What does a Spirit-filled life actually look like?

After the power of Pentecost in Acts 2, the story doesn’t end with a moment - it continues into everyday life. In Acts 2:42–47, we see a beautiful picture of the early Church: devoted to the Word, united in fellowship, living life together, and walking in continual prayer.

This wasn’t a strategy.
It wasn’t a program.
It was the result of hearts transformed by the Spirit of God.

In Acts 2, the Holy Spirit is poured out, and everything changes.

The disciples, once waiting in prayer, are suddenly filled with power.
Ordinary people become bold witnesses.
The gospel begins to move outward… to the ends of the earth.

But this isn’t just a moment in history.

This is a picture of how Jesus continues His work today—through His Church, by the power of His Spirit.

Acts 1:9-11

What really happened when Jesus ascended into heaven?

In this Bible study, we look at Book of Acts 1:9–11 and connect it to Book of Daniel 7 to see the ascension not as Christ’s departure, but as His coronation.

From the perspective of earth, Jesus goes up.
From the perspective of heaven, the Son of Man comes before the Father and is given all authority, glory, and an everlasting kingdom.

We also explore:
How Jesus fulfills God’s promise to David
What it means that “all authority” has been given to Christ
Why Satan is still active even though Christ reigns
The reality of two kingdoms and two humanities: in Adam and in Christ
How the Church participates in Christ’s present reign through the power of the Holy Spirit

This study helps us understand not just what happened at the ascension, but what is happening right now in the world—and what it means for our lives.

Jesus is not absent.
He is reigning.
And His kingdom is advancing.

Before the Church was sent into the world, Jesus gave one clear command: wait.

In Acts 1, the disciples are ready to move, ready to act, ready to step into the mission, but Jesus tells them not to go, not to act, but to wait for the promise of the Father: the Holy Spirit.

In this opening message, we explore what it means to truly depend on God... not just in theory, but in practice. The mission of the Church is not built on human effort, strategy, or activity, but on the presence and power of God working in and through His people.

As we begin this journey through Acts, we are reminded of a foundational truth:

Apart from Christ, we can do nothing.

Acts Series Introduction: The Story Continues

Throughout this series we will split the teaching between our Thursday morning Bible study and our Sunday morning Services.  Thursdays we will slow down and see the beauty of this book, and Sunday mornings we will experience the power.

As we begin our study through the Book of Acts, we start by laying a foundation for understanding what this book is, and why it matters for the life of the Church today.

The Book of Acts, written by Luke, is the second volume of a two-part work that begins with the Gospel of Luke. In his Gospel, Luke records all that Jesus began to do and teach. In Acts, he shows us what Jesus continues to do after His resurrection and ascension.

This means Acts is not simply a history of the early Church.
It is the ongoing work of Christ, carried out through His people by the power of the Holy Spirit.

In this introductory study, we consider:

The connection between Luke and Acts
Luke’s role as a careful and credible historian
The reliability of the biblical account
The broader story of Scripture leading into Acts
The central theme of Jesus continuing His work through His Church

We also begin to see how Acts connects to God’s promises in the Old Testament, including the promise that He would give His people a new heart and place His Spirit within them.

As we move forward in this series, our aim is not only to understand what happened in the early Church, but to recognize how Christ is still at work today.

The Church does not create the mission of God.
The Church participates in the life and work of God.

He Is Risen… But What Does That Actually Mean?

Every Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. We say the words. We rejoice. But have we truly grasped what it means... for us?

In this message, we move beyond the familiar story and into the deeper reality of the resurrection. Through a powerful illustration of modern-day slavery, we see a clear picture of humanity’s condition, bound by sin, carrying a debt we could never repay.

But with the gospel comes our redemption.

Jesus didn’t just die, He paid the full debt of sin. And because the payment was complete, death no longer had any claim on Him. That’s why He rose.

The resurrection is not just proof that Jesus is alive—it is the declaration that sin has been defeated, death has lost its claim, and all who are in Christ will rise with Him.

“He is risen” means the debt is paid.
“He is risen” means death is defeated.
“He is risen” means we will rise too.

What is Palm Sunday really about?

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds shouted, “Blessed is the King!” They believed their long-awaited Savior had finally come. But what they expected - and what Jesus actually came to do - were not the same.

In this message, we trace the story from creation and the fall… through God’s promises of a coming King… to the moment Jesus enters Jerusalem - not on a war horse, but on a donkey.

He came as the rightful King.
But not to take a throne the way anyone expected.

As Jesus weeps over Jerusalem, He reveals a sobering truth:
“You did not know the time of your visitation.”

And that raises a question for all of us:

- Would we have recognized Him?
- Or are we still looking for a different kind of Savior?

This message invites you to see Jesus clearly... not just as the King who came, but as the King who came for you.

Many people think of idolatry as an ancient problem - golden statues and pagan temples. But the Bible reveals that idolatry is actually a problem of the human heart. 

In Exodus 32, the people of Israel build the bolden calf only weeks afternoon witnessing the power and glory of God at Mount Sinai. Instead of trusting the living God, they create a version of God they can control.

In this message from our series, 'A Look in the Mirror', we explore how the same temptation still exists today.  The human hearts still tries to reshape God into something manageable - something that allows us to keep religious language and identity without the repentance and obedience that the real God requires.

But idols have no power to save us.

Only the living God can carry the weight of our lives

From the very beginning, God made a promise: He would be the one to redeem, restore, and save His people.

And yet, the story of humanity tells a different story—one of striving, grasping, and trying to take control. Like Abraham and Sarah, we often struggle to trust God’s timing and His way. We try to force outcomes, manufacture solutions, and accomplish what only God can do.

But every attempt to save ourselves only leads to more brokenness.

In this message, we look into the mirror and confront a difficult truth:
We are not the saviors—we are the ones in need of saving.

And the good news is this: God’s promises are not dependent on our ability to fulfill them.

He is faithful, even when we are not.

This message invites us to stop striving, release control, and trust the One who has already promised to do what we never could.
