From insecurity and comparison to people-pleasing and striving, they unpack how a misplaced identity subtly influences our choices, relationships, and even our calling.

How do you rise again when your identity shatters and God calls you into something you never saw coming?

This week on the Embracing Grace podcast, I sat down with Nick Morrison, whose life could fill ten biographies and still leave stories untold.

His story is wild, raw, and breathtakingly redemptive:

• 🐂 From the rodeo arena to the pulpit to comedy clubs
• 🎤 From concussions, paralysis, and suicide attempts to motivational speaking
• 🎶 From mutism to music-led healing
• 💥 From identity collapse to discovering who he truly is in Christ
• 🤍 From performance-driven life to loving people back to hope one conversation at a time
  
  

After a medical trauma left him temporarily mute and partially paralyzed, God used music to restore his speech. Today he performs comedy, worships with audiences, all while still doing daily brain exercises just to keep speaking.

Nick doesn’t preach at people - he loves them into encounter with the Father. Whether it's a comedy club, a LinkedIn message, a classroom of unruly teens, or a hurting waiter (who ends up getting baptised…) his life is proof that God wastes nothing.

I'd highly encourage you to get Nick's book which is being launched as an early release this Thursday October 16th  (12-1pm CT). It's called Knocked Out, But Not Down — part memoir, part miracle story, part humour. It’s all in there.

I bet if you’re breathing - there have been times that something you have been standing in faith for - didn’t work out. Maybe you lost a job, you lost someone you loved, a promise was broken or you got seriously ill. Maybe the people you love disappointed you - leaving you feeling alone and unloved.

Proverbs 13:12 says: Hope deferred makes the heart sick,  but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

This was a challenging podcast -  not only because of the tech-challenges we were facing, but because the message is one that will pierce straight into you. And it was meant to do that - it was meant to not go straight through - but ignite a fire inside you. One of hope and a reminder that hope comes in the morning.

We end on a very important note of forgiving those who have hurt you. You will want to listen to this one to the end.

The bible refers to our bodies as the ‘temple of the Holy Spirit’. That’s actually quite a big deal if you think about it. Our bodies, in essence, are where the Holy Spirit lives. 

Well, are you taking care of the home that the Holy Spirit lives in? I know I haven’t been. Even though I’ve had some pretty serious health issues over the years, you’d think I was paying more attention to my health. But to be honest, it has never been much of a priority to me, until recently when I had a blow to my health which I know was because I neglected to take care of myself. Jesus came to give us life and life abundantly - we should be living in that. 

I met the lovely Sara Paxton a few months ago and had to get her on the podcast. Not only is she a functional medicine health coach, she’s also a daughter of the King - so I knew that she had some important information that I wanted you all to hear.

BUT I knew I needed to do this because it’s an incredibly important and relevant topic for us to talk about. To educate and to empower ourselves and our children.
