Why am so tired all the time when I feel like I didn’t even accomplish that much? If you’re an overwhelmed mom carrying the mental load of motherhood, struggling with mom guilt, and wondering why you feel completely exhausted at the end of the day, this episode of The Rooted Mother is for you.

As moms, we can spend our entire day doing a thousand tiny things, homeschooling, caring for our kids, breaking up arguments, making meals, managing the house, thinking ahead, carrying everyone’s needs, and trying to find time for God, and still end the day feeling like we didn’t do enough.

In this episode I open up about what Christian mom burnout has looked like in my own life, including the mental and emotional exhaustion of motherhood, losing my temper with my kids, feeling guilty when homeschooling doesn't go as planned, trying to build a business while raising four children, and realizing that I don't always know how to truly rest.

But what if your exhaustion isn't because you're lazy or not doing enough?

What if you're simply carrying too much and trying to do it all at once?

In this episode, we talk about:

Why the mental load of motherhood can be more exhausting than the physical work

Why overwhelmed moms often feel guilty for needing rest

The connection between mom burnout, perfectionism, and unrealistic expectations

Why scrolling and distraction aren't always the same thing as true rest

What the Bible says about rest and why God actually commands it

Exodus 34:21 and God's design for Sabbath and rest

Psalm 127:2 and the temptation to live as though everything depends on us

The story of Mary and Martha in Luke 10 and what it teaches us about being busy with good things

How to recognize what God is actually asking you to focus on today

The "power of ONE" and why doing one thing at a time can help you let go of overwhelm

How to surrender the things you can't control and trust God with what remains unfinished

What realistic rest can look like when you're a mom with young children

The difference between true rest and simply escaping your exhaustion

Most importantly, this is a reminder for the exhausted mom who feels like she's failing:

You are not exhausted because you're lazy. You may simply be carrying way too much and trying to do it all at once. And you don't have to carry it all. God has you.

If you've been struggling with mom guilt, don't forget to grab my free Mom Guilt vs. God's Truth resource. It will help you recognize guilt-filled thoughts and replace them with the truth of what God says about you.

Find the free resource in the show notes.

And if this episode encouraged you, share it with another overwhelmed mom who needs the reminder that she doesn't have to do it all today.

You can't see the roots growing. You can't force a seed to produce fruit before it's ready. You can prepare the soil, plant the seed, water it, pull the weeds, and care for it, but ultimately, God gives the growth.

And isn't that true in our lives too?

As Christian moms, we often want to see the fruit immediately. We want to know that our prayers are working. We want to see our children grow in their faith. We want to become more patient, peaceful, and trusting overnight. We want to know that we're finally making progress.

But what if God is growing roots before He's producing fruit?

This episode is a reminder that not every season is a harvest season. Ecclesiastes 3 tells us there is a season for everything, and a garden gives us a beautiful picture of what that means.

There are seasons of:

🌱 Preparing the soil
🌱 Planting
🌱 Waiting
🌱 Growing
🌱 Pulling weeds
🌱 Pruning
🌱 Harvesting
🌱 Cleaning up and preparing for what's next

If you're an overwhelmed Christian mom who feels like you're stuck, behind, waiting on God, struggling to trust His timing, or wondering why you can't see the growth you're praying for, I hope this episode reminds you:

You don't have to force yourself into the next season. You can be faithful in the season God has you in right now.

Maybe you're looking at what feels like a patch of dirt in your life and wondering why nothing is happening.

But God may be growing something you can't see yet.

In this episode, we'll talk about:

What the Garden of Eden teaches us about God

Why God uses gardens, seeds, soil, roots, and fruit throughout Scripture

The Parable of the Sower and what it means to examine the soil of our hearts

How fear, guilt, comparison, anxiety, and resentment can take root

How to recognize and replace lies with God's truth

Why spiritual growth often happens beneath the surface

How to trust God when you can't see what He's doing

Why you can plant and water, but God gives the growth

How to stop trying to control outcomes you were never meant to control

What gardening teaches us about waiting on God's timing

What the Bible says about seasons of life

Why not every season of motherhood is a harvest season

How to trust God through seasons of waiting, pruning, planting, and preparation

What it means to be rooted in Christ instead of rooted in our circumstances

How to grow deeper in your relationship with God during difficult seasons

Scriptures mentioned: Genesis 2–3, Matthew 13, 1 Corinthians 3:6, Ecclesiastes 3, and John 15.

Mama, if you're in a season where you can't see the fruit yet, don't assume God has forgotten you.

The growth begins where you can't see it.

Stay rooted. Trust the Gardener. And remember that even when you can't see what God is doing, He is still working.

Support the show

✨ Free Gift for You: If mom guilt has been weighing on your heart, I've created a free printable, God's Truth vs. Mom Guilt, to help you replace the lies with God's truth.

Are you an overwhelmed mom wondering if motherhood is always going to feel this hard? Maybe you're dealing with mom guilt, burnout, anger, anxiety, postpartum depression, exhaustion, or the feeling that you're trapped in a season that will never change.

In this episode of The Rooted Mother, we're talking about the truth that right now is not forever. When motherhood feels like too much and you can't see a way forward, God hasn't forgotten you, and you were never meant to carry it all on your own.

We're looking at Deuteronomy 31:8, where God promises that He goes before us, stays with us, and will never leave or forsake us. We'll also look at the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19, a man who reached the point of saying, “I've had enough, Lord,” and discover what his story teaches us about exhaustion, weakness, rest, and depending on God.

I'll also share my personal experience with postpartum depression after having my fourth child, Joshua, eight years after my youngest. Having such a large age gap gave me something I didn't have when I experienced postpartum depression with my first three children: perspective. I could finally see right in front of me that the baby stage, sleepless nights, diapers, and constant demands of motherhood really do end.

But knowing a season is temporary doesn't mean it's easy.

You can love your children and still feel overwhelmed.
You can be grateful for motherhood and still need a break.
You can have faith and still have hard days.
You can know this season will end and still need God to carry you through today.

And that's the reminder I want you to take away from this episode:

You don't have to carry forever today.

You just have to let Jesus meet you in right now.

If you're an overwhelmed Christian mom who feels stuck, exhausted, guilty, or like you're failing, I hope this episode reminds you that God is with you in the middle of this season, and right now is not forever.

✨ FREE RESOURCE: God's Truth vs. Mom Guilt
If you're struggling with mom guilt and need help replacing the lies you're believing with God's truth, grab my free God's Truth vs. Mom Guilt resource here:
https://www.rootedandthrivingmama.com/gods-truth-vs-mom-guilt

If this episode encouraged you, please consider leaving a review and sharing it with another mom who needs the reminder that she isn't alone.

You may feel alone, but feeling alone and being alone are not the same thing.
