Mara Smith is a mother of three and a former attorney and corporate strategist. She practiced law at a large law firm in Chicago before transitioning to the corporate strategy team at a Fortune 500 Company. She was put on emergency bedrest while pregnant with her twins and when they were born prematurely, she made the difficult decision to leave the corporate world.

Mara never stopped thinking about what was next and always envisioned running her own company. In February of 2020 she set out on her journey to create a new tequila brand.

Mara started drinking tequila when she was looking for a “better-for-you” adult beverage. She discovered though that all of the tequilas she was drinking contained undisclosed additives, so she searched for a brand that was additive-free with a look, taste and messaging that appealed to her and thoughtful female consumers like her. That perfect tequila did not exist, so she decided to create one. The goal was not just to craft impeccable tequilas, but it was also to bring more female perspectives to the spirits industry by having women involved in every aspect of the company. In this episode I sit down with Jason to discuss his journey to becoming a Vedic Meditation teacher. I had never heard of this modality and am so grateful to learn about it through Jason’s lens.

When we are not feeling our best, too stressed out, too reactive, too anxious, depressed, scattered, overly emotional and more, we rely on trusted professionals to help us if needed, medically as we should! In addition, there are a variety of ways to combat these things through practices like Jason teaches, or through the work I do with clients on their energetic body through Reiki, yoga, chakra balancing and more.

It’s important to know yourself, and understand when, where and how you’re feeling off, then seek the help required via traditional medicine if needed and also non-traditional methods if desired. The key is noticing, getting curious and being brave in getting the help you want and need.

For all my friends who are fans of the Grateful Dead, this episode is for you! I have the pleasure of sitting down with Robert Kortiz, one of the esteemed drummers of DSO. Robert has been playing with them for 25 years and well before that found his way behind kits in other bands in and around St. Louis, our hometown.

I’ve known Robert since he was 8 and what I love about him is the way he’s combined all of his passions into the life he’s living now. In yoga we call that living your dharma and even though Robert doesn’t practice yoga in a traditional sense, he’s living his yoga every day by doing what he was always called to do.

I love his heart, his talent, his deep love for his family, respect for all kinds of musicians and music and a profound gratitude for the Grateful Dead and DSO’s fan base. Growing up as a St. Louis Blue’s hockey fan, he was always destined to play hockey and become a hockey dad. What’s more: Robert gives so much back to one of the most magical places on earth that is woven into the fabric of both of our lives and the lives of our families: Camp Sabra.

It’s an understatement to say how much I adore and respect Robert for the man he is now, even if in my mind he’s still 8 years old. I am so grateful his family is like my family. Dive into this enjoyable trip down memory lane and more as Robert and I swap stories and our connections!

Lisa Hagenbuch has been a professional Astrologer since 1998. She meets with individuals and families virtually, out of her home office in Palatine, IL, as well as several metaphysical stores in the Chicagoland area.

Lisa is an individual Family Constellations facilitator. She has extensive training in Conscious Parenting methodologies and has achieved certification in 6 courses taught by Dr. Shefali Tsabary, Oprah’s ‘go-to’ parenting expert. About Kirsten:

She’s been a producer of video, photography and print for over 40 years for various ad agencies in Chicago, Hamburg and Berlin. Owned her own video production company - Coffee Cup Productions, where most of her music video work is posted on YouTube, including some conversations with Lauri!

Now semi-retired, Kirsten works part time as a Marketing, Social Media and Initiatives Manager for a local catering company while also managing her band: FunkTonic.

Kirsten played HS, College and Professional Volleyball and still plays to this day. She’s coached HS, College Mens and Club Volleyball and Club Football, loves sports and promotes a healthy competitive spirit. She’s an avid Chicago Blackhawks and Bears fan, speaks fluent German and plans on moving to Berlin one day where her 2 greatest productions - her children reside.
