In todays episode we tackle the topic of personalising your wedding. The teeny, tiny touches that you may like to include to make your wedding uniquely yours. Have your guests screaming “THAT IS SO THEM” or if it’s during a speech, whispering how personal that element is. From thinking about a sentimental date, taste testing a cake flavour to reflecting on your favourite colour, drink and design elements. Here are some of our suggestions on personalising your wedding:

The Ceremony

Most people think the bright lights, raging dancefloor and flowing of drinks is going to be people’s favourite but surprise! It often ends up being the ceremony. In todays episode, we break down the important parts of a ceremony and how it can be the absolute hands down, highlight of your day!

We are bias when it comes to celebrants and ceremonies but essentially your celebrant is hosting your wedding. They arrive to the ceremony before you do so having someone with the tone, vibe and style that you love and want your guests to be greeted with is really important.

And just a side note, and some information around the legal bits, here is the Notice of Intended Marriage. This must be in the hot hands of a celebrant one calendar month before your wedding. For example, if you’re planning your wedding for the 16th of February, it needs to have been signed by an authorised witness (i.e. your celebrant) and the original is with them by the 16th of March.

Planning Your Guestlist

It’s time to roll out the red carpet and write down who you want part of your picture perfect day.

Do I invite my best friends new boyfriend?
What about Uncle John with the iPad?
Do we invite Jen and Sam because we went to their wedding 4302 years ago?
What about dads best friend from highschool?

Picking and choosing your guestlist can be a difficult task and easy to procrastinate and have a lot of doubt over. We haven’t even got to the seating chart yet so first, let’s look at what the venue will allow for space and if that per head cost is something we can afford. Planning your guest list is a task that above all, requires communication, and compromise with your partner as you juggle family expectations, plus ones and also won’t someone think of the children?

If you'd like to give guests a gentle reminder that your wedding is an adults and newborn babies only event, here's a little poem we've found just for you

Our families and friends are all invited, there really is a lot.
As much as we love children, it will be adults only as we tie the knot.
If they are a baby that is bottle or breast fed (Optional)
