If you watched the season finale of House of the Dragon, you might have been shocked to learn that Aegon's dragon is still alive. But being a wealth advisor, Faisal couldn't help but spot how the House Targaryen mistook a distributed asset (dragons) for a diversified one.

This is a lesson on how fragmentation is not the same as diversification, and the risk of concentration can slowly creep in without you realising it. Is it necessarily bad?

The better AI gets at analysis, the more we need to lean into what makes us human. As a financial advisor, that means reading people and understanding their relationship with money. A logically sound portfolio isn't always the one that makes someone happy. Decades of sound investing logic never convinced my father to enter the markets. My value as a human advisor isn't to win that argument, it's to understand why, and build something he can comfortably live with.

Newton piled into South Sea Company stock right near its peak in the summer of 1720, swept up by the momentum everyone else seemed to be riding. He bet the rise would keep rolling on its own inertia. Instead, the bubble burst within months, and he rode it all the way down.
