Philemon was a convert of Paul and a leader in the church of Colossae. Philemon had an unresolved relationship with a previous slave that had done him wrong. The slave, Onesimus had become a brother in Christ and Paul was sending him back to Philemon with a plea to accept Onesimus back as a brother. This letter holds deep lessons for us concerning forgiveness and true brotherhood in the Lord.

The author, Ezekiel himself, uses signs, visions, parables and apocalptics. The book holds a twofold theme: Condemnation and Consolation. Reference to "Knowing God" is references 69 times in Ezekiel. We will all know God - either by coercion or by choice; we will all bow our knee to the Lord Jesus Christ. Will we do it now by choice? Or will we do it later by coercion?

The theme of this book is "Salvation" and the key word is "Judgement". Isaiah is mentioned 85 times in the New Testament. Isaiah contains 60+ prophecies. Peter Stoner in "Science Speaks" says the chance of 1 man fulfilling even 8 of these prophecies is 1 in 100,000,000,000,000,000...JESUS fulfilled them all in exact minute detail. Only through the Spirit of God could there be such accuracy.

This book was written by Ezra and records the return of the exiles from captivity in Babylon(or Persia), and shows how God's promise to bring His people back to their land is fulfilled. There are many insightful lessons found in the book of Ezra but today Pastor Mark's focus in on just one....God alone can turn hearts! Singular Focus: God alone can turn the King's heart. Today's stop on our trip through the 66 books of the Bible finds us in II Kings. This book continues the drama begun in I Kings--the tragic history of 2 nations on a collision course with captivity. The book systematically traces the reigning monarchs of Israel and Judah, first by carrying one nation's history forward, then retracing the same period of history for the other nation. One of the kings mentioned was a young boy named Josiah. He was only 8 yrs old when he began his rule. He lived in a dark, lost world yet he initiated change and transformation, not only in his own life, but throughout the nation....and it all began with scripture. Will the same be said of us?

This book naturally divides itself into 2 sections: The united kingdom (chapters 1-11) and the divided kingdom (chapters 12-22). The first half of the book is about Solomon, the wisest and richest person to ever live. The second half of the book is about the 4 kings in Judah and the 8 kings in Israel who followed Solomon. A journey that would normally take 10-14 days, it took them nearly 39 years. Why? The sin of rebellion.
