Joi is a wife, mother, social worker and entrepreneur. She's from Miami, Florida, USA and a graduate of the University of Miami with a degree in psychology. During college she was given an assignment to interview an elderly person (she chose her grandmother's sister). This was the source of her inspiration to create a way for people to connect, teach and learn from their loved ones. She (a millennial) then started working with her grandfather's sister (a baby boomer, and retired teacher) to design thought provoking questions that could bridge the generational divide we often face when sharing and comparing stories from our past. This also inspired her to find ways to make reading and writing fun for people of all ages, and letter writing is an age-old method to connect with others and build literacy.

Cynthia Heren is a speaker, writer and homeschooling mom of 3 since 2014. With a variety of learning disabilities and other challenges across her 3 kids, her homeschool requires Outside the Box ideas. Normal at her house includes 2 trampolines, 5 sizes of pencils and indoor and outdoor swings, and a whole room full of LEGOs. She loves working one on one with other homeschool parents, encouraging them to create the perfect education plan for their Outside the Box kids. She also runs the Outside the Box Homeschool Community on Facebook where she hosts monthly workshops about homeschooling and Neurodiversity.

Malia is a coffee-loving, homebody and homeschool mom of two, who is passionate about making sure that play is present every day. She holds a master's in special education with a specialization in Applied Behavior Analysis and she's a licensed Special Education teacher in the state of Virginia with Board Certification in Behavior Analysis. Malia taught special education and served as an assistive technology teacher for over 10 years in her local public school system before making the shift to homeschooling her own children.

In the transition to homeschooling she realized that there was a need for parental support and community, so she created the PLAY to Learn Method and began mentoring in the homeschool space. Her passion for learning through play began in her first-year teaching and has evolved since having her own children. No matter the age, there is one thing that has always been true in her years in education. Learning happens in the hands-on moments, where kids are free to explore, laugh, experiment, and even make occasional messes.

Veronica's search to provide meaningful support when her kiddos were struggling was filled with finding conflicting info or lack of help that was helpful. Having spent years and many thousands of dollars to figure it out, now she's dedicated to helping other families uncover what what's missing in their kiddo's support so that they can experience more success in school, at home, and with relationships. Veronica is the founder of ADHD - What Now and runs events, a peer membership community dedicated to accelerating progress, and the Where to Start Workshop to get help that actually helps your neurodiverse kiddo.

Sarah Miller lives in Michigan with her husband of 12 years and 2 children, who she has homeschooled since birth. In addition to being a homeschool mom, she is also an educator with over a decade of experience teaching kids in preschool through high school. Sarah’s signature program, Reading Better Together, helps homeschool parents teach their kids to read with confidence using scripted lessons and side by side stories that make the process of learning to read fun.

She does this through here blog where she shares tips and tricks to make homeschooling simple and fun. Her advice has been published in national publications including Parents, National Geographic Kids, and Yahoo Lifestyle. She has an online tutoring business and is the host of The Teachers Make Money Online virtual summit. She left the traditional classroom to raise her children and She later started teaching online to reconnect with what she loved, teaching! And start bringing in more income. :) She has scaled her part time business into a full time income through multiple income streams. She launched The Reading Project podcast, has been a featured presenter for several online events. Ashley created the Teachers Make Money Online summit because she wants to empower more teachers to use their skills to earn income online. She now coaches other educators as they explore the possibilities beyond the classroom.

Alexa Imwalle is the Owner and Founder of Smart Start Tutors LLC. Alexa is a certified Reading Interventionist, Orton-Gillingham trained tutor, and former elementary education teacher. She is also a wife and mom to twin 5-year-old girls and a baby boy. Starting in the second grade, Alexa struggled to read and write proficiently. Alexa was diagnosed with learning disabilities that included slow processing speed in third grade which meant everything took her longer, a whole lot longer, including reading and writing! Alexa was fortunate to have amazing teachers who inspired her and ultimately motivated her to dedicate her life to supporting struggling readers. After almost a decade of teaching, Alexa left the classroom with twin babies at home. Alexa's desire to be more present for her family while continuing to do what she loves, teaching struggling readers, led to Smart Start Tutors being born in 2017. Today Alexa and her team work with a variety of students in grades K-5 with the mission to help each child become a strong and independent reader and ultimately a lifelong learner.
