On a more casual episode of the show, Brad Meyer joins for a discussion of his policies, plans, and perspectives on many of today’s various social issues.

He presents an approach that while differing, in some respects, from the prevailing party method, has been  well received across democratic circles in the ninth district.

Be sure to follow the show so you don’t miss an episode. Early voting in Indiana is open now; this is the time to make informed decisions!

Will Hunt has recently launched the civic activism campaign known as ‘Jeffersonville First’, and he joins the show to tell us about it. He details concerns with the focus on commercial development in Jeffersonville, which he believes doesn’t best serve citizens when it becomes a priority above residential development, safety, and growth. While he’s not on the ballot (for now), he’s taking big steps to serve the community of Jeffersonville with a new vision for its future.

Tim Derringer, Democratic candidate for Clark County Sheriff, joins The BallotCast for a conversation about his career in law enforcement, his time as Chief of the Jeffersonville Police Department, and his campaign for sheriff.

We discuss restoring public trust in the Sheriff’s Office, accountability and transparency, jail operations, rehabilitation, community policing, department finances, and Derringer’s approach to leadership.

Derringer also explains why he chose to run as a Democrat, how he views partisanship in the sheriff’s office, and what he sees as the differences between himself and Republican candidate Kenny Kavanaugh.

Nick Marshall, Democratic candidate for Indiana State Senate District 45, joins Gavin Burrer to discuss his background, his decision to run for office, and the priorities he would bring to the Indiana General Assembly.

The conversation covers the challenges facing Southern Indiana, Marshall’s view of state government, and why he believes voters should choose him to represent the district.

In this episode of The BallotCast, Gavin Burrer talks with longtime Southern Indiana public servant Ron Grooms about his journey from neighborhood pharmacy owner to Jeffersonville city councilman and Indiana state senator. Grooms shares lessons from his political career, compares local and state government, and discusses leadership, public trust, and Clark County’s future.

In Part Two of our conversation with Max Engling, Republican candidate for Indiana Secretary of State, we turn from his personal story to his political career and campaign for the office. Max discusses his path into politics, his case for the nomination, election security and public trust, the role of the Secretary of State, and how he believes the office can better serve Indiana voters and businesses.

Before discussing elections and public office, we wanted to get to know the person behind the campaign.

In Part One of our conversation with Max Engling, Republican candidate for Indiana Secretary of State, we explore the experiences and convictions that have shaped his life. From growing up in a homeschooling family and now homeschooling his own children, to the importance of intentional parenting and living out Christian convictions in public life, this episode offers a personal look at the values that define Max beyond politics.

Part Two shifts to the office itself, covering election administration, the responsibilities of the Secretary of State, and Max’s vision for the role.
