Sermons from Park Church in Plumsteadville, PA.

Park Presbyterian Church started as a church plant in 2023 with the vision to see people come to know and love Jesus throughout Bucks County. You will find a gathering of people who love the Lord Jesus Christ and are committed to having a healthy church for the sake of God’s kingdom. A church plant provides wonderful opportunities to utilize your gifts to advance His kingdom.

We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are sufficient for our spiritual needs, clear to understand, and the final authority for how we ought to live in this life (2 Tim 3:16-17). Therefore we are convinced that the Scriptures must be studied. Above all, though, we believe that the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, points us to our gracious and merciful Savior Jesus Christ (Luke 24:27). It is for this reason that we love studying the Bible.

parkpres.com

The story then shifts dramatically to a young slave girl oppressed by harsh masters, whose conversion is portrayed as a miraculous release from bondage that causes a great commotion among the city's inhabitants. Finally, the sermon recounts the dramatic rescue of Paul and Silas when they are unjustly imprisoned; an earthquake shatters their chains and bonds, leading to the jailer's realization that his captors were already free in Christ before he asks for instruction on how to be saved. Through these varied accounts, the speaker concludes that the gospel is powerful enough to save everyone who believes, uniting diverse individuals into one family of God.

In this sermon on Acts chapter seven, the speaker emphasizes that suffering is often a divine mechanism used by God to redirect our gaze upward toward Christ and advance His kingdom rather than allowing it to crush faith. Drawing from Stephen's final moments as he was stoned for his testimony against false prophets, the message highlights three key lessons: first, we must fixate on Jesus in heaven even amidst persecution; second, this spiritual vision is validated by Scripture through titles like "Son of Man," which signifies an eternal dominion that cannot be destroyed; and third, God's grace extends to those who suffer by praying for their enemies rather than seeking revenge. The congregation is called to emulate Stephen's unwavering faith in the face of adversity, trusting that Christ will guide them even when earthly circumstances seem hopeless or hostile toward them.

The text emphasizes that despite their rage and rejection of him as an outsider from Israel, Stephen lived with Christ-like grace, power, and faithfulness until his final moments. He concluded his testimony not only asking for forgiveness but also offering the congregation a profound example to emulate: just as he forgave enemies who sought to stone him, believers can experience that same divine mercy through Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, thereby gaining the courage to forgive even their greatest adversaries while standing in solidarity with God's advocate.
