 When a beautiful blue sailboat sails into French Creek Harbour one sunny morning, Captain Dave and Larry the Lobster are quick to say hello. It hasn't rained in 31 days on Vancouver Island, and Peter can feel the difference everywhere — the lawn is crispy beige, the bird bath is bone dry, and Gracie is melting on the kitchen tiles. When Peter's mom shares a newspaper photo of a shrunken creek near Coombs, Peter decides it's time to do something. It begins as a quiet morning drifting through the sheltered waters of Baynes Sound, just off the east coast of Vancouver Island. But when Larry accidentally sends his clipboard to the bottom and leans over to look for it, he spots something extraordinary resting on the sandy floor below — a fully mature Dungeness crab the size of a dinner plate. They name him Gerald. Captain Dave cuts the engine, and together they slip over the side for one of the Mellow Submarine’s most quietly wonderful adventures. Larry and Gerald size each other up, raise a claw each in careful greeting, and arrive at a dignified understanding. Back on deck over warm mugs of tea, Captain Dave explains why Baynes Sound is one of the most biologically productive places on the BC coast — and what it really means to care for a place on behalf of the creatures that can’t think about it for themselves.

But when Captain Dave spots the French Creek Marina Car Show on shore, he remembers something the Mellow Submarine has that most submarines don’t: retractable wheels. With the press of a big yellow button, four sturdy wheels deploy from the submarine’s hull — and the most unexpected entrant in car show history rolls right up the beach and through the gates. Larry the Lobster leads tour groups through the control room, explaining ballast tanks and sonar to wide-eyed kids. Car enthusiasts marvel at the submarine’s electric motors and solar-powered batteries. And at the end of the day, the organisers announce a brand-new award — one they’ve never given before — for Most Unique Vehicle.

What's lurking 75 metres beneath the waters of Deep Bay? Captain Dave and Larry the Lobster are about to find out — entirely by accident!

It begins as a peaceful morning of tide pool exploring near Deep Bay, just off Vancouver Island's coast. But when the depth gauge starts climbing fast, it's already too late — the Mellow Submarine tips over the edge of the Deep Bay drop off and goes sliding all the way to the ocean floor. What they discover down there is extraordinary: fish that glow like living stars, a red shrimp hiding in plain sight using colour as camouflage, a grumpy-faced snailfish, decorator crabs dressed in shells and sea bits — and a magnificent Giant Pacific Octopus who presses a dinner-plate-sized eye against the window and puts on a dazzling colour-changing show just for them.

 This episode is a sparkling reminder that the most amazing adventures can be hiding right beneath the surface of the places we think we know best.

Linda also shares the serious challenges salmon face today — from dams and pollution to warming rivers — and explains why hatcheries play such an important role in helping these incredible fish survive. The story begins at Miracle Beach Provincial Park, where Captain Dave and his loyal first mate Larry the lobster discover that thousands of sand dollars have mysteriously disappeared from their favorite cove. Determined to solve this mystery, they encounter Harold the heron who suggests consulting with Tabitha, an ancient sea turtle with extensive knowledge of the coastal waters.

Tabitha reveals that a recent underwater earthquake has created a new current that's been pulling the sand dollars into a deep underwater valley. Using the submarine's Current Redirector, Captain Dave creates a gentle pathway allowing the sand dollars to travel safely between both locations. This "Sand Dollar Highway" becomes a celebrated conservation project at the park, drawing attention from visitors and rangers alike.

Peter and his fluffy white American Eskimo dog, Gracie embark on their first gardening project together. Their adventure begins with a trip to the Meadowood Store, where they meet Steffany Burger, the friendly owner who helps them select starter plants, soil, and fertilizer for their garden. During their visit, Peter discovers the store's famous Bigfoot statue and learns about local legends of the gentle forest creature who supposedly roams the area.

Peter and his Mom prepare a garden patch where they carefully plant tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, cucumbers, and bell peppers. Peter takes his gardening responsibilities seriously, checking on the plants daily with Gracie by his side. When he notices nibbled lettuce leaves, Peter becomes convinced that Bigfoot might be visiting their garden, so he leaves friendly notes offering to share their harvest. His belief in Bigfoot is reinforced when he discovers large footprints near the garden after rainy nights.

What begins as a simple lesson in navigation through Active Pass turns mysterious when an unusual fog rolls in, revealing a ghostly sailing ship from the 1920s. 

 Following this phantom vessel, they discover a hidden cove with an abandoned lighthouse containing the logbook of Harold Jenkins, a dedicated lighthouse keeper who disappeared in 1923 while trying to report dangerous, unmarked rocks in the passage. 

 The logbook contains vital navigation information that never reached authorities. The children help Captain Dave deliver this historical document to the Maritime Museum and Coast Guard, completing the lighthouse keeper's century-old mission.

In Coombs, we meet Peter, a spirited young boy with unruly brown curls, and his loyal companion, Gracie, an American Eskimo dog. As summer vacation begins, the inseparable duo embarks on a blackberry-picking adventure. Their excursion takes an unexpected turn when Gracie's keen senses lead them to discover a tiny, lost kitten hidden in the bushes.

 Moved by compassion, Peter brings the kitten home, naming it DC (Discovered Cat). With his parents' guidance, Peter creates flyers to find the kitten's owner, learning valuable lessons about responsibility and empathy. The next day, while distributing flyers around town, they encounter Barb, a girl Peter's age who recognizes her lost kitten, Mittens.
