Some men in recovery will tell you they had a terrible week. Walk it back and you find out they were fine. Their wife had the terrible week, and they took the reading and became the reading. This episode is about the difference between a thermometer, which can only report what the room is doing, and a thermostat, which sets it. You don't get to set your wife's temperature. But you do get to decide which man walks into that kitchen, and Paul tells us in Colossians exactly what to put on before we do.

In this episode we walk through Numbers 13 and the story of the twelve spies to see how a negative word we speak over ourselves can write our whole future. We talk about why shame keeps a man stuck in the same cycle, why the deepest wound is the lie that we're too small and too far gone, and why you can't shame your way to freedom. When shame gets its power.

There's a strange truth about your body that science only recently confirmed and Scripture named three thousand years ago: you cannot hold shame with your head lifted high. In this episode, Keith shares the simple recovery tool that changed everything for him, "keep your eyes above sea level," and the remarkable study of blind athletes that reveals just how deeply shame and the bowed head are wired together. Romans 8:38-39 says nothing can separate you from the love of God. Nothing. But if you're in recovery, shame has probably convinced you that your addiction did exactly that.
