This is part two of our uniform and focuses on the colors or standard under which we march.  Our joy are these colors.  Just like a US flag patch on the modern uniform of an American soldier, our color of joy identifies who we fight for when we constantly lift up God because of His goodness and faithfulness.  When we display these same Fruits of the Spirit to others, we become flag-bearers of that joy in the world around us.

In the military today, soldier's have more than just weapons, tools, and armor that protects them.  They all wear a uniform that is designed to work best in a combat environment, but it also identifies who they are.  This episode talks about the pattern or camouflage of that uniform as Peace.  Peace is a spiritual attribute that allows us to maintain our position in a world filled with chaos.

With all the tools that God has equipped, we look to how each of us must be involved in the battles around us.  Every soldier is called to participate, and when looking at my experience in military, they can be summarized down to three actions: Shoot, move, and communicate.  These three simple actions translate to our ability to resist the enemy, our constant movement closer to God, and our open communication with Him to stay connected.

Beyond the Armor of God, we know that we have more weapons available to us in our spiritual battles.  We have a whole arsenal of tools that make us more effective at engaging the enemy.  Scripture and prayer are two of these.  One provides us with training, testing, and wisdom while the other helps us to communicate and stay connected with God.  They are critical to make us better soldiers in God's army.

As we continue looking at the armor that God issues us to fight with, we look deeper into the shield of faith, the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.  One requires daily usage to develop muscle memory, another is equipped to protect our minds and change our vision, and the last one is the surgical and well practiced delivery of God's Word and power.
