In our first interview, we sit down with Nancy DesRosiers, a former SEPTA president, to talk about the story behind SEPTA and the community that helped shape it. Nancy shares how SEPTA began, what it has meant to families and educators in our community, and the experiences that have made this organization so meaningful.

We also look ahead to what SEPTA can become, what our community needs, and how we can keep building a place where families feel supported, connected, and heard. This conversation lays the foundation for our podcast and for the next chapter of SEPTA. We’re excited to share where we’ve been, where we are today, and where we hope to go together.

In this first episode, I’m introducing myself and sharing why I decided to create this podcast. As a parent, educator, and advocate, I’ve seen how overwhelming it can be to navigate special education and find the right support for your child. I created this podcast to bring parents, educators, advocates, and community members together to have honest conversations about special education, inclusion, advocacy, and what it takes to create a community where every student is understood, supported, and celebrated.

I’ll share a little about my own journey, what inspired me to start this podcast, and what I hope it can become for the families and educators listening.
