Guru Nanak names eight different ways human beings turn toward God, and in this first half of the Pauri we walk through the first four pairs:

· Power and Gift — the awe that admits its own smallness, and the gratitude that traces every blessing back to its Giver.

· Virtue and Knowledge — devotion through contemplating Divine qualities, and devotion through wrestling honestly with life's hardest questions.

· The Maker and Unmaker of Life — praise that looks directly at the body's arc from dust to form and back to dust, and at the soul's journey through death and rebirth.

· Far and Near — the Divine as impossibly transcendent, and the Divine as intimately present in the very next breath.

Along the way we return to Guru Nanak's own life — his debates with Siddha yogis and Pandits at Mount Sumeru and Achal Batala, his encounter with Emperor Babur, and the three days in the Bein River that changed everything — to see how each of these eight songs were actually lived, not just written.

There's no ranking here, no single correct path — just eight doorways into the same House.

Part 2 completes the Third Pauri, exploring the endless abundance of Divine praise and the closing image of a God who blossoms forth, forever free of care.
