The Collecting Track has been one of the longest standing Star Wars Celebration traditions. Since that first weekend in Denver, collectors have shared their knowledge, their holy grails, their special interests, and so much more with audiences around the world during Celebration. Today, Kara is joined by Duncan Jenkins, who has been part of the Collecting Track since 1999. Duncan is also an established collector, with his own treasure trove referred to as the Sithsonian. Kara asks Duncan about his memories of the earliest Celebrations, and some of the things that make the Collecting Track such a beloved part of the convention. As a member of Rancho Obi-Wan's Board of Directors, Duncan also tells us about the planned Saga Museum and how fans can support the project!

C3 is remembered for the appearance by George Lucas and the hype for Revenge of the Sith, but it was also the first Celebration to have a Tattoo Track, which is now a beloved part of the convention! At the helm of that first event (and most of them since) was Shane Turgeon, collector, photographer, and author of The Force in the Flesh Volumes 1 and 2. Kara had so many questions for Shane about all of the Celebrations he had attended, his time with the tattoo track, how the feature became a reality, and so much more. FANDOM HISTORY HIGHLIGHTS: Fanzine Ends After Empire? The Full Story

Happy Star Wars Podcast Day! I'm happy to be participating with a brand new Fandom History Highlight. There was recently a viral post going around of a letter...a fanzine in 1981 stating that they would no longer make their zine after seeing Empire Strikes Back. Those who saw the post were commenting about how nothing ever changes. "No one hates Star Wars like a Star Wars fan," said one commenter. I wanted to dive deeper, to get the full story of why these fanzine editors didn't like Empire, why they had the strong reaction. Was it really supporting a long held negative notion about Star Wars fans? Or does the context change the narrative?
