Derek Nunn spent years in Hollywood production working alongside some of the biggest names in film and television. Kwabi owns Pierce Bus and won the Tacoma Peace Prize for his humanitarian work in this city. A documentary project brought the three of us together — and now we're in the middle of building something that's never been done here: Tacoma's first-ever sitcom.

My dad played guitar alongside Stevie Wonder in 1977, helped bring The Winans to Washington State for $3,500 before they ever won a Grammy, and built the home recording studio I learned everything in. Three years ago, in his late 60s, he started posting a gospel song every single Thursday on Facebook — and one video hit 92,000 views. This is that story.
