She reveals how her journey through two pregnancies reshaped her understanding of leave policies, mental presence, and authentic support — and how you can apply these lessons to navigate your own family planning with confidence. Discover the one crucial thing most employees forget to ask HR during maternity leave—something that can save you stress and money. We break down the ins and outs of California's maternity protections, including the surprising 17 weeks of pregnancy disability leave, the 12 weeks of bonding time, and how to maximize your insurance benefits without surprises at the end. Whether you're planning your first child or your second, this episode arms you with actionable steps to craft a leave plan that aligns with your values and supports your mental and physical health. You'll also learn: how to shift from your hectic workday to full-on mom mode seamlessly, the importance of living in the moment with your children, and why self-compassion is your secret weapon in motherhood. Our guest shares real stories of her struggles and wins — from returning too soon after her first child to finding a place of work that truly matches her values for her second. She highlights the power of proactive conversations with HR, effective strategies to advocate for your rights, and ways to embrace a flexible, supportive work environment. Why does this matter? Because too many women neglect to leverage their legal protections or underestimate how much time they can truly take—time that can be life-changing. With a clearer understanding of your rights and options, you can reduce guilt, reclaim peace of mind, and fully embrace the first moments with your baby. Whether you're a new parent, expecting, or supporting someone on their motherhood journey, this episode offers essential insights to help you plan confidently, advocate fiercely, and cherish every fleeting moment. Prepare to see your maternity leave as a platform for growth, connection, and freedom—because motherhood and career do not have to be at odds. Perfect for working parents, HR professionals, or anyone navigating the complex path of family planning.
