Created for those who desire lasting transformation, this podcast guides you through the daily practice of renewing your mind through the work of the indwelling Holy Spirit. In a world filled with pressure, noise, and constant demands, many attempt to change through effort, discipline, and control. True transformation does not come from striving. Transformation comes as the mind yields to the Spirit of God already at work within. Your host is Eric Hayes, minister, teacher, and author of The Yielded Mind. His work equips believers to step out of self-driven effort and walk in daily surrender, where the Holy Spirit brings lasting change from within. This is not a podcast for reflection. This is a pathway to transformation.

As God reveals His truth, false identities begin to fall away, and we discover who we truly are and to whom we truly belong.

In today's episode, author Eric Hayes is joined by his friend David Kimball, who holds a Master of Divinity from Duke University and leads the Freedom in Christ curriculum at Triad Church in Greensboro, North Carolina. Together they reflect on one of Scripture's most personal and comforting promises:

"Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine." — Isaiah 43:1 (NLT)

Their conversation explores the beautiful reality that our identity is not found in our past, our failures, our accomplishments, or the labels the world has placed upon us. Our identity is found in the One who created us, redeemed us, knows us personally, and calls us His own.

David also highlights Isaiah 43:4, where the Lord declares, "You are precious to me. You are honored, and I love you." These words invite us to rest in the assurance that we are deeply known, immeasurably valued, and eternally loved by God.

As you continue this journey of reflection and renewal, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any lie that has shaped your understanding of yourself and replace it with the unchanging truth of God's Word. What began as a chance meeting between two broken men became a lifelong friendship forged through prayer, accountability, repentance, and the relentless grace of God.

Together, they walk through the first major movements found in The Yielded Mind:

Revelation — What God reveals about our identity, sonship, and need for Him.

Conflict — The internal battle between self-will and surrender.

Discipline — The daily practices that cultivate intimacy with Christ and renew the mind.

Surrender — Learning to trust God's process even when circumstances seem impossible.

Transformation — Witnessing God's faithfulness through restored lives, restored marriages, and renewed purpose.

Robbie openly shares his journey through addiction, recovery, relapse, restoration, and eventual calling into ministry. Eric reflects on his own struggles with pride, self-sufficiency, and the lessons God taught him through surrender.

This episode is not simply a conversation about recovery.
