Candi and I can get our schedules aligned, I promise to get her thoughts on this season, as well as the Love is Blind France discussion we promised.

I start off, by going back to the finale to talk about the failed weddings of Ali/Anton and KB/Edmond.  I also talk about their very anticlimactic reunion segments.  I have a hard time thinking Ali was ever into Anton, especially because she didn't bother to have some very important discussions with him about his strip club patronage.  Apparently, it was all about slides and the way he walked - going alllll the way back to Baja.  Despite being the main topic of discourse this season, KB and Edmond felt like an afterthought at the reunion.

From there, I get into the rest of my reunion thoughts.  This includes all of the questions that should have been asked of Kacie instead of the weird Chris Paul segment. What was that?! Kacie is a hussy, but she is not to blame for the breakup of Madison and Joe.  Nick sounded rehearsed but at least he made an effort to take accountability, unlike Kacie.

Overall, the reunion was very disappointing but I still enjoyed the season nonetheless. Would love to hear your thoughts on the season - shoot me an email or hit me up on social media.

Thank you so much for listening!

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi and I are back to discuss Episodes 10-11 of Netflix's Love is Blind Season 9.  We focus on the couples we were relieved finally called it quits - Nick/Annie and Madison/Joe.  Like ALL of the featured couples this season, these people had no business getting married.

We wrap up with our predictions about the remaining couples and whether or not the say yes - or even make it to the altar if you've taken a close look at the preview.  We will get into a more robust discussion about what happened with these pairings when we reconnect to discuss the wedding episode.  I think we might have our first season with no marriages and, honestly, that's the right outcome here.

Thanks so much for listening!

Hey lovely listeners! Check out part two of our conversation about episodes 7-9 of Netflix's Love is Blind (US) Season 9.  We talk about Nick and Annie, why everyone hates Nick, and whether Annie's hair is sentient.  We close out our couples discussion by unpacking Edmond and KB, who become more unwatchable with each episode.  We really enjoyed the pod reunion mixer, although I had a lot of choice words for Anna and Patrick. Enough of them (and Kacie)! Leave them at home - don't even bother with them at the reunion.  Finally, we run through our wedding predictions - I am still firmly on team no one says yes.

Thanks so much for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Happy Wine Wednesday!

Candi and I are back to unpack the mess and drama that unfolded in episodes 7-9 of Netflix's Love is Blind (US) Season 9.  In part 1 of our discussion, we cover Ali/Anton, Madison/Joe, and Megan/Jordan.

Ali meeting Anton's friends is one of my favorite friend meetups of all time thanks to Joe's MESSY girlfriend.  We are very exhausted with both Madison and Joe and would truly like to be removed from their contentious, nonsensical group chat.  We remain steadfastly committed to "Team No Marriages" this season, but if there is a couple that has a chance it would be Megan and Jordan.

Part 2 will hit your feeds by the end of week.  In that episode, we talk Annie/Nick, KB/Edmond, sentient hair, the pod reunion mixer, and how I truly don't want to see  or hear from Patrick, Anna, or Kacie ever again.

Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Happy Wine Wednesday!

It's not the boogers, y'all! You will know what this means after you listen to the conclusion of our discussion of episodes 1-6 of Netflix's Love is Blind (US) Season 9.  We get into the biggest messes of this season (so far):

- Edmond/KB

- Madison/Joe

- Patrick/Kacie/Anna/Blake

Y'all we don't know what is going on with Edmond and we had some questions for KB as well.  I spend about 10 minutes trying to get Candi to answer a single hypothetical question about Edmond and her refusal to even entertain a fictional universe in which Edmond was her partner left me in shambles.

We want nice things for Madison and that does not include Joe.

We close out by unpacking the chaotic sort of rectangle (or square) that was Patrick/Kacie/Anna/Blake.  Candi had way more grace for Anna than I did - she gives production plant. But luckily for Anna, Kacie was just so absolutely terrible that she's understandably at the center of LOTS of discourse.

Thanks for listening!

Happy Wine Wednesday! The pods are open in Denver, Colorado and we are so incredibly said for the singles navigating the dating scene. In part 1 of our discussion, we talk about Ali/Anton, Annie/Nick, and Megan/Jordan.  Can't say we're really jazzed about these pairings and it took 2 watches for us to remember one of these couples.  Nonetheless, things are messy and we're here for it.

Welcome back lovely listeners! We close out our reunion discussion with Ashleigh/Billy, Javen/Katisha/Sophie/Photobooth, and Meg/Kieran.  Thank goodness Meg and Kieran are still together, as we truly would not have been okay if they were not.  They are definitely in the LIB pantheon of amazing couples like Lauren/Cameron and Brett/Tiffany.

We get into Photo Booth-gate.  We weren't thrilled that so much was made of whether there was a curtain or not because it has nothing to do with Javen's inappropriate behavior captured on camera when his fiancé was in the room. It was shocking that despite his inappropriate behavior, Javen was in no way the biggest villain this season.  The true villain is Chris Coelen and the gyms that seem to be mass producing these awful men. Speaking of awful men, we had LOTS of thoughts about Ashleigh and Billy.  We're sorry for Ashleigh's heartache, but happy that she is now free to pursue someone who is as fabulous as she is.

Happy Wine Wednesday! We are closing out our coverage of Season 2 of Love is Blind UK by unpacking the SHOCKING reunion episode.  In part 1, I had a LOT to say about the reunion looks.  Many of the women fought a battle with humidity and they did not win.  But our critiques are not limited to the women, we were not feeling Kieran's Anita Baker, Toni Braxton like 90s hair look.

After our fashion police segment, we unpack our shock (but also relief) that Kal and Sarover are no longer together.  We hate Kal for what he did and how he did it, but we're happy that Sarover is free to pursue the love she deserves.  We close the conversation with Bardha and Jed.  We weren't shocked these two didn't make it work but we left the reunion feeling like we still didn't have any meaningful insight into what went wrong with the former couple.

Thanks so much for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language (lots in this episode!!!) and we have a great time.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi and I are back to discuss episodes 9 and 10 of Netflix's Love is Blind (UK) Season 2.  Y'all we were SHOCKED! Absolutely shocked to see who got married and who didn't.

As I mention in the intro, we had a special guest - a Roomba - join us for a few stretches of the discussion, so apologies for the occasional background noise you may hear.  We nonetheless had a fun time celebrating Meg and Kieran.  If Sarover is happy, we're happy for her but we have some concerns about Kal.  And don't even get us started on Billy and Ashleigh. We truly hate that a time in Ashleigh's life that should have been joyous was riddled with anxiety and uncertainty. And we still don't know what to say about Barda and Jed.  So many questions, so very few answers.

Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Hey Lovely Listeners! Check out the conclusion of my conversation with Candi about episodes 5-8 of Netflix's Love is Blind (UK) Season 2.  We pick up with Kieran and Meg - we very much need these two to get married because we love them as a couple and we want to see that choreographed wedding day dance.  We close out with an in-depth unpacking of the end of Katisha and Javen's relationship and the messy, messy reunion mixer with the pod squad.  We have lots of thoughts about Javen and Katisha as a couple and as individuals.  And were are ten toes down with Team Megan!

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi and I are back this week to discuss all of the relationship mess in episodes 5-8 of Netflix's Love is Blind (UK) Season 2.  In part 1 of our discussion, we talk about Bardha/Jed, Ashleigh/Billy, and Kal/Sarover.

Candi LOVED the bluntness of Kal's brother.  I have some doubts about whether Sarover is ready to go all in on a marriage with Kal.  We were horrified by Billy and Ashleigh's grocery store trip and we don't want her to give up her cabin crew career unless it's what SHE wants.

Thanks so much for listening!

Hey Lovely Listeners! In this episode, we wrap up our discussion of episodes 1-4 of Love is Blind (UK) Season 2.  Candi had one more red flag to unpack, so we discuss that and then move on to the green flags of the season.  There are cast members that actually give us hope that they believe in love and are not on the show to recruit for their cult or expand their social media following.  We then discuss first impressions and predictions for the engaged couples and get into the cocktail party in Cyprus.

Keep an eye on your feeds for some bonus content that we've owed y'all, including our wrap up of Love is Blind (US): Season 8 and The Traitors: Season 3. We're really excited about an all civilian, no celebrity iteration of The Traitors.

Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time. Thanks so much for listening!

Happy Wine Wednesday! I hope you are enjoying all of the Ultimatum-related content in your feed.  Candi is back with me to discuss another Netflix show chock full of drama and messiness - Love is Blind UK.  We are thrilled that this iteration of the show is back because it is our absolute favorite.  In part 1 of our discussion, we break down the many, many red flags from the pod dates. As you'll hear in the cold open, we had a LOT of thoughts about the nonsense that is splenic awareness.

Keep an eye on your feed tomorrow for part 2 of the discussion and in the coming days we'll have more bonus drops on Love is Blind US and The Traitors.

Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time! Thanks for listening!

Hey Lovely Listeners! More fun bonus content for your feed.  Enjoy my discussion with Candi about Season 1 of Netflix's The Ultimatum: Queer Love, which is the superior iteration of The Ultimatum shows on Netflix.  We get into all of the relationship drama of the season, unpack the somewhat disappointing reunion, and we have a lot of questions about the host chosen for this franchise.

Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Hey lovely listeners! I've got a fun bonus episode to get your week off to a great start. Candi joined me to talk about the relationship drama and mess on Netflix's The Ultimatum Season Three.  If you're watching the new season of Perfect Match, this is a perfect companion piece to your viewing.  Candi really - and I mean REALLY - hated JR.  JR has not shown a lot of growth on Perfect Match, so if you're frustrated with him, this episode on The Ultimatum is for you.

The episode wraps with some high level thoughts on the first two seasons of The Ultimatum. And keep an eye on your feed tomorrow for a second bonus episode on the first season of The Ultimatum: Queer Love - the superior version of this franchise.

Thanks so much for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Hey there lovely listeners! Check out the conclusion of my discussion with Candi about Queer Ultimatum Season 2. In this part episode, we pick up with the drama of the "changeover" dinner, unpack the drama of the reunited couples, and close out with our thoughts on the reunion.  Maria wasn't having anyone's crap and we cannot believe that Dayna and Megan were not held more accountable for their behavior.

And don't forget we've got more Ultimatum content coming your way over the next week. This will include our discussion about Season 3 of the OG Ultimatum and another bonus episode in which we talk about Queer Ultimatum Season 1.  Lots of content to get you through your day - whether you're working or working out or just vegging out.

Happy Wine Wednesday! As promised, we're getting back into the swing of things here at I'mma Need More Wine.  I'm back this week with Candi to unpack all of the messy relationship drama in Season 2 of Netflix's Queer Ultimatum, which by the way continues to be the standout of the Ultimatum franchise.  In part 1 of our discussion, we cover everything up through and including the trial marriages of the remixed couples.  Keep an eye on your feeds tomorrow for part 2, which will cover the drama that unfolded in the "Changover" dinner through the reunion.

And that's not all! We've got some fun bonus episodes that you'll find in your feeds over the next week.  That includes our discussion about Season 3 of the OG Ultimatum and another episode in which we talk about Queer Ultimatum Season 1.  Lots of content to get you through your day - whether you're working or working out or just vegging out.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Thrilled to be back from hiatus - I've missed y'all.  Can't think of a better way to return to your feeds than this discussion with my favorite pastor, Solomon Missouri.

You've binged Season 4 of The Bear, so get into this rewind of Season 3.  Solomon and I unpack our mixed bag of feelings about the show's third season.  There were things we loved and some items we'd send back to the kitchen.  Given a listen at the end to our Season 4 wishlist and let me know what you were hoping for and whether the writers delivered.

This will kickoff the podcast getting back into a regular cadence of publishing.  Thanks for your patience and thank you for listening. I am eternally grateful for the support.

In part two of our discussion about Love is Blind (US) Season 8, Episodes 7-9, we discuss Virginia/Devin, Sara/Ben, and we get into a little TikTok tea.  We continue to be underwhelmed by Virginia and Devin.  They are boring and we weren't feeling the vibes during the meeting with Devin's family.  We discuss the difference in pod Ben versus out of the pods Ben.  We were surprised by his inclusive set of friends, but we're still not buying his purported "acceptance" of all.  He did himself no favors in his response to Sara's questions about the TikTok story about him, but ultimately Sara's choice to still be with him speaks to her as much as it does to him.

Happy Sunday! Candi and I are here to help you fight off the Monday scaries with our discussion about episodes 7-9 of Love is Blind (US) Season 8.  In Part 1, we discuss Daniel/Taylor, Joey/Monica, and Lauren/Dave.  The did Daniel follow Taylor on Instagram mystery was woefully underwhelming, Monica's sister pulled no punches, and Dave continues to be the absolute worst.

Happy Saturday! Candi is back with me to unpack the mess in the first six episode of Love is Blind (US) Season 8. In part two of our discussion, we discuss Dave/Lauren, Taylor/Daniel, and Madison/Meg/Alex/Mason. We are astonished that Dave had not one but two suitors despite his terrible attempts at humor and nonstop parade of verbal red flags. As for Taylor and Daniel, we think Taylor's hesitation had way more to do with her attraction (or lack thereof) to her fiancé, particularly given that Taco Bell and Christmas aren't exactly what one would consider "unique" interests.  And finally, we get into the villainy of Miss Madison and I try to convince Candi of why she should be celebrating the man-eater who is making some amazing television.

Thanks so much for listening.

TGIF! Candi is back with me to unpack the mess in the first six episode of Love is Blind (US) Season 8. In this first part of our two part discussion, we talk about Joey/Monica, Devin/Virginia, and Ben/Sara. We're not sure how we're feeling about the vibes this season.  We're a bit bored at times, but religion and politics have certainly added some interesting layers.

Part 2 will be out tomorrow!

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi is back with me to discuss our favorite reality show - Peacock's The Traitors (US).  We catch up on the drama that unfolded in episodes 7 and 8 of the show's third season, including the banishment of Boston Rob, our fear of bugs, Tom Sandoval's singing, and whether the remaining Traitors will seduce or murder.

Hey there lovely listeners! Dropping a treat in your feed to hopefully get your week off to a fun start.  Candi is back to unpack all of the drama in the latest episode of The Traitors.  We talk about Carolyn being completely over Danielle and how entertaining Carolyn's in your face candor about going after Danielle was to watch.  We continue to theorize about the correlation between the size of Wes's beard and his villain level.  He put it all out there this week and now ranks as one of our all time favorite contestant departures.

Welcome to the game, Brittany.  We have mixed feelings about you.  And of course, we talk about poor, poor Derrick and the challenges of using logic to appeal to a bunch smooth brain idiots who want their egos stroked.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi and I are back to unpack all of the backwards hustling by the Traitors, especially Danielle, in the fifth episode of the season. We don't understand why Boston Rob couldn't give his fellow traitors a W and instead insisted on the killing of Robyn Dixon. And we truly understand NOTHING about whatever Danielle was doing in this episode.  Not to be outdone, the Faithfuls helped banish yet another of their own and we really need them to move past all of the coffin-related conspiracy theories. Enough coffin talk! Here's hoping for a major shakeup in episode 6 because this group has truly lost the plot.

Happy Wine Wednesday! I know it's been awhile and we're working on ramping things up and getting back on track in 2025. To kick things off, Candi joined me this week to discuss the delightful Abbott Elementary side of the Abbot/It's Always Sunny crossover.  We loved it and had a lot of thoughts on the hilarious writing, the amazing pairings, and how this crossover managed to preserve the core of the Sunny characters while still making them Abbott Elementary audience appropriate.

Hey lovely listeners! Michelle Jaworski is back with me this week to discuss the dragons and drama in the House of the Dragon Season 2 finale. I had a lot of fun with nicknames this week in which I debuted one for Larys and came up with a few  for Michelle on the spot because she was BRINGING it this week!

We talk about dragon riders, ain't sh*t second sons, and the challenge of making Game of Thrones references in this series.

Thanks so much for listening! This is your friendly reminder that we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Happy Monday! Candi is back with me this week to discuss the drama and dragons in episodes 6 and 7 of House of the Dragon Season 2.

The episode is mostly focused on episode 7, The Red Sowing.  I had previously recorded an episode on Smallfolk, but unfortunately significant audio issues with Riverside forced me to scrap it. I was extremely grateful for my guest, Becca, giving her time so I tried to salvage one of our segments, which you'll find at the very end of this episode. Unfortunately, the audio could not be improved.

You can find and follow Becca on Twitter here.

Candi and I unpack all of the events in episode 7 while weaving in things from episode 6 where appropriate. Our discussion focuses mainly on the newly established dragon riders, including whether or not they can be trusted. There's still another mysterious dragon without a rider hanging out in the Vale and we're really hoping Rhaena will claim him.

And of course we check in on the happenings with the ain't sh*t second sons - Aemond and Daemon.  We had a lot of fun talking all about the Riverlands and speculated about where Daemon goes from here now that he's finally cemented their support.

Thanks so much for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.  I'll be back on Sunday with my conversation about the finale and Candi has agreed to return to do a full season wrap up, so stay tuned!

We had a great time talking about the big battle at the end - RIP Rhaenys and Meleys. We also get into bitchy small councils, Alicent's continued hypocrisy, and how I'm FINALLY on board with the one-eyed anime villain in the freshly laid 613 wig.

Thanks so much for listening! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time!

Happy Wine Wednesday! Terence is back with me to wrap up our coverage of the SPECTACULAR second season of AMC's Interview with the Vampire.  This was truly a bittersweet occasion because I have had such a blast talking to Terence about this amazing show and I'm sad to say farewell (for now) to the show and to my weekly chats with Terence about it.

We had a lot of fun talking about these messy vampires in this finale episode.  We start the episode by delighting in Louis getting his lick back and serving up some fiery revenge to those coven bastards for what they did to Claudia and Madeline.  And of course we talk about the brilliance of Jacob Anderson as he captures Louis's madness. That final showdown with Santiago was EVERYTHING. Ben Daniels will truly be missed, but what a sendoff that was for his character who got the whackings he deserved from Louis.

Next we talk about the SHOCKING revelations about the trial, which came as no surprise because Armand has repeatedly been revealed to be a lying liar who lies. We can't say enough good things about this cast, including the delight that Eric Bogosian brings to Daniel Molloy as he calmly and methodically ramps up to reveal to Louis that it was Lestat who saved him.

We can't wait to see that home wrecking Daniel Molloy adjust to life as a vampire in Season 3.  Speaking of Season 3, we are SO ready for rock star Lestat and to see where things stand with Louis.  The Loustat reunion scene was so beautifully acted, so y'all know we had lots to say about it.

Thanks so much for listening to our coverage! Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time!

Hey House of the Dragon fans! I am thrilled to welcome Lauren Sarner back to the podcast this week to discuss "The Burning Mill," which is the third episode of House of the Dragon Season 2.

Lauren and I talk about the regrettable decision by the show not to do more with Daemon and touch on the happenings at Harrenhal.  We also talk about the ongoing saga of two dumb b*tches saying exaccctttly to each other AKA the developments between King Aegon and Criston as his new Hand.

We also discuss the show's continued exploration of motherhood through Rhaenyra and Alicent. And of course we get into the face off between the two at the close of the episode.

Thanks so much for listening! Lauren will be back to discuss episode 4, so keep an eye on your feed.  Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time!

Hey there fellow Interview with the Vampire fans! The season has ended, but if you're like me you're probably in a full blown rewatch.  My discussion with Terence about episode 7 - "I Could Not Prevent It" is the perfect rewatch companion.  And if you're just getting around to the second season, welcome!

Terence and I do a deep dive into the trial of Claudia, Louis, and Madeline.  We question whether Lestat was there voluntarily and speculate about the meaning behind Lestat's apparent shakiness at times during the trial. And of course we get into the shocking revelations in the episode that go back to Season 1, like the intense fight between Louis and Lestat and the night that Lestat gave Claudia the gift.

We also continue to question what - if anything - we can believe about Armand in these memories.  We simply don't trust him! We close out our conversation giving a heartfelt farewell to Claudia and talking about the many ways in which she was failed as a human and then again as a vampire.  Salute to Delainey Haynes for a superb performance this season.

Keep an eye on your feeds - my conversation with Terence about the AMAZING Season 2 finale will be out this Wine Wednesday!

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi returned this week to discuss the second half of Bridgerton Season 3.  The discussion kicks off with an "apologies, errors, and omissions" segment in which I take myself to task for context from the first two seasons of the series that I did not have available to me when we discussed the first part of Season 3.  I've now watched the full series and wanted to flag key plot points that definitely shaped my thoughts on the rest of Season 3.

Candi and I then discuss our thoughts on the Lady Whistledown reveal, all things Polin, Francesca's potential love triangle, and some of the other secondary plots.  We talk about what we think is up next for the Bridgertons - Benedict is LONG overdue for his own season.

The discussion - as well as me finally watching the first two seasons - left us with a lot of things we wanted to say about the series as a whole.  Candi has graciously agreed to come back for another round of Bridgerton talk, so stay tuned for that!

TGIF! Terence is back with me this week to discuss Interview with the Vampire Season 2, Episode 3 - "No Pain" - an episode that in fact did feature a lot of pain.  Poor Claudia!  Terence and I talk about the introduction of Raglan James. We're so excited about Justin Kirk's addition to this talented cast, but we absolutely do not trust RJ whatsoever.

We also unpack the different iterations of Lestat featured in this episode via Louis and Armand.  Y'all know we don't trust Armand and his recollection of Lestat in his flashbacks made us even more suspicious of him.

Of course we talk about Claudia and the Coven.  We've been on edge about Claudia's safety and well being in this new group but perhaps it is Claudia's age at the time she became a vampire that we should be worried about.  We also talk about Claudia and Louis just outright hustling backwards during this episode.  Coming up with lies for their "Bruce the Vampire Maker" backstory with doors and windows open is a terrible idea.  And Louis needs to tell Claudia that Armand knows about Lestat ASAP!

Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time!

Hey there Interview with the Vampire fans! We are SO back! I was delighted to welcome Terence B. Johnson back to the podcast this week to kick off our weekly coverage of IWTV Season 2.  We are covering the first two episodes of the new season this week, which worked out well as we both agreed that  episode 1 felt much more like a prologue and episode 2 felt more like the actual premiere.  Nonetheless, we think the new season is off to a great start and look forward to discussing the remaining episodes.

Hey there Lovely Listeners! Happy Wine . . . TGIF! Real life and adulting has been kicking my butt so thank y'all so much for your patience.  The publishing schedule will be a bit modified this summer, but we will absolutely be in your feeds with lots of content!

Candi convinced me to cover Bridgerton and I am SO glad that she did.  Between the soapy mess and smut, this show was right up my alley.

Disclaimer 1 - I had not watched Bridgerton before jumping into Season 3.  Now that I've watched the other seasons, my thoughts about some of the characters have definitely become more complicated.

Disclaimer 2 - I also had not engaged in the fandom discourse, so this episode will be largely free of that commentary.  I know that Bridgerton fans are very passionate.  Having dabbled in some of the discourse following the recording I just want to say that it's time for y'all to come home from war.  Your families miss you.

Hey there lovely listeners! It's Thursday, so I thought it was fitting to release the Grey's Anatomy bonus segment today. We talk about two things that Grey's has become very well known for - devastating deaths and messy relationships.

We had a few more topics slated for discussion, so we will be doing another round of Grey's Anatomy discussion once Candi has completed her watch of the series.  As you'll hear at the end, she's in Season 11 and she's all in on seeing this through to Season 20.  So stay tuned for that!

TGIF! Our coverage of The Ones Who Live concludes this week with our chat about the finale. We LOVED it! We were thrilled to see the Grimes family get a happy ending. Happy Friday! Our coverage of The Ones Who Live continues this week with our discussion of Episode 5, "Become." We enjoyed the episode and were SHOCKED, but delighted by the return of Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) to the TWD universe. We share all of our favorite moments from Richonne's second honeymoon episode - including the big proposal at the end. Candi very graciously fills in a few background gaps for me on the past relationship between Gabriel and Ann/Jadis. And of course we talk about Jadis's final character run and whether or not we understood all of her choices. We close with our wishlist for the finale. In sum, we want cinnamon roll sweetness and will not be here for any bittersweet endings. This is a love story and we want a happy ending for this beloved couple. And a reunion!

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi is back to discuss episode 4 of "The Ones Who Live" written by the multi-talented Danai Gurira.  We have a scene heavy discussion this week as we discuss the multiple reckonings for Richonne - Michonne's disappointment in her reunion with Rick and the reckoning for the couple as a whole.

Of course we unpack Michonne's long awaited revelation to Rick about their son, RJ. And  we talk about how the couple ultimately gets on the same page by being vulnerable and sharing how their trauma has impacted them.  This was a spectacular episode and Danai exercised the utmost love and care as we navigated this important turning point for Richonne.  This episode had us all in our feelings, y'all.  Especially as Rick opened up about how his time with CRM made him lose Carl all over again.  Those flashbacks!

We close with a little bit of speculation about what's to come.  I run a few of my tin foil theories about the presence of "A"s by Candi and whether they have a larger meaning for the spinoffs and main series as a whole.

We had a few audio issues in this episode, so apologies for that! Riverside was a bit glitchy this week.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi is back this week to discuss episode 3 of "The Ones Who Live" entitled "Bye."

The writers told us to let go of a precise timeline and we discuss whether we're on the same page with that decision. We're three episodes in and hadn't yet talked about the opening sequence and theme song, so we share our reflections on that.  I ask Candi how the show opening compares to the other spinoffs.  We had a LOT of thoughts about Rick's big escape plan and loved every bit of Michonne's reaction to it.

We've seen two women visit Rick in his apartment so far and neither one of them is Michonne.  We talk about the two women - Jadis and Thorne - who have visited Rick in his new home and whether or not we trust them.  Spoiler alert: we don't.

Thanks so much for listening! We will be back next week to discuss episode 4.  Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi is back this week to discuss episode 2 of "The Ones Who Live" entitled "Gone." We talk about Michonne's journey to find Rick and appreciate that despite encounters with human dangers like Negan and the Whisperers in the main series, we find her still open to new people. We also discuss her decision to withhold information about RJ from Rick.

Of course, we had to celebrate the amazing performance by Matthew Jeffers as Nat.  We praise Jeffers' performance and talk about his amazing chemistry with Dana Guirira, which is likely due to the two having prior acting history together.  Speaking of  chemistry, we loved all of the kissing and reconnecting between Richonne in this episode.  And we unpack our frustration with the character who threatened our favorite couple this week - Jadis, the wild card.

Thanks so much for listening! We will be back next week to discuss episode 3.  Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

My amazing conversation with Jay Giles about The Wire concludes with a bonus segment in which we reflect on the series as a whole. We share which season was our favorite and why.  And of course I had to ask Jay about the "controversial" second season of the series and whether or not he enjoyed it.  We talk about satisfying character deaths, our favorite moment of comeuppance, and other memorable character introductions beyond the pilot.

Happy Wine Wednesday! In anticipation of the premiere of "The Ones Who Live" AKA the Richonne spinoff, Candi is back this week to discuss everything we love about this ship.  And on a programming note, we will be doing episode-by-episode coverage of "The Ones Who Live".

For this very special Richonne episode, we start off by talking about the characters individually and what we like so much about them.  From there, we get into all things Richonne.  We share the moment when we first started to see the romantic potential for the duo, the buildup to the pair becoming official, and where the writers left them at the end of The Walking Dead.  Of course we talk about the Grimes family as a whole and some of our favorite moments with them and we each share our favorite Richonne episode.

My conversation with Jay about the pilot episode of The Wire continues! If you haven't listened to part 1 of our conversation, check it out here.  In this final part of our discussion about the pilot, we talk about what worked well in the episode and whether we would change anything about this well executed hour of television.  We examine whether The Wire is copaganda and close out the discussion with the thirst segment.  I asked Jay to do some thirst-inspired casting for the show.

Thank you so much for listening! There will be a new episode next Wine Wednesday and keep an eye on your feed for the bonus segment in which Jay and I share reflections about The Wire beyond the pilot.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Lauren returns to the podcast this week to discuss the Barbie movie.  We talk character arcs and our surprise about the film being named Barbie and featuring so much Barbie . . . and Ken.  That said, there's no denying that Ryan Gosling was the perfect fit for the role.  And Margot Robbie was born to play Barbie.  it's WILD to think that anyone other than Robbie was ever considered for the role - looking at you, Amy Schumer.

Congrats to America Ferrara and Ryan Gosling for their Oscar nominations! Of course we talk about Ferrara's big speech and whether or not it worked for us.  Her delivery of the speech was riveting, but we both wish that Gerwig had trusted her audience a little more with the film's messaging.

This movie was such a visual delight, so of course we get into favorite Barbie outfits and favorite set from the film.  I also asked Lauren to tell me who her Barbie would be and what she would wear.  We also applaud the film's inclusiveness, but would have loved a lot more LGBTQ+ representation.

Happy Wine Wednesday! And welcome to 2024.  New podcast episodes are underway, but in honor of the The Bear's well deserved awards at the Golden Globes, I wanted to revisit my discussion with Rev. Solomon Missouri about the amazing second season of this series.

We unpack character development, the amazing guest stars, and of course we talk all things "Fishes".  As always, Solomon is funny and insightful - I could listen to him talk about this series forever!

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi is back and we are unpacking the pilot episode of one of my favorite series of all time - The Tudors.

Y'all know how I love a period piece, so there are some fun historical facts sprinkled throughout the episode.  Special shoutout to Alison Weir - my go to author for all things Tudor dynasty.  You can find all of her work here.

Candi and I  share impressions of the pilot as an introduction to the series, the brilliance of Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VIII, and we demand justice for the many, many women who had the misfortune of being married to Henry.

If you haven't watched this series, we are here to tell you why you should get into it.  It's a perfect holiday binge.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi returns to discuss a show that you should absolutely be watching - the Starz network series Raising Kanan.  The show's third season premieres on Friday, December 1, so we thought this was a perfect time to revisit the pilot and hopefully introduce folks to their new favorite binge watch!

As always, we discuss opening scenes, memorable character introductions, and there's no way you can discuss Raising Kanan without saluting the amazing work by the show's wardrobe department.

It brought me so much joy to celebrate this talented cast, particularly the extraordinary Patina Miller and Mekai Curtis.  Y'all know I love a series where female characters get to be messy, villainous, sexual, and just generally layered and complicated.  Miller's Racquel Thomas is right up there with Gemma Teller-Morrow (Sons of Anarchy), Cersei Lannister (Game of Thrones), and Annalise Keating (How to Get Away with Murder) when it comes to fictional female characters whose rights and wrongs I support and delight in watching.

Happy Wine Wednesday! There are few things that will happily get me out of my love of shows featuring the Roman empire and one of them is a show that lets women be messy and complicated.  In that spirit, Candi is back this week and we are talking about the pilot episode of the NBC series "Good Girls" starring Christina Hendricks, Retta, and Mae Whitman.

We talk about our introduction to Beth, Ruby, and Annie and the show's surprising premise around three women who decide to rob a grocery store.  I had a fun time asking Candi to answer some random prompts inspired by the pilot, which included us talking about the most ridiculous thing we've ever done to conform with beauty standards inspired by Beth's awkward waxing scene.  We also talk about whether we are the Beth, Ruby, or Annie if we decide to start a criminal enterprise and I ask Candi whether the women were hustling backwards when they decided to only take money from the grocery store.  I mean - it's a grocery store! Wouldn't you grab some steak or seafood? In this economy even eggs and butter are at premium prices!

Happy Wine Wednesday - and happy birthday to me! I knew this episode was being published on my birthday, so I wanted to discuss the pilot of one of my favorite series of all time - Spartacus.

Candi is back and she very aptly notes that I spend a lot of time thinking about the Roman Empire.  This time around we are talking gladiators and slave rebellions in this series centered on its namesake, who was brilliantly portrayed by both Andy Whitfield and Liam McIntyre.

As we did with our discussion about the Rome pilot, I sprinkle in a few historical pointers here and there.  And as always, we talk character introductions, what worked well in the pilot, and we tell you why you should continue on with the series.  We celebrate Spartacus for giving us complicated, messy female characters.  We also salute the fight choreography and Andy Whitfield's brilliant ability to make Spartacus's strength and fighting ability completely believable despite not being the most towering figure.

Friendly reminder - we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Sheena returns this week to discuss the pilot episode of a series that stars one of my all time favorite messy characters - How To Get Away With Murder.  Long time listeners know how much I adore when women get to be messy, flawed, and complicated.  Few have done it better than Viola Davis in her brilliant portrayal of Annalise Keating.

As we do with all Shondaland shows, we talk about what the HTGAWM "imprint" is.  Scandal has the fast talking monologues, Grey's has the opening/closing narration from Meredith - what's the HTGAWM imprint? Likewise, as with the other shows in the Shonda-verse, we talk about the location and whether Philadelphia is as impactful to this series as Washington, DC is to Scandal.

Y'all know we unpack the memorable character introductions, particularly the manner in which the writers introduce us to Annalise and help frame her world in the pilot. We also talk about which introductions to the Keating 5 (who I like to refer to as the "Murder Muppet Babies") and whom among them left a strong impression with us in the pilot.

Given that Sheena and I are both attorneys, it should come as no surprise that we had some thoughts about HTGAWM's portrayal of law school and Annalise's approach to practicing law and advocating on behalf of her clients.

As always, we have a HTGAWM inspired thirst segment in which we swoon over cast members and share the celebrity crushes with whom we'd like to recreate that Annalise/Nate scene.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi makes her triumphant return to the podcast to help me celebrate 100 episodes of the podcast!  In honor of this special occasion, I decided to talk about one of my absolute favorite series of all time - HBO's Rome.

Candi and I unpack the pilot episode of the series.  I was delighted that she loved the show so much that she ended up watching the whole thing! This episode focuses on the pilot only and I think we make a convincing case as to why you should keep watching if you are also new to the series.  We'll definitely be revisiting more of it now that I know Candi loved it as much as I did.

The episode kicks off with a few reflections on reaching 100 and then we get into all things Rome.  As with all of our pilot episode discussions, we reflect on character introductions, writing choices, what we thought was effectively done, and we close with the thirst segment.  I also sprinkle in a few historical tidbits for a little razzle dazzle.

It was such a pleasure to mark this exciting occasion not only by discussing a show that I love, but it was a great opportunity to celebrate the amazingly talented Ray Stevens.  His portrayal of Titus Pullo is truly the heart of this entire series.

Many thanks to each and every guest who has given their time to the podcast.  It was an honor to speak to each and every one of you.  And thank YOU, listeners, for your support.  I love you and I appreciate you.

Happy Wine Wednesday, Pitches! Sheena joins me this week to discuss a beloved show that was cancelled far too soon - Pitch.  We unpack the pilot episode of the show and work through some of our salty feelings about this fantastic series only getting one season.

We kick off by discussing our introduction to Ginny Baker - portrayed by the amazing Kylie Bunbury - and the use of sports commentary to help us get acquainted with the glass ceiling smashing pitcher and the world in which she is making her debut as the first woman to be called up to a Major League Baseball team.

Next, we get into memorable character introductions outside of Ginny.  We talk about the influence and abuse of her father Bill Baker (Michael Beach).  We discuss Amelia (Ali Larter) as Ginny's no nonsense agent and we swoon over Blip Sanders (Mo McRae).

We share our thoughts on what worked well in the pilot and whether there was anything we would have done differently.  And as always, you know we got into our thirsty thoughts inspired by this very hot cast.

Friendly reminder: we drink, we know things, we use adult language, and we have a great time.

Thanks so much for listening!

Happy Wine Wednesday! I am delighted to welcome back the brilliant, hilarious, and insightful Reverend Solomon Missouri to talk about the incredible second season of The Bear.  I had a great time discussing the first season of The Bear with Solomon, so I was thrilled when he enthusiastically agreed to return to talk more about this show we love so very much.

One of the reasons why The Bear resonated so much with me is because I often feel seen, attacked, or sometimes both by the writing for certain characters.  So with that in mind, I asked Solomon to share the character beats that resonated most with him this season.

We delve deeper into the character arcs by sharing the ones we enjoyed most.  It should come as a surprise to no one that we both loved what the writers did with Richie this season.  Of course we get into the standout episodes of the season - we spend a lot of time unpacking the parade of stars and stellar performances in the chaotic episode "Fishes."

As always, the episode ends with the thirst segment in which our thoughts and reflections go from wholesome to lusty.  In honor of Carmy's trip down memory lane with Claire, I asked Solomon who he would like to pitch a little woo to if he was gifted a time machine that would make all the beautiful people throughout history fair game for his affection.

We also get into the fandom shipping wars.  It's time for y'all to come home from war - your families miss you.  We talk Carmy x Claire, Carmy x Syd, and Marcus x Syd.  Shippers aren't going to get on the same page about Carmy's perfect mate, so I ask Solomon whether Ebra x Tina are the couple that perhaps the shippers could unite behind and finally find some peace.

Thank you so much for listening!

Happy Wine Wednesday! Jay Giles returns to the podcast this week to discuss one of our favorite fictional characters - Raylan Givens.  Long time listeners will recall that Jay previously joined me to discuss the Justified pilot and share reflections on the series as a whole, so it only made sense to have him back to discuss our thoughts on the first episode of Justified: City Primeval.

We follow the lead of the writers and kickoff our conversation with our thoughts on our re-introduction to Raylan Givens.  The writers wasted no time in giving us a peek into how Raylan has grown as both a father and a law enforcement officer since we last saw him in the Justified finale.

The "City Primeval" in this series is Detroit, so we discuss this new location for the next chapter in the Raylan Givens story and how it shapes the story and the world in which Raylan is now navigating.  OG Justified fans know that Detroit was definitely a location visited in the original series, but there's definitely a different feel to it now that the Motor City is the center of this season.

As with the original series, Timothy Olyphant is surrounded by a very talented group of actors.  Jay and I talk about how much fun it was to see talented actors like Vondie Curtis Hall, Aunjanue Ellis, Amin Joseph, and Keith David in the opening episode.

We talk about what was well done in the pilot, what didn't work so well, and our wishlist for the season.  And as always, we close out with the thirst segment and a few prompts inspired by this revival.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Philip of Fandom Bite/Fandom Slash returns to the podcast this week to discuss the delightful Amazon Freevee series, Primo. As we wisely counseled you in the past about shows such as Grand Crew, Abbott Elementary, and Wu-Tang: An American Saga, this is some sh*t you should absolutely be watching.  "Freevee" means this show is FREE with very minimal commercials, so there is absolutely nothing keeping you from checking it out.  You can find it here.

Primo is a heartwarming, funny show based on the life of the show's creator Shea Serrano.  Philip and I discuss the pilot and then share our thoughts about the first season as a whole.  Of course we tackle the very difficult task of figuring out which uncle is our favorite.  We love the uncles as an exploration into masculinity and the respective points of view they bring to their relationship with Rafa.  We also discuss our thoughts about Rafa and Drea - the casting for both of these characters was absolutely perfect.

We really hope this wonderful show gets another season.  Pay the writers and actors so we can get more of this delightful family! In that spirit, we close the discussion with our wish list for season 2. And in the thirst segment, I asked Philip to give me some thirst-inspired choices for actors he'd like to see join this very talented cast.

Happy Wine Wednesday! The Righteous Gemstones are FINALLY returning for a new season, so I thought this was a perfect time to revisit the pilot episode of this amazing HBO series.

We kick off our discussion with the cold open in which we get a preview into the Gemstone family dynamics during a 24-hour baptism marathon in China. We then discuss our introductions to Eli, Jesse, Judy, and Kelvin as we follow them to their respective homes.  I had a lot of questions about Jesse's evening routine.

We love all of the shows in the Danny McBride-verse, so of course we talk about his imprint on on this show - particularly the dialogue between characters.  As always, we close out the discussion with our less than wholesome thirsty thoughts.  We discuss the need for a scientific exploration of the stereotypes about preacher's kids and which famous preacher's kid we would choose to carry out this very important research.

Happy Wine Wednesday! Candi is back and this week we are discussing the spectacular second season of NBC's Grand Crew.  Y'all know from our season 1 discussion that we love this show and the second season only deepened our appreciation for it.

Grand Crew continues to be a perfect comfort show.  The writers did an amazing job at highlighting the chemistry among this spectacularly talented cast.

We talk about our favorite character arcs, standout episodes and shared what we thought worked well during the season.  And of course we discussed the shocking departure of Grasie Mercedes.  We want Fay back!

We are determined to manifest a well deserved renewal for Grand Crew, so we talked about our wish list for season 3. And as always, the discussion wraps on a thirsty note.
