A mere week has passed since the hearings, and the ripples of change are already evident. We want to salute the Twin Cedars Manufactured Homes community and the leadership of Judy Annin.  Twenty-five residents journeyed to Salem to testify, many for their first time! A special thank you to each one of you. 

From organizing and strategizing to confronting fears of retribution, this is an example of residents demonstrating that courage isn’t the absence of fear, but the triumph over it.

However, this journey comes with its challenges. As we rally for a better future, we confront the inevitable pushback in the form of online negativity and so-called "trolls." The message is clear: our voices are stronger when united, and we are turning the tide together. Let's keep this momentum alive and continue making strides toward meaningful change.

This is a special Thank You to everyone who took part in Monday's hearing in Salem at the Oregon State Capitol. You stood up and it happened. Because you, the Oregon State Tenants Association (OSTA) made waves during the kickoff hearing of House Bill HB 3054. 

Your willingness to fill the testimony rooms to overflowing and don cow hats is how we fight for tenant rights. You'll hear about our colorful, energetic gathering and the remarkable strides we've made with this groundbreaking legislation, the first of its kind to progress this far in years. We'll explore the potential impact of the CPI cost cap and the necessary amendments on the horizon. What you did is a shining example of grassroots activism at its finest, punctuated by moments of camaraderie and determination.

One highlight is the surprising lengths some will go to to silence tenants. From a bizarre offer in Forest Grove, Oregon, where tenants were tempted with $26 annually to stay out of advocacy activities, to broader questions of industry self-regulation, our conversation is both eye-opening and empowering. Thank you to all who stood up and made a difference.

Known as HAF, they can provide lot rent assistance to homeowners who own their manufactured homes. They must be winding the program down and are only accepting new applications submitted by (free) housing counselors for homeowners getting close to foreclosure or lot rent eviction. With that limited scope in mind, if this is you, they invite you to reach out.
