Many gastroenterologists and multidisciplinary gastrointestinal (GI) care teams lack confidence in recognizing patients at risk for fibrotic progression and inconsistently apply objective monitoring and management strategies until complications have already developed. In addition, evolving insights into the biologic mechanisms driving chronic tissue remodeling and emerging therapeutic approaches targeting these pathways have not yet been fully integrated into routine clinical practice.
