Lexy shares how she built her own “personal board of directors” over the last decade, the difference between mentors, sponsors, teachers, and coaches, and why peer-to-peer mentorship might be the most underrated resource we have. She also tells the story of her “palliative pilgrimage” through Ohio and Kentucky—cold emailing leaders in the field, showing up as a stranger, and leaving with lifelong colleagues and friends.</p><p>From there, we wade into the honest, messy middle: what it means to be “mid-career,” why the label can feel so unsettling, and how to let go of contingency happiness (“I’ll be happy when…”) in favor of purpose and joy that aren’t tied to promotions, titles, or lines or your CV.
