In this message, Pastor K. Paul Maurer explores the rhythm Jesus modeled with His disciples: follow, lead, follow again. From Matthew 9:35–10:8, we see Jesus call ordinary people to follow Him, equip them to serve others, and send them out to make a difference.

Scripture: Matthew 9:35–10:8
Speaker: K. Paul Maurer

But Jesus doesn't stop at seeing the need. He turns to His disciples and tells them the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.

In this message, Bob challenges us to become good-news people who don't simply notice brokenness, but allow the compassion of Jesus to move us toward people. The harvest is all around us. The question is whether we're willing to be sent into it.

Through the miracles of Matthew 9, we see the heart and power of Christ for people at the top, the bottom and everywhere in between. And when prayers are answered (and when they aren't) we can still trust Him. Because the greatest miracle isn't simply what Jesus can do for us. The miracle is Jesus.

In Mark 5:21–43, Pastor K. Paul Maurer shares the story of Jairus, a father who comes to Jesus in desperation after learning that his daughter has died. Jesus tells him, “Don't be afraid. Just believe.”

Through this powerful story, we discover that faith doesn't stop with words. It moves into action. We are challenged to trust God, walk alongside people in their hardest moments, and live with the hope of eternity in mind.

This message also includes a personal testimony from Pastor Adam about the moment he first prayed to Jesus when his newborn daughter was in danger.

Don't quit. Keep on believing.

What does it look like for us to live there too? We admit we can’t. We ask for help. We trust Jesus even when He seems delayed. And we receive what only He can give.

Whether you feel like you have everything together or you’ve reached the end of yourself, Jesus meets you where you are. The question is: will you stay in the crowd, or will you come to His feet?

In this message, Pastor K.Paul Maurer dives into Mark 5:1–20 and explores what happens on the other side of the storm. The disciples had just watched Jesus calm the wind and waves, but they were about to see that His power didn’t stop there.

This message is about restoration, the people we’re tempted to give up on, and a simple challenge for every follower of Jesus: don’t overcomplicate your story. Just tell people what Jesus has done for you.

The disciples knew Jesus had told them they were going to the other side, but when the storm came, their circumstances became louder than His words. Pastor K.Paul Maurer reminds us that faith isn't pretending the storm isn't real. Faith is choosing to trust what Jesus has said even when what we see seems to contradict it.

The sermon also reminds us that Jesus doesn't simply have the power to calm the storm, He has the heart to walk with us through it.

The coming Kingdom gives us hope, but it should also shape how we live today—sharing the gospel, loving people well, and obeying Jesus even in the small things (Matthew 13:31–33).

Pastor Kodi also points us to the hope of Revelation 20–21: one day God will make all things new, with no more death, mourning, crying, or pain.

So the question is simple: Where have your eyes stopped looking to Jesus, and where has your obedience fallen short?

Look ahead to Kingdom coming. Settle into Kingdom living.

In Matthew 13:44–46, Jesus describes the Kingdom of Heaven as a treasure and a pearl so valuable that discovering them changes everything. In this message, Pastor K. Paul Maurer explores what it means for the Kingdom of Heaven to become more than something we look forward to—it becomes a reality that changes how we live right now.

When Jesus becomes King, He doesn’t simply become another part of our lives. He becomes the operating system. Our priorities, relationships, time, resources, and purpose begin to look different.

The life everyone wants may not be found in getting more for ourselves, but in discovering the joy of giving our lives away for something greater.

Scripture: Matthew 13:44–46
Message: The Life Everyone Wants
Pastor: K. Paul Maurer

The reminder for all of us is simple: don't underestimate the little things. Whether it's serving, praying for someone, inviting a friend, or showing kindness, God uses small acts of faithfulness to grow His Kingdom. You don't have to do something big to make a difference—you just have to be faithful where God has placed you.

Pastor K. Paul explores how the enemy works through deception, why the presence of evil is not evidence of God's absence, and how believers can remain rooted in God's truth while trusting Him with ultimate justice. Instead of living as fault-finders, we're called to faithfully plant seeds of peace, righteousness, and hope wherever God has placed us.

Discover how to recognize "religious rot" in your own life and pursue the kind of faith that transforms you from the inside out.

Description:
What did Jesus mean when He said, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” Pastor Bob Smith teaches from Matthew 12:46–50 on family, obedience, spiritual belonging, and the comfort of being received into the family of God.

In this message, Pastor Bob Smith explores the reality of spiritual warfare, the difference between external improvement and internal renewal, and why self-help alone can never accomplish what only Jesus can do. The gospel doesn't simply make people better—it makes them new.

Whether you're struggling with old habits, searching for lasting change, or wondering how Christians should impact today's culture, this message points back to the only hope that truly transforms lives: Jesus Christ.

In Matthew 12:38-42, Jesus points to Jonah, the people of Nineveh, and the Queen of the South to reveal a powerful truth: God has already provided enough evidence to respond in faith. The question is not whether God is speaking. The question is whether our hearts are willing to listen.

In this message, we'll explore the danger of hardened hearts, why truth exposes what we truly treasure, and why Jesus—greater than Jonah, greater than Solomon, and greater than any sign—demands a response from every one of us.

Scripture: Matthew 12:38-42

In this message, we explore one of the most challenging passages in Scripture and discover that the unforgivable sin is not about a single mistake or moment of doubt. Instead, Jesus warns against a lifelong rejection of the Holy Spirit's work of conviction and His testimony about Christ.

We'll also examine how our words reveal the condition of our hearts, why repentance matters, and how the grace of Jesus remains greater than any sin.

Key Scripture: Matthew 12:31-37

Guest speaker Rev. Donovan Coley opens our new series, When Truth Stands Its Ground, by examining Luke 10–11 and Jesus' teaching on spiritual authority, the Kingdom of God, and the unseen spiritual realm.

"Spiritual warfare is won in the life of the Christian when we stand on the truth about who God is and whose we are."

Whether you're facing opposition, confusion, fear, or doubt, this message will encourage you to stand your ground on the truth of God's Word.

This message explores how Jesus values the people others ignore and how His mercy doesn’t just restore people, it empowers them.

If you’ve ever felt unseen, disconnected, or unimportant, this message is for you.

Series: Rich in Mercy
Scripture: Luke 8:1–3

Some judged her. Some stood by silently. Jesus saw her differently.

In this message from Luke 7, we explore what mercy really looks like, why forgiven people love differently, and the question every person in the room had to answer: Which one are you?

In Luke 7, John the Baptist, the same man who prepared the way for Jesus, finds himself questioning in a dark season. Instead of responding with shame or condemnation, Jesus responds with mercy, evidence, and compassion.

In Luke 7, we see a powerful moment where Jesus meets a grieving widow at the gates of a city—and everything changes. This message explores the heart of Jesus: a Savior who feels our pain, steps into broken places, and speaks life where there was only death.

But this story isn’t just about what Jesus did then—it’s about what He still does now.

If you’ve ever felt stuck, numb, or like something in your life is beyond hope, this message is for you.

Jesus still brings dead things back to life.

In Luke 7, Jesus is amazed—not by a religious leader, but by a Roman centurion. A man outside the “church world” shows a level of faith that stands above everyone else.

This message challenges us to move beyond talk and into action:

•  Faith begins with hearing
•  Faith is marked by humility
•  Faith responds immediately
•  Faith trusts Jesus completely

If we want to be known for anything, let it be this:
 not judgment, not religion—but mercy.

What would change if we lived every day with this mindset:
 “Jesus, just say the word.”

In this message from Matthew 7:24–29, we explore Jesus’ powerful teaching about the wise and foolish builders—and what it really means to follow Him.

This isn’t about hearing more truth… it’s about living it.

You’ll be challenged to:

•  Move from listening to obedience
•  Build a faith that shows up every day
•  Stand strong when life’s storms hit

“Storms don’t destroy a life built on Jesus… they reveal it.”

Whether you’re feeling strong or barely holding on, this message will point you back to the only foundation that lasts.

In this message, we walk verse-by-verse through Matthew 7:15–23, where Jesus gives a clear warning: not everything that looks spiritual is true. In a culture shaped by screens, influencers, and constant content, it’s never been more important to discern what’s real.

Jesus shows us that the test isn’t appearance—it’s fruit.

He is risen—now what?

In this message, we explore what it truly means to live a resurrected life. Jesus didn’t just rise from the dead—He showed us a new way to live. A life marked by surrender, transformation, and purpose.“Resurrection always comes after surrender.”

“The resurrected life is not about trying harder. It’s about dying sooner.”

Through Luke 9, we see that following Jesus isn’t just about believing in Easter—it’s about living it every day.

We often focus on the physical suffering of Jesus—but the deeper reality of Good Friday is what happened spiritually. In this message, we explore the weight Jesus carried, the separation He endured, and the love that drove Him all the way to the end.

This isn’t just a story about suffering—it’s a declaration of love.

In this Palm Sunday message, we look at a moment where Jesus is asked a direct question—but gives a deeper response. Instead of a simple answer, He gives four urgent warnings about salvation, eternity, and what it really means to know Him.

This message challenges us to move beyond surface-level faith and respond to the invitation Jesus is offering right now.

In this message from Matthew 7:12, we explore Jesus’ words:

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.”

This isn’t just a nice idea—it’s a foundation for how we live, love, and follow Jesus every day.

From your workplace to your marriage, your friendships to your private life, this teaching challenges everything:

• Why we struggle to live it out
• How selfishness gets in the way
• What it actually looks like in real life
• And how Jesus modeled it perfectly

“The golden rule isn’t about avoiding wrong—it’s about initiating good.”

If you’ve ever thought, “Someone should step up,” this message is simple:

You’re up.

Jesus tells us to ask, seek, and knock, but what does that really look like in everyday life?

Through powerful stories like blind Bartimaeus and the persistent widow, we see that faith isn’t passive. It’s honest prayer, active pursuit, and perseverance that refuses to give up.

In this sermon, we talk about:

• Why we often stop ourselves from asking God
• What it means to put “feet on our prayers”
• How persistence shapes a gritty, resilient faith

God isn’t distant or uninterested in your life.
He invites you to bring your needs honestly and trust that He is ready to respond.

Jesus first calls us to humility. Before we correct others, we must examine our own hearts and remove pride, hypocrisy, and self-righteousness.

But once our vision is clear, we’re called to bring God’s truth into everyday life—our workplaces, schools, families, and communities. The challenge is that not everyone welcomes truth. Some respond with hostility, mockery, or contempt.

This message explores how followers of Jesus can live with both boldness and discernment—sharing truth with grace, knowing when to step forward, and knowing when to step back.

This sermon unpacks the difference between discernment and condemnation, truth and hypocrisy, correction and compassion. In a culture that rushes to criticize, cancel, and catalog every failure, Jesus calls His followers to something radically different: gentleness, humility, and mercy.

We are reminded that:

• The measure we use will be measured back to us.
• Hypocrisy undermines authentic faith.
• Restoration must begin with self-examination.
• Forgiven people should be the quickest to forgive.

What if the church became known not for exposing failures — but for healing them?

Listen in and be challenged to remove the log, extend grace, and live the mercy we’ve received.

Why is worry so common? Where does it come from? And what does Jesus actually offer us instead?

Drawing from Matthew 6 and real-life experience — including a recent stage four cancer diagnosis — Dave shares two simple but life-changing practices:

• Admit it.
 • Release it.

You may not control tomorrow.
But you can trust God with today.

If you’ve been living in anxiety about what might happen next, this message will gently bring you back to what matters most: the Father who sees you, hears you, and cares for you.

What we treasure ultimately shapes our hearts. In week one of our Disrupted series, we explore Jesus’ words in Matthew 6 and confront a quiet danger in our lives—losing our hearts to material things without even realizing it.

If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, stretched thin, or stuck chasing “more,” this message will help you refocus your heart on what matters most.

In this message, we explore Jesus’ words in the Lord’s Prayer: “Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” This teaching challenges us to get honest about sin, release bitterness, and experience the freedom Christ promises.

This episode unpacks what sin really is, why forgiveness matters, and how living in community leads to healing and spiritual growth. If you want to start the year focused, free, and grounded in truth—this message is for you.

In this message, Pastor K Paul presents The Case for Christmas, showing that the birth of Jesus is not a myth or fairytale, but a historically grounded, prophetically fulfilled, and life-changing reality.

Drawing from the Gospel of Luke, archaeological discoveries, fulfilled prophecy, and real-life transformation stories — including Lee Strobel’s journey from skeptic to believer — this message challenges listeners to take Christmas (and Christ) seriously.

From the manger to the cross and the empty tomb, discover why Christmas is the beginning of the greatest story ever told — and why it still changes lives today.

We’re reminded that two kingdoms are constantly competing for our allegiance—the kingdom of self and the kingdom of God. While living for ourselves may feel natural, it often leads to anxiety and emptiness. Living for God’s kingdom, though it may feel risky, leads to freedom, peace, and lasting purpose.

This sermon challenges us to examine where our true allegiance lies and invites us to trust God’s will—even in seasons of suffering, loss, and uncertainty.

Key Scripture: Matthew 6:9–10

In this message, we discover how these two words settle five major relationships in our lives: the unseen world, the seen world, our relationship with others, our relationship with ourselves, and our relationship with God.

Through powerful encouragement and practical teaching, we’re invited to step into a prayer life that brings peace, purpose, and alignment with God’s will.
If you’ve ever struggled to focus in a distracted world, this message will help anchor your heart in the love of the Father.

Through stories of baptism, partnerships with local churches, and powerful statistics from Fort Wayne city leaders, we see how spiritual seeds can transform neighborhoods, families, and entire communities.

Our city is the field. Our faith is the seed. And God promises that those who sow generously will reap generously.

Come be part of what God is doing in and through Avalon Missionary Church.

We are reminded that faith isn’t merely something we confess, it’s something we embody. When we choose forgiveness over bitterness, humility over pride, and obedience over comfort, we demonstrate a kingdom way of life that stands out in a world that runs on self-promotion and self-protection.

The message invites us to take an honest look at the places where our beliefs and behaviors don’t quite align—and to let Jesus transform those places. Because our lives are a testimony, and how we live points people either toward the hope of Christ or toward something else entirely.

This episode will encourage you, challenge you, and help you step into a faith that’s not just spoken… but lived.

Learn how to examine your motives, understand the difference between empty and eternal rewards, and rediscover what it means to give from love, not out of duty or prestige.

Loving our enemies isn’t weakness; it’s maturity. We’re called to be tools in the Maker’s hands — bringing light where there’s darkness and healing where there’s division. Pastor K. Paul closes with Corrie ten Boom’s powerful story of forgiveness, revealing what supernatural love looks like in action.

Through humor, honesty, and deep biblical insight, John reminds us that Jesus is our Creator, our Destiny, and our Purpose — and that He has the audacity to tell us how to live. This message challenges us not to lower God’s standards for our comfort, but to live in the fullness of His righteousness.

October 5, 2025 • K.Paul Maurer • Matthew 5:13

This week, Pastor K. Paul unpacked Jesus’ words: “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Matthew 5:8).

Do you want to see God more clearly in your life, your family, your city? It starts with the heart.

Listen in as we talk about holiness, guarding your heart, and the dangerous prayer that could change everything.

What does it really mean to live with mercy?

This week at Avalon, Pastor K. Paul continued our journey through the Beatitudes with a message called “Blessed Mercy” from Matthew 5:7: “Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.”

Mercy, Pastor K. Paul explained, isn’t just feeling sorry for someone—it’s entering their world, seeing with their eyes, feeling with their heart, and walking with them in their struggle. Mercy triumphs over judgment because it reflects the very heart of God through Christ.

So here’s the challenge: in your home, at work, in your neighborhood—or even pulling out of the church parking lot—will you choose mercy, or judgment?

What are you hungry for?

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.” But so often, we chase after happiness, possessions, and self-driven goals—only to end up empty.

What if true fulfillment isn’t about consuming more…but surrendering more?

In this message, discover how a hunger for God’s presence and His righteousness can transform your priorities, reshape your passions, and redefine what happiness really means.

This week, Pastor Kodi continues our Beatitudes series with a deep dive into “Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.” Far from weakness, biblical meekness is gentleness, humility, and increased faith in the One who holds all things together. Through stories, Scripture, and real-life examples, we’ll see how meekness transforms how we respond under pressure and points us to the eternal hope we have in Christ. Whether you’ve walked with Jesus for decades or are just exploring who He is, this message will challenge you to trust more deeply and live more fully in step with the Spirit.

This week, we explored Jesus’ words: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” But this isn’t just about personal grief—it’s about spiritual brokenness. When we truly mourn our sin and the suffering of others, we find ourselves aligned with the heart of God. Listen in as we uncover how mourning opens our eyes, softens our hearts, and leads us to the hope only Jesus can give.

In this message from our Beatitudes series, we explore Jesus’ bold opening line: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.”
What does it mean to be poor in spirit—and why would Jesus call it blessed? Discover why the gateway to the Kingdom of God is through spiritual dependence, not strength, and how embracing your need for God leads to true freedom.

As we look at the 12 men who Jesus called his disciples, Pastor K.Paul asks this question, "What would you die for?"

Jesus walks into a synagogue and sees a man with a withered hand. But He also sees a room full of withered hearts.

This week’s message isn’t just about healing—it's about what you’re gripping so tightly… that it might be gripping you back.
Religion vs. compassion. Rules vs. restoration. And a simple invitation that still echoes today:
“Stretch out your hand.”

It’s time to let go.
Not of your faith—but of everything else trying to take its place.

This week, Pastor K. Paul walks us through Matthew 12:1–8 and challenges us to rethink the Sabbath—not as a list of rules to follow, but as a gift to receive. Jesus drew four powerful conclusions that flip the script on legalism:

1. God values mercy and love more than ritual precision.
2. The Sabbath was made to bless us, not burden us.
3. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath—and He is our rest.
4. Human traditions must never override God’s Word.

At the heart of the message is this truth:
"You can't live for Him if you don't find life in Him first."

Before we lead, serve, or even strive to be “good Christians,” Jesus invites us to come and rest. In Him, we find the life our souls were made for.

Tune in as we explore how real faith starts not with effort—but with rest.

June 22, 2025 • Dan Binkley • Matthew 9:14–17, Mark 2:18–22, Luke 5:33–39

This week, Pastor Bob Smith takes us into the powerful moment in Matthew 9 when Jesus calls Matthew—a despised tax collector—to follow Him. It’s a reminder that no one is too far gone for God’s mercy.

We all have a past. We’ve all been “sick” in our own way. But Jesus doesn’t wait for us to clean ourselves up—He meets us in the mess and offers us a place in His family.

This message is a call to open our hearts to others the same way Jesus did. Because everyone deserves a chance to experience His grace. And each of us can do something to show our love for Him in return.

Tune in and be encouraged to see people the way Jesus does—and to respond with compassion and action.

Can a believer be possessed by a demon?
Spoiler: No. Because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). But that doesn’t mean believers can’t be oppressed.

In this powerful message, we confront the reality of spiritual warfare—the lies we hear, the temptations we face, and the victory that is already ours in Christ.
