S3:E17 Christmas in July And Calculating for Less Stress

Wed, 22 Jul 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Well, we are back with another new episode of The Boys Podcast, and this week it's a little bit of a change. It's just Stuart and I. Dwayne, for some reason, thought that it was the perfect time to go take a vacation. So while he's probably burning on a beach, Stuart and I are here, along with the rest of our team, getting ready for Christmas in July. So today we're talking about what we bought and how we don't remember or have a clue what we bought when we were there in January and so now somehow we're making magic out of what's come in halfway through the year. And I'm also telling you about a few tools that I've built that are on our website to help you this holiday season get a little bit more stress-less so you can enjoy more time with those that you love.

S3:E16 Outside the House Part 2

Wed, 15 Jul 2026 00:00:00 -0400

!e are back again with another new episode of our podcast. And this week... Well, actually, if you'll remember last week , Stuart had a lot of feelings about some stuff. Well, let me tell you, this week Dwayne could not pick enough hills to die on. He had lots of strong, we'll just say it that way, opinions. Maybe next week will be my week. Who knows? We'll see. But we are talking about the outside of your house again. This is part two of the things that you can do looking on the outside to improve your home. And I don't think there's much more else to say. I want you to hear Dwayne and his silliness. Let's get to it

S3:E15 Working on the Outside

Wed, 08 Jul 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Hey, everybody. We are back this week with another new podcast, and this week we are turning our attention to the outside of the house. We talk so much about the inside, Dwayne thought, "Let's talk about the outside," which is a good topic to cover because there's so many things that we can do. In this episode, we talk about the sun and how it is such a pain when it comes to paint colors. We talk about outdoor lighting. We talk about trying to figure out the right kind of windows for the house. We talk about... Well, you know what? Just listen to the podcast. We'll, we'll get into it, and hopefully this will be part one of helping you figure out how we can freshen up the outside of the house

Tacky is Back? and Wedding Report!

Wed, 01 Jul 2026 00:00:00 -0400

We are back with another episode of our podcast, and this week we have a quick update. Well, not so quick, 'cause Dwayne's involved in this. But he tells us about his daughter's wedding, and Stuart and I were honored to be there and be part of the joy. We've known Dwayne since before his daughter was born, so this was a major moment for all of us, and it was a great time. And then we follow that up with an article that Stuart found about things that were once considered tacky and they're now back, and spoiler alert, we think they're idiots.

S3:E13 Driving Home Telling Stories

Wed, 24 Jun 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Well, we are back this week with our return trip from market for spring 2027, and, you know, we really do record this podcast in the car, and I don't edit them until after we've been back home for a few days. And today, as I was listening to it, I thought, "Lord, we don't ever need to do this again," because all three of us are so tired. You can hear it in our voices. But we did do it. We did do it for you all, and in this episode, we are talking about the things that we found, things that we're excited about 2027, some things that we thought that we might see or hoped to see, and we did see, some of our struggles, of course. A funny story about a restaurant not working out for Dwayne, and even funnier, it was a week of confessionals. You've, you've gotta stick around to hear some of the things that our sales reps told us. It was an odd week. It's never happened like this before. Well, let's get to it, and let's hear all the fun things that are coming for 2027

S3:E12 Going to Market! AGAIN

Wed, 17 Jun 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Welcome back everybody. This week, honey, the wheels just keep on rolling. We're back in our mobile studio, which is, well, a rental car, and we are whipping down I-75 on the way to Atlanta. And guys, it feels like we were just there, but now we're on the way down, looking to buy for spring 2027. Can you believe it? How crazy are we already talking about that? It's insane how this never stops. So in this podcast we talk about some things that we're looking for, some things that we thought we got right with spring, maybe some things we didn't get right, and of course, there are a few stories, including one where Dwayne lost his absolute mind in the Hyatt. I'll never forget it for as long as I live. Let's keep this car just moving. Let's get to it

S3:E11 More Than Just Things

Wed, 10 Jun 2026 00:00:00 -0400

I just got back from a family trip to a place where I have not really been since I was a kid. And let me tell you, rock candy, pecan rolls, more fudge than any reasonable adult should eat in one weekend, and I was not reasonable. But beyond eating all of the things that I shouldn't have, we also did a little bit of shopping, and I had a little moment that spoke back to when I was a kid, and it made me start thinking about what we do, how the pieces in your home just aren't pretty things on a shelf: a bowl, a pitcher, handful of seashells in a jar. They can take you right back to a place, a person, maybe the last Thanksgiving that everybody got along. All of that matters because a home full of things that mean something to you beats a perfectly styled one every time.

S3:E10 Faux Flowers And Weddings!

Wed, 03 Jun 2026 00:00:00 -0400

We have all had the horrific visions of the weddings from the '80s. I'm thinking of... Well, I won't say their names because I've seen some photos of some weddings in the past where they used artificial flowers. But listen, guys, that is no longer where we are today. There are some incredible faux flower options, and there are so many people turning to faux flowers for their weddings for a multitude of reasons, and that's exactly what we're talking about today. So if you are thinking about it or you know someone's thinking about it or they're struggling trying to figure out what to do, have them listen to this podcast because it should help them feel more confident with the decision that they need to make, regardless of which way they need to go. And since we're talking about weddings, I really hope when this is over, I can find a wedding cake. If y'all have some, drop it by the store. Let's get to it

S3:E9 Don't Forget The Laundry Room

Wed, 27 May 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Of all the places in the house that we so often overlook adding a little interest and a little charm, for some reason, it's always the laundry room. And for a room being so integral to how the house has to work, we do a disservice to ourself adding the special little details and the things that make it feel nice, 'cause listen, if it's gonna make me feel any better trying to fold some laundry or match some socks, I need every bit of help I can get. Am I alone in that? I hope not. Well, that's exactly what we're talking about. So, the perfect time to listen to this is when you're doing some laundry. Throw it on, and then you can curse along with us as you're pairing the socks. Let's get to it

S3:E8 Artificial Intelligence in Design

Wed, 20 May 2026 11:00:00 -0400

This week we are discussing AI, artificial intelligence. And unless you've been living under a rock, which sometimes I wish I could, you probably hear about it because it is everywhere. It's now integrated into everything. And understandably so, people have a lot of questions. There's a lot of things that we don't understand. Half the internet fears it. A lot of people think it's the destruction of the world. Other people think it's gonna be the best thing that ever happened, and somehow your crazy uncle thinks that it can read your minds through Facebook. I mean, there are a lot of, we'll just say interesting things that people have to say and what they believe about it right now.

So today, I try to walk Stuart and Duane through what I understand of it today. And we talk about it in design, we talk about how it can be used working on the home, We discuss why it's an amazing thing, why it's a terrifying thing, why it could be an amazing starting point for thoughts, brainstorming, all of those kinds of things. and why that can be a disaster. And y'all, I cannot wait for you all to see the picture that it made. Stuart did this. It's so funny. It's in the show notes. Make sure you look.

Along the way, we learn a lot, we laugh a lot, and I gotta tell you, I think probably one of us, and I'm just gonna say it's the bald one, I think he probably asked ChatGPT when he got home if when it sleeps it counts digital sheep. Now, full disclaimer out there, none of us are AI experts, and this technology is changing so fast, literally week by week new things are coming out. And so by the time that you listen to this podcast, it could be completely out of date. It's, it's crazy how fast this is working. So before it gets too much further ahead, let's get to it

S3:S7 Function WITH Design

Wed, 13 May 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Today, we're having a little bit of an intervention. Because somewhere along the line, we all started designing homes like we were preparing for a magazine shoot instead of, you know, living in them. Trying to curate a Pinterest board and then curating a home, and it is just a disaster waiting to happen. I personally even realized I did the same thing in my closet. You'll hear me talk about it in the podcast. The truth is, we get so caught up in inspiration photos that we stop asking the most important question: Does this space actually function for my life? Is it going to make my life easier? Because if your kitchen is beautiful but impossible to cook in, or your entryway looks amazing but has nowhere for shoes, bags, or keys, eventually the space starts working against you, and you're going to hate that space. So today, we are talking about why function matters more than perfection, how to zoom out and design for real life, and why the best homes aren't the ones that photograph the best. They're the ones that make everyday life easier.

S3:E6 Celebrating Mommas!

Wed, 06 May 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Hey, guys. Welcome back to the podcast, and Happy Mother's Day week to all the mothers out there. Today, we are talking about the women who raised us, influenced us, and helped make us who we are today, and whether that was intentional or by accident. And whether your mom is someone you were born to, grew up with, or found along the way, this episode is for you. We are sharing stories, a few laughs, and maybe some insight into why we all turned out the way we did. And listen, if it ever seems like we're doing things a little differently, just know we all discovered that we all came from some interesting and strong stock. And you know that saying, "Mom's always right"? Well, it has definitely been proven that what Mom said comes back to haunt us.

Jeremy's Mom. (his favorite picture of her. This hung in his grandparent's house for as long as he can remember, and reminds him both of them and his mom)

Stuart's Mom.

Dwayne's Mom.

S3:E5 Red, White and Blue without the tacky

Wed, 29 Apr 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Can you smell it? Can you smell the grill in the background? Well, it might be a little early for, but we are almost to May. And in our world, that means we've been getting tons of questions on how to decorate the house for Memorial Day and getting ready for 4th of July and you know, all of the summer engagements that we're getting ready to have. So we've been getting a huge uptick in requests in the store of how do we decorate? And not make it tacky because you know, red, white and blue is really easy to go tacky really quickly. And let me tell you guys, Duane today has some opinions and he's ready to tell it. So let's get to the podcast.

S3:E4 Simple = Stress Free

Wed, 22 Apr 2026 00:00:00 -0400

When this podcast is over, our hope is that you walk away with a few simple. Doable ideas that make even the smallest get together, not only happen, but feel a little more meaningful, not bigger, not more complicated, just a little more special, even if it's just a random school night and friends come over. So whether you're someone who loves hosting or someone who keeps saying, we should get together soon, even if you only partially meet it. This one's for you.

S3:E3 Step by Step

Wed, 15 Apr 2026 00:00:00 -0400

Hey listeners, welcome back and today we are back in our normal places recording this podcast stitched together with wifi. Maybe a Coke Zero and wait. Mabel, stop. That is not a toy. Okay. As I was saying, we're recording remotely today, which means you get the full unfiltered behind the scenes experience complete with our kitten Mabel, who has decided that everything on my desk is now a part of her personal playground.

Notes, toy microphone cord. Absolute favorite toy. My sanity hanging on by a thread. But honestly, that kind of perfectly sums up what we're talking about today, getting back in what's going on in projects in real life, how they don't always move in a straight line. We get things done like they're supposed to be, but the most important thing is to remember.

Every step forward counts. And if you're listening along while working on your own space, we hope that this gives you a little extra push. One idea. One decision, one small win at a time. Alright, before Mabel unplugs something, let's get to the podcast.

S3:E2 After Market Update!

Wed, 08 Apr 2026 00:00:00 -0400

In today's podcast, we are back in the car, but this time on the way home from market. And let me tell you, you can hear how tired we are in our voices and maybe even a little sick. It is not for the faint of heart and hmm, doing it as you get older. Let me tell you. It is not fun. But what is fun is seeing a lot of old friends that you've met around the country year after year and all of the new beautiful stuff.

So we discussed some of our new finds, including a new honey hole that I found I'm so thankful for, as well as lots of beautiful ribbon, getting a little sticker shock on a few items that are out there and catching up with our friend John Mark, enjoying his ribbon. So Stewart, press the gas and let's get home and let's get to this podcast.

Our friend Jennifer we met at dinner, her Etsy shop.

Our friend Brian Lane.

With friends John Mark and Callie.

S2:E24 The Gift, The Grind, The Joy

Wed, 24 Sep 2025 00:00:00 -0400

What do Dwayne and I do when Stuart is out of town? We have a real deep heart to heart....that seems natural, right? Well, in today's episode, it goes deeper than design. It's about joy, stress, boundaries, and the tough but beautiful work of creating a life that feels right to all of us. We talk about the whispers we ignored until they get louder.

The wounded birds that we love and try to help. The energy we allow in our circles and what it means to truly control your own destiny. Along the way, we share our own stories of dismissal, which was not fun. Resilience and the joy we've built, not just in business, but in our hearts. If you've ever felt stuck, if you're searching for your own God wink, or if you need just a reminder that joy is possible even in the middle of the mess, this episode's for you.

S2:E23 Bringing Travels Home

Wed, 17 Sep 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Today we're diving into one of our favorite topics, how travel sparks inspiration and sneaks its way into the way we design our home or for clients, whether it's the art we bring back, the textures we touch, the sense we remember. Or the views that stick around in our minds forever. Travel has a way of reshaping the spaces we create.

Now we'll be talking to Stuart about his wide ranging collection of art across the globe, and why I very deliberately decided not to purchase a certain wooden phallic sculpture and Belize, I'm not joking. True story. This episode is about more than just souvenirs. It's about the stories and sparks of inspiration we gather along the way, and how they shape the way we feel our homes with meaning. Let's get to it.

S2:E22 Old Is New Again?

Wed, 10 Sep 2025 00:00:00 -0400

You know that saying What's old is new again? Well, turns out grandma's living room is having to come back and we're here for it. This trend goes by about a dozen different names, grand millennial, new traditional, nostalgic chic, anything with the word heritage, take your pick. But at the end of the day, it's really about layering cozy textures, rich colors, and those familiar slightly old fashioned details that make a house feel like, well, a home.

Now don't panic. We're not saying you need to raid your grandma's attic and drag out her floral sofa unless you want to, in which case respect. But we are talking about how you can add small touches, patterns, fabrics, colors that add a sense of warmth and history without feeling stuffy. In today's episode, we will walk through what people are adding, which colors are stealing the spotlight right now, and how you can dip your toe into this trend without tossing everything you already own.

So grab a cozy sweater. And bonus points if you stole it from your grandparents' closet, and let's get cozy.

S2:E21 Finding JOY "in Trouble" with YOUR People!

Wed, 03 Sep 2025 00:00:00 -0400

You know that moment when you realize you have found your people. Well, for our guest today, Noelle, it happened with a cocktail in hand and for getting in trouble for talking too much to a complete stranger. Sounds like she would fit in just fine around here. She's definitely our kind of joy to drop.

Noelle is not only one of our biggest fans, a mega fan as we like to call her, but she's also a design client of Stuart's, and she's also the boss lady. I mean THE boss lady behind CycleU, a fitness brand here in Lexington. She founded to be as much about community and joy is about cycling or sweating.

It's a fun conversation about finding joy when it happens unexpectedly and holding on just enough to let it grow. Personally, my favorite part is when Stewart got in trouble with her doing a project. I mean, hey, I have to enjoy mistakes when they happen, but don't worry, she still loves him and they still work together.

He had to get something right. When we recorded this podcast, she was in her office at CycleU perched right above the studio floor. So if you hear some of the music pumping, that was just her way of keeping us motivated to keep moving. Alright, let's get to the podcast. I hope you have your ankle warmers on and are stretched.

Ready to go. Here we go guys.

S2:Ep20 Welcome, But You Gotta Leave

Thu, 21 Aug 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Well, friends, we are back on the road. Yes. Once again, you are joining us from a very glamorous recording studio known as a rental car on I65. And before we get started, full disclosure, there may have been.. okay, there definitely was a tiny audio hiccup. Thanks to my fat fingers and this blasted phone. Well, I'll explain it when it happens, so you kinda get a full picture there.

But nonetheless, Jeremy had just rolled back in fresh off of vacation. So naturally his mind was still in relaxed mode and was also still thinking about the ways that I might've been comfortable slash uncomfortable in different spaces. So this had me thinking when we have people over at the house, what ways do we go about making our home more comfortable and welcoming for them?

So today we are sharing some of our favorite ways to help guests feel right at home in our home. So they're comfortable, happy, but they won't stay too long. They'll get on back, . , So buckle back up. Ignore the background road noise and well again, my fat fingers and let's hit the road together again.

S2:E19 Our Take on Home/Builder Tours

Wed, 30 Jul 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Have you ever walked through a tour of homes or Builder showcase and found yourself thinking, what were they thinking? Guilty over here. I definitely have, well, in today's podcast we're talking about how these home tours can be just as educational for what not to do as they are for inspiration.

And guys, we have seen some things, I mean, awkward things, design fails. I. Even some personal items left out that really made us question if the homeowners knew that this was even open to the public. Oh my God, I was so embarrassed for them. And yes, I will be telling a story from years ago that still lives in my head, rent free.

And to be honest, it still lives in our friends group chat. Let's just say it left us wondering what exactly went on in that house.

So get your admission ticket out and get ready for some home tour tee, some gentle design roast, and some lessons you won't find in a builder's brochure. Right? Let's get to it.

S2:E18 Roadtrip to Market! Literally!

Wed, 23 Jul 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Alright, y'all, this episode is a little different because we are not at home. We're actually recording this one from the car driving down I 75 on the way to market in Atlanta. Yep. We are literally taking the podcast on the road. We're heading down to by spring for 2026, if you can believe it. And I figured well this is the perfect time to bring you all along, so the sound might be a little bumpier than usual.

But you'll get a real behind the scenes look at what market's like from the passenger seat in part one recorded. On the way down, I'll talk about how we prepare for the trip, what we're hoping to find, testing out a new shoe that might have been a bad idea, and why we weren't entirely sure if Dwayne was even gonna make it into market.

And then on part two, recorded. On the way back you'll hear about the new fines, some new ribbon vendors that we're really excited about a lamp company that we haven't bought from in years because they got a second chance from Stewart. He was very kind and updates on shoes, the food, and most importantly Dwayne, he did get into the show.

So buckle up literally and come along for the ride. This is our market Road trip Recap.

Wed, 16 Jul 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Have you ever walked into a furniture store, sat on a sofa and thought. Wait, why does this feel like a marshmallow wrapped in cardboard? Or maybe have you bought a chair that looked amazing online and then it showed up and it was stuffed with packing peanuts and it was just, ughgh... Well, today we're sitting down with our friend Jennifer, who, let's be honest, probably knows more about furniture that most of us know about our own family.

She's been in the custom upholstery world for nearly 30 years. That's a lot of fabric and sofas y'all. And today, she's spilling the secrets. What's worth your money? Just clever marketing and how to spot a piece that will actually last you for the length of time that you want it to last.

S2:E16 Tips for Summer Hosting Without The Stress

Wed, 09 Jul 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Have you ever invited people over and then immediately regretted it because now you have to clean the house, prep the food, and then in some kind of Olympic sport, have it already before your first guests arrive. And let's note someone's always a little early. Yeah. I've done it. I think we've all done it.

In today's episode, we are talking about summer hosting, how to prep your space, make your guests feel welcome and involved, and how to actually enjoy time with people who you have invited into your home instead of stressing over the details From quick ways to fluff up your house to our favorite, no fuss, entertaining tips, as well as the items that we keep on hand for those last minute drop-ins!

S2:E15 JOY Dropper OG - Amber, Feral Mountain Princess

Wed, 02 Jul 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Today's episode is a joyful ride through the woods, the stage and straight to the heart of what it means to truly be yourself and be comfortable in your skin. We're sitting down with our friend Amber, who's lived a lot of lives from romping through the forest as a little girl to strutting across the pageant stage as a beauty queen to gracing our TV screens as a host, and now, well, she's best known to her friends as the Feral Mountain Princess. That's a true story.

Amber has the incredible way of finding herself in the wild, both literally and metaphorically. She's an avid hiker, a seeker of joy actually. She is the og. Joy dropper. She's where we learned the term, and someone who's learned to come home to herself by coming home to nature.

Our chat with her is full of laughter, surprising stories, and a beautiful reminder that you do not have to fit a mold to feel completely at peace with who you are. So grab a cozy drink or lace up your hiking boots, and let's enjoy this journey with the one and only Feral Mountain Princess.

S2:E14 Tips We Use At Home

Wed, 25 Jun 2025 00:00:00 -0400

If you're anything like us, we love a tip or trick that changes the way we do something for the better. I mean, right. Don't you? Those little and often easy things can totally make a difference in our day, and it never fails that someone we know, knew, and for some reason never divulged, RUDE!

Well, today, the three of us are not gatekeeping our favorites that we use in our homes. Any longer. We each are sharing tips and tricks of things that we do that have totally changed the way that our home works for us, both design-wise and functionally. And of course, as you would've imagined, there's a few laughs along the way, and we learned that Dwayne purposefully hid a light switch from his parents. Honestly, it makes total sense. Okay, roll the music.

S2:13 Design Tips to make your Nancy Meyers Dream Home

Wed, 18 Jun 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Have you ever fallen in love with a home in a movie and daydreamed about living there ever since? Now, I know you can't see me, but both of my hands are raised now for the three of us. Specifically. Time and time again, we have fallen in love with the homes in Nancy Meyers films. Now, if you don't know her name, I bet you know some of her movies, or at least the homes from the movies.

Think "Something's Gotta Give", "It's Complicated" (Lord, that kitchen), "The Holiday". Yes, honey! Show me where I can sign up to stay in those homes. Well, in today's podcast, we discuss what's known as the Nancy Meyer style and how it's more of a feeling than a style and in simple ways that you can bring that warm, lived in effortless, elegant vibe to your own space no matter where you live.

And let's get to it because my head is already in the kitchen from its complicated. And Lord, now all I want is some homemade sourdough toast.

S2:E12 How To Decorate For Summer!

Wed, 14 May 2025 00:00:00 -0400

We like to think that we are seasonal decorating gurus around here, but I gotta tell you, summer, it can even challenge the three of us. And let's be honest, it's because spring is so easy, right? You've got bunnies, you've got pastel eggs, you've got flowers, throw some of them out, BAM, you are ready for Spring! In fall, you get some foliage, some pumpkins, BAM. Instant autumn joy! BUT summer, well, it's the season that just shows up in flip flops, and just expects you to go with the vibe. So today we're going to talk about how to handle the season that can be a little bit more about sunburns and maybe a glass of lemonade and aid, and how to create a home with an effortless summer look, without it looking like you raided a luau.

So grab your sandals and let's get to it.

Here's some of the products we discussed from our podcast!

S2:E11 Creating a Beautiful Life

Wed, 07 May 2025 00:00:00 -0400

Hey listeners, we talk a lot on here about creating beautiful homes that will bring you joy, but what about a beautiful life that does the same one that feels as good as it looks? Well, today, we are getting a little more real. No talk of draperies, no paint colors or gallery walls. Just the messy, beautiful truth of what it means to find your joy in unexpected places AND being open to share it.

And if you've thought, I am too old to do something like that, or I've missed my chance, well guess again because our guest is the perfect example of how it's never too late to create a life led by joy again and again. Believe it or not, her story starts with a cookie and discussing her gynecologist appointment with a stranger. I am not kidding.

You are going to love her story, but most of all, we hope that it helps bring the idea of not just creating a beautiful home for you, but to create a beautiful life and to share it with others.
