In Episode 3, Carly shares the story of her experience with Bell’s palsy, from waking up one morning and realizing something was wrong, to navigating the uncertainty of facial paralysis and a recovery that has required far more patience than she ever expected.

She opens up about the early days, the fear and frustration that came with not knowing when or how much movement would return, and the many treatments and therapies she tried along the way.

But this episode is about more than Bell’s palsy. Carly shares what it was like to suddenly not recognize herself in the mirror, the emotional toll of waiting for progress, and the small milestones that eventually started to feel like huge victories.

Now, nearly five months into recovery, she reflects on how much has changed, what the experience has taught her about patience and resilience, and why sometimes progress looks a lot different than you imagined it would.

In Episode 2, Kat shares her personal journey with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), from the first symptoms and uncertainty of not knowing what was happening, to receiving her diagnosis and learning how to navigate life with MS.

She opens up about the medications and treatments she’s tried, the challenges she’s faced along the way, and the ongoing process of finding what works best for her.

But what stands out most about Kat’s story is the way she refuses to let MS define her. She is honest about the hard days and the uncertainty that comes with MS, but she continues to approach life with incredible positivity, strength, and perspective.

In our very first episode, we're introducing ourselves, sharing how Between Neighbors came to be, and giving you a little glimpse into the stories that brought us here. Carly briefly addresses what's going on with her face as she is recovering from Bell's palsy, while Kat opens up about living with MS and why our health journeys ultimately pushed us to start having these conversations out loud.

We also answer a few questions so you can get to know us beyond the diagnoses.
