Episode 42 is a special one with my friend, Noni Allwood, as we discuss her most important career as an end of life doula. We met in 2018 while on a Cuba trip with 20 women entrepreneurs to help women in business throughout Cuba. Noni lives in the bay area near San Francisco and is originally from El Salvador. She is an experienced executive, speaker and research fellow focused on corporate culture transformation and equality in support of innovation and business success.

Noni is now retired but spent her career as an Engineer, over 13 years at Cisco as a Senior Director in Connected Urban Development , which is a global initiative to help solve the problem of climate change in cities. Noni then started her own firm and ran that for almost 16 years. Noni has also served on many boards in her career.

In 2021, Noni's sister in El Salvador was diagnose with terminal cancer. Noni spent the next 10 months by her side in El Salvador caring for her until she passed. Noni has now dedicated her life to her new career as an End of Life Doula, which she says is her most profound and meaningful role. This episode is unlike any I've done over the last 4 1/2 years. 19. Heather Olson on the Gold medal at the 1996 Olympics & the perfect 10

Heather Olson won not only the Gold medal at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta Georgia in front of the home crowd but they also received a perfect 10 score! It was the first time in history for artistic swimming, previously known as synchronized swimming, to compete as a full team in the Olympics. Heather recounts her years growing up and the dedication and perseverance it took to become number one. Not only was the physical nature grueling, but also the mental game. From quotes they'd say to each other like "the water is toasty warm", and "let's try and make each other better" to "practice like it's competition and compete like it's practice". Heather and her team were able to mentally make the day to day grind for years to come to literally finish on top.

From team captain at Stanford, Stanford's head coach for over 11 years to coaching the walnut creek Aquanuts the last 11 years, she continues to remain in the sport, along with being the NBC announcer for the Olympics. When researching Heather, the amount of awards & accolades were too long to list but let's just say she was inducted into the synchro hall of fame and received the Esther Williams Creative Achievement award.
