Alia Brown (she/her) Bio: 

Alia is a social worker earning her MSW at Bridgewater. She holds a BA in criminology and focuses on supporting BIPOC populations through community development, policy advocacy, and post incarceration support. As a clinician, Alia works with multicultural, multilingual individuals, especially those most affected by systemic and institutional oppression. Eager to better understand and address the school-to-prison pipeline, Alia aims to build relationships across communities and improve access to mental health care.

Dr. Korey Tillman (he/him) Bio:

Korey Tillman’s research sits at the nexus of race, policing, and empire. His work examines how the imbricated histories of racial slavery and colonialism shape contemporary policing and pushes Blackness outside the category of Human. As an abolitionist, the goal of his work is to build upon the legacies of the Black feminist and radical traditions to move towards a world where African diasporic communities receive care, not criminalization. 

Adam J. Malinowski (he/him) Bio: 

Adam J. Malinowski is the owner of the Law Office of Adam J. Malinowski in Melrose, Mass, a practice primarily devoted to criminal defense and family law litigation, with an emphasis on cases in which both areas of law are interwoven. Attorney Malinowski has been in practice for 35 years and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Northeastern University and a Juris Doctorate from New England Law - Boston. Attorney Malinowski has been a lecturer for the Social Law Library and Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education on topics related to domestic violence, abuse prevention orders and navigating the intersection of family law and criminal defense. He also serves a volunteer family law conciliator for the Middlesex County Bar Association and mentors new criminal defense lawyers for Middlesex Defense Attorneys, Inc., in which he is a member.

Dorain Simmonds-Brown's (she/her) Bio:
Dorain is an ICU trained travel nurse. She has obtained her associates in nursing and has been a nurse for 3 years working at local hospitals around MA and New Hampshire. Dorain is currently pursuing her BSN. In her spare time, she manage and operate her own nail business as the founder of Drip by Dorain. Where her creativity flourishes as a nail tech, providing manicure services to her clients. Follow her at @Dripbydorain.

Na'Blahge Adaramola's (she/her) Bio:
Na'Blahge is a dedicated LPN with four years of frontline healthcare experience, including Long Term Care and Skilled Rehabilitation facilities in the north shore. As she pursues her Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), she is committed to expanding her clinical knowledge and skills. Passionate about patient advocacy, Na'Blahge uses her voice to empower patients, ensuring they receive compassionate, equitable, and informed care.

Abang's (she/her) Bio: 
Abang began her health career as a CNA. Caring for others has always came natural to her. As she progresses in her career, she is learning the true values of patience, compassion, and teamwork. Nursing is more than just a job, it’s something she genuinely care about and gives her best self to her patients. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending quality time with family and friends.

Arielle McCabe's (she/her) Bio:
The mental well being of her sister and herself is what drew Arielle to nursing. She has varied experiences as a transporter, a nurse technician, and worked with gastrointestinal patients while she obtained her BSN. She transitioned to a Medical Intensive Care unit and fell in love with caring for people in their most critical moments. It solidified her want to go into Palliative care and she is currently pursuing her Masters in Nursing Family Nursing Practice.

Her Bio:

Vanda Spinola is more than a content creator—she’s a storyteller, a mother, and a force of creativity. Born in Cape Verde and raised in Massachusetts, Vanda uses her platform to blend raw, relatable moments of motherhood with creative DIY projects, self-love, and spiritual growth.

As the founder of Vandalized by Vanda, she showcases her artistic talents through handmade creations, customized kits, and nostalgic content that speaks directly to ’90s kids and modern moms alike. She’s also in the early stages of building Speak Up Foundation—a future nonprofit aimed at supporting women, especially mothers, as they navigate the legal system and begin healing from trauma.

Joshua McLellan is a Principal Software Engineer with experience across distributed storage, health tech, cybersecurity, and mathematical modeling. His work focuses on turning ambiguous product and operational problems into practical architecture, tools, standards, and systems. He currently works at Nasuni, where he helps shape technical direction. He holds dual degrees from UMass Amherst in Natural and Environmental Resource Economics and Applied Mathematics, with a minor in Philosophy. Outside of work, he enjoys bike riding, cooking, and building playful community software, including a live voting platform for an annual eggnog competition.

Her Bio: 

Brianna Smith is the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement, where she creates meaningful opportunities for alumni to stay connected through networking, volunteer engagement, and lifelong community building initiatives. She is passionate about fostering authentic relationships and creating programs that strengthen connections across generations. She enjoys hearing alumni stories and seeing them reconnect with one another as well as with the school. Being part of the BB&N Community has always been a highlight for her. She stays involved in the community by mentoring seniors and coaching three seasons. She is dedicated to creating opportunities for all students to connect with alumni while also being a trusted resource for guidance, support, and encouragement.

dana e. fitchett is a writer, dancer and dance educator, visual artist, and student of life. Her practices are grounded in listening deeply and cultivating languages and narratives that honestly honor and reflect complexity. Her Bio:

Ping-Ann Addo (she/her) is an ethnographer who is an Associate Professor of Anthropology at the University of Massachusetts Boston and a core faculty member in the Critical Ethnic and Community Studies Master’s program and the Native American and Indigenous Studies minor. Her book, Creating a Nation with Cloth: Tradition, Textiles, and Tongan Women(Berghahn Books, 2013), analyzes women’s agency, nation-building, and cross-generational immigrant identity in contemporary New Zealand through the shifting value of traditional wealth. She conducts ethnographic fieldwork in Boston at the intersection of Caribbean immigrant identity, place-keeping, and resistance to gentrification; has conducted fieldwork in Boston and Trinidad; and has story consultant on the documentary film (More Than Mas’, 2022) about Caribbean Carnival costume, competition, and the multiple meanings of victory in Boston. Ping-Ann serves on the academic team for the United Maroon Indigenous Peoples and as an ethnographer of their emergent social movement, focusing on women and youth-led processes of earth-care, food sovereignty, and healing. Her related forthcoming edited volume is entitled The Spirit of Marronage: Expressions of Afrikan Indigenous Self-Determination (Vernon Press). She is of Akan-Ghanaian and Chinese-Malaysian heritage, and Trinidadian up-bringing. She is a mother, partner, daughter, auntie, friend, and collaborator.

Her Bio:

Niyonu D. Spann is a transformational educator, organizational strategist, artist, and spiritual leader whose work bridges liberation, healing, and whole-system change. She is the founder and president of 4 Circles Beyond, Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to community empowerment through education, culture, and radical inclusion. In that capacity, she leads the development of the Academy for Peace & Liberation Education (AP&LE)—a visionary, tuition-free high school based in Chester, Pennsylvania—and the Teacher’s Liberation Residency, which supports educators in practicing joyfully and justly.

Niyonu holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Oberlin Conservatory, a Master’s in Human Resource Management/Organization Development from American University/National Training Laboratories, and is pursuing a Ph.D. in Transformational Studies from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She has served as a teacher and administrator at both residential and day schools, including Oakwood Friends School and Friends Select, and as Dean at Pendle Hill, a Quaker study and retreat center.

An experienced consultant and facilitator, Niyonu has worked with nonprofit boards, school districts, foundations, and international organizations on racial equity, leadership, strategic planning, and organizational transformation. Notable partners include the American Friends Service Committee, Amnesty International, Planned Parenthood (PA & NJ), University of North Carolina Greensboro, and Delaware Health and Social Services. She co-founded CEIO (Co-Creating Effective & Inclusive Organizations) in New Haven, CT—a multi-year initiative to support inclusive leadership and systems change.

As founder of Beyond Diversity 101™ (BD101)—a five-day intensive workshop now in its 24th year—Niyonu has guided hundreds of individuals through deeply transformational experiences in race, power, and liberation. Her signature approach centers spirit-rooted healing, rigorous truth-telling, and community-based accountability.

Also an accomplished artist and cultural worker, Niyonu founded Tribe 1, a multiracial performance ensemble dedicated to music for peace and justice. She continues to perform as a solo artist, with two albums including Spirit Fuel (2021), and leads Nuyoni Productions, a multimedia company focused on ancestral honoring, joyous living, and sound healing.

Niyonu is a frequent keynote speaker and plenary presenter, with appearances at Naropa University, New England and Philadelphia Yearly Meetings, FLGBTQC Midwinter Gathering, and the Republican National Convention protests. Her writings and speeches—such as “Being Home is Heartwork” and “Letting Go of Illusion, Engaging Truth: Healing!”—are known for their spiritual rigor, emotional depth, and uncompromising call to justice.

Niyonu has received numerous awards for her work, including the Candace Woman of Achievement Award (100 Black Women) and the Dorothy James Community Service Award (Media Fellowship House). In 2019, she was nominated for the Paul and Joyce Aicher Leadership in Democracy Award.

Through every role she holds—as educator, executive, consultant, artist, or activist—Niyonu embodies the belief that transformation begins within and that liberation, creativity, and community restoration are not only possible—they are necessary.

Axel Lopez is a Boston-born dancer, filmmaker, entrepreneur, and creative currently based in Los Angeles, California. A graduate of Bentley University, Axel has built a career at the intersection of creativity and business, combining his passions for movement, storytelling, entrepreneurship, and visual media.

He currently serves as the Head of Film and Production at Movement Lifestyle, one of the world’s leading dance studios, where he oversees content creation, visual storytelling, and production initiatives. Alongside his work in film and media, Axel owns and operates a sneaker reselling business, turning his passion for fashion, footwear, and entrepreneurship into a thriving venture.

Throughout his career, Axel has had the opportunity to direct, produce, film, and edit projects for globally recognized brands including Red Bull, Peloton, and Gymshark, among others. As a dancer, he has trained under some of the industry’s most respected professionals and continues to teach and share his passion for movement throughout Los Angeles.

Driven by a belief that passion and purpose can coexist, Axel has dedicated much of his career to creating opportunities through the things he genuinely loves. Whether behind the camera, in the studio, or building a business, he is committed to growth, creativity, and inspiring others to pursue their own unique path.

Alongside his work in film and media, Axel owns and operates a sneaker reselling business, turning his passion for fashion, footwear, and entrepreneurship into a thriving venture.

Throughout his career, Axel has had the opportunity to direct, produce, film, and edit projects for globally recognized brands including Red Bull, Peloton, and Gymshark, among others. As a dancer, he has trained under some of the industry’s most respected professionals and continues to teach and share his passion for movement throughout Los Angeles.

Driven by a belief that passion and purpose can coexist, Axel has dedicated much of his career to creating opportunities through the things he genuinely loves. Whether behind the camera, in the studio, or building a business, he is committed to growth, creativity, and inspiring others to pursue their own unique path.

Her Bio: 

I was born in North Carolina to a military family. I was raised in Medford, MA by my dad, my mom (who is actually my aunt but I call my mom because she raised me like I was her own child), and my god mother with my adopted sister. 

I grew up with a love for music, soccer, being outdoors and a love for animals. Growing up, I unfortunately watched my adopted sister struggle with mental health.  I grew up taking care of her even though I was five years younger. One year after coming home from camp, my sister voluntarily left the family. This was a pivotal point in my life as it shot my self esteem, increased my anxiety, and sent me into years of depression. 

Experiencing my sister is a huge part of why I decided to become a nurse, so I didn’t feel helpless when it came to medical emergencies, and I could make other people feel understood and heard. I graduated from Matignon High School with honors and completing my freshmen year  at Anna Maria College. My first day of my freshmen year, I found out my mom had endometrial cancer (she’s  cancer free now). I also experienced my first toxic relationship which led me into a really bad depression. I voluntarily admitted myself for a psychiatric hold and this is when I found out that I was diagnosed with Bipolar 2. 

An old friend thought I might like Florida so my sophomore year I moved  to attend the University of Tampa where I discovered a 4 year college wasn’t for me. I transferred to do an Associate program and focused on my mental health. I got a job at a level 1 trauma center during Covid as a transporter. I worked my way up to a nurse technician while in school. When I graduated nursing school, I took the first med surg job I was offered helping gastrointestinal patients including those with cancer. While working, I obtained my BSN through an online program. After, I transitioned to a Medical Intensive Care unit where I fell in love with caring for people in their most critical moments and even some of their end of life. It solidified my want to go into Palliative care. I am working on my Masters Degree in Nursing for Family Nursing Practice.

D.Ruff is a 2 time Boston Music Award Spoken Word Artist Of The Year nominee. D is a Roxbury-bred artist, performer, educator, artivist, and host. He co-hosted ”if you can Feel It, you can Speak It” Open Mic movement for 16 years. Most of his poems stem from personal experiences and observations, ranging from love and heartbreak to inequality and culture. 

Kyle Umemba, cofounder of Let It Fly Classic and passionate community advocate. After 8 years at PwC, he transitioned to full-time entrepreneurship, focusing on creating opportunities for underserved communities through youth programs, scholarships, and mentorship. 

Mitch Gayns is a 35 year old content creating contrarian from just north of Boston. Often described as "the guy you'd least want to argue with" he's doing his best these days to put his powers of persuasion (and occasional annoyance) to good use as a psuedo-parent to two teens, youth basketball referee and social media commentator from time to time. 

Aljemall Peeples serves as the co-founder and director of Mike & Al's Basketball League and successfully continues the legacy established 25 years ago. Their organization transcends the typical scope of a basketball program; it functions as a violence prevention initiative designed to provide a constructive and positive outlet for youth between the ages of 10 and 21. He dedicates himself to ensuring the safety and protection of the young people in Grove Hall advocating for a cultural ethos that extends beyond athletics.

Thaddeus Miles is a community-centered leader with more than 30 years of experience advancing equity, wellness, and opportunity in the affordable housing sector. His work has always been rooted in this core belief: people thrive when they feel valued, connected and supported to live full and healthy lives. Additionally, he photographs Black life in moments of thriving and writes stories and heart whispers that honor the courage to keep going.

Cyndi Weekes Bradley has over 20 years of data-driven experience in equity including racial equity and co-creating spaces for educators that matter most to them. She has served in many education roles from teacher to administrator; and is even the Founder of her boutique equity firm - The Equity Process. She is also the co-founder and creative mind of Cynergi Healing Center.

Alia is a social worker earning her MSW at Bridgewater. She holds a BA in criminology and focuses on supporting BIPOC populations through community development, policy advocacy, and post incarceration support. As a clinician, Alia works with multicultural, multilingual individuals, especially those most affected by systemic and institutional oppression. 

Porsha Olayiwola is a native of Chicago who writes, lives and loves in Boston. Olayiwola is a writer, performer, educator and curator who uses afro-futurism and surrealism to examine historical and current issues in the Black, woman, and queer diasporas. She is an individual World Poetry Slam Champion, the founder of the Roxbury Poetry Festival, and author of i shimmer sometimes, too.

Abdi is a curriculum designer, classroom teacher and a former district administrator in the Boston Public Schools with almost three decades of experience. Trained in educational ethnography under the mentorship of Dr. Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot at the HGSE.

She is an individual World Poetry Slam Champion, the founder of the Roxbury Poetry Festival, and author of i shimmer sometimes, too.

Abdi is a curriculum designer, classroom teacher and a former district administrator in the Boston Public Schools with almost three decades of experience. Trained in educational ethnography under the mentorship of Dr. Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot at the HGSE. 

D.Ruff is a 2 time Boston Music Award Spoken Word Artist Of The Year nominee. D is a Roxbury-bred artist, performer, educator, artivist, and host. He co-hosted ”if you can Feel It, you can Speak It” Open Mic movement for 16 years. Most of his poems stem from personal experiences and observations, ranging from love and heartbreak to inequality and culture.

Aaleyah is a dynamic therapist, creative, and healer specializing in Dance/Movement Therapy. With a strong academic and clinical foundation, she brings a culturally responsive, trauma-informed lens to her work with children, adolescents, and families. Beyond her clinical work, Aaleyah embodies holistic wellness in her everyday life. She is a certified yoga practitioner and offers cupping and acupressure therapy rooted in Meridian principles. She finds joy and grounding in hiking, swimming, dancing, and traveling activities that both nourish her and reflect the values she brings into her practice. A lifelong learner, she is deeply interested in the intersection of psychedelics and rehabilitation sciences, particularly as it relates to developmental and intellectual disabilities, depression, and anxiety. Their Bios:

Devenia Cordette (she/her) is an ever-proud black womyn from the south side of Chicago. She is deeply passionate about the black experience of where they’ve been, as a collective, and where they will go. Since she was younger, she’s been an avid writer, reader, music lover & critic. She is currently a teacher within the private sector of education, who loves her students deeply, and takes their well-roundedness seriously. As she navigates through life, she continues to educate herself, those around her, and uplift her community every chance she gets. Her future plans include graduate degrees, and continuing to climb within education to reach the level of a tenured collegiate professional. As Devenia always says, “it’s a great day to have a great day, and an even better day to be black.” 

Periana resides in the DFW area, but was born and raised on the west side of Chicago. She is a wife, a mama to two beautiful girls (Kai and Kobe), a foodie, and so much more. Periana spent the bulk of her career in higher education, supporting and advocating for first generation, low income, and underrepresented student populations. Currently, she is working to improve maternal health outcomes, especially for Black and Brown mamas who are disproportionately affected by the maternal healthcare crisis, and she plans to become a full spectrum doula within the next year or so.

Their organization transcends the typical scope of a basketball program; it functions as a violence prevention initiative designed to provide a constructive and positive outlet for youth between the ages of 10 and 21. Their mission underscores the promotion of a culture defined by peace, empathy, and understanding, with a central objective of preventing violence through education, community engagement, and supportive resources. They empower individuals to contribute to the creation of a safer and more compassionate society. Aljemall dedicates himself to ensuring the safety and protection of the young people in Grove Hall advocating for a cultural ethos that extends beyond athletics.
