In Part 2 of The Rise of Zeus, Ellis tells the story of Typhon, the monstrous child of Gaia who rises to challenge Zeus and claim the throne of the cosmos. Follow Zeus as he faces the terrifying Typhon, suffers a devastating defeat, and must find a way to recover his stolen thunderbolt and tendons. With the help of the gods and the mortal Cadmus, Zeus prepares for one final battle that will decide who rules the heavens.

After the story, the episode takes a trip to Egypt to explore the connections between the Greek gods and Egyptian mythology, looking at the gods' animal transformations and the ways Greek and Egyptian gods were sometimes identified with one another.

Ellis then explores the different ancient versions of the Typhon myth, comparing Hesiod's Theogony with the works of Apollodorus, Ovid, Antoninus Liberalis, and Nonnus’s  Dionysiaca. Discover how these different accounts shaped Ellis' own "remix" of the myth, including Typhon's appearance, the gods fleeing to Egypt, Zeus' defeat, and Cadmus' role in helping Zeus reclaim his thunderbolt.

Finally, Ellis compares Zeus' battles with Typhon to Thor's encounters with the Midgard Serpent, Jörmungandr, and explores the similarities between these two legendary battles between thunder gods and giant serpents.

In Part 1 of The Rise of Zeus, Ellis tells the story of the Titanomachy, the ten-year war between Zeus, his allies, and the old generation of Titans. Follow Zeus as he gathers allies, descends into Tartarus, battles the monstrous Campe, and frees the Cyclopes and the Hundred-Handed Ones. With powerful new weapons and new allies at his side, Zeus finally leads the younger gods into the battle that will decide the fate of the cosmos.

After the story, Ellis explores the different ancient versions of the Titanomachy, comparing Hesiod's Theogony with the works of Apollodorus, Homer, and Nonnus. Discover how these different accounts shaped Ellis' own "remix" of the myth, including the rescue of the Hundred-Handed Ones, the battle with Campe, and the division of the cosmos between Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades.

The episode then takes a step back from the Titanomachy to explore why different mythologies can sometimes contain similar stories. Ellis examines Proto-Indo-European mythology and the possibility that some similarities between mythological traditions may preserve traces of much older cultural traditions.
