On the same day the FBI also seizes the phone of Guggenheim Investments President Dina DiLorenzo. The investigation involves Guggenheim's $362 billion money management arm and two of Walter's insurance companies — Delaware Life Insurance and Clear Spring — which reclassified $4.6 billion in loans as affiliated. Nobody knows any of this publicly. Ten months pass. July 2026 — Bloomberg makes the full investigation public. July 23 — Donald Trump hosts Walter at the White House for a Los Angeles Dodgers World Series ring ceremony. They are photographed together smiling. In our opinion a deal of this size does not come together in days without extraordinary external pressure. The question is what form that pressure took and who applied it.

Josh Kushner is Jared Kushner's younger brother. Their father Charles Kushner is Trump's ambassador to France. Bob Iger already held a 3.3% stake in Thrive Capital — Josh's investment firm — before this deal was announced. They were already financially entangled before the Lakers transaction. Eight days before the Lakers sale was announced, Jared Kushner's investment firm Affinity Partners closed a $55 billion acquisition of Electronic Arts alongside Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund. Saudi Arabia is now the majority owner of Madden NFL, EA Sports FC, Battlefield, The Sims, Apex Legends, College Football, and every game your children play on an EA platform. Jared Kushner's Affinity Partners received $2 billion from that same Saudi sovereign wealth fund after he left the White House at the end of Trump's first term. Jared is simultaneously the Special Envoy for Peace in the Middle East while Gaza is being bombed. He said on camera in February 2025 that Gaza's waterfront could be very valuable real estate. The House Judiciary Committee is currently investigating him for conflicts of interest between his diplomatic role and his financial relationship with Saudi Arabia.
