In John 1:29, John the Baptist refers to Jesus as "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world" (1:29). The next day, John the Baptist refers to Jesus as the lamb of God for the second time, upon which two of his disciples leave him to follow Jesus. What does it mean to "follow" Jesus? The eternal, pre-existent Logos came into the world. John the Baptist testified about Him - the Light - but the world as a whole and the Jews in particular rejected Him. But those who believed in the Logos, the Light, were given the right to become God's children, having been born of God.
