In one of the Bible’s strangest and most debated passages, Genesis 6:1–4 confronts us with the mysterious “sons of God,” the Nephilim, and the growing corruption that led to the Flood. In this sermon we evaluate the major interpretations throughout church history, while still calling believers to humility and charity in disagreement. More importantly, we trace the ongoing spiritual war between the kingdom of darkness and the purposes of God, showing how Satan’s attempts to corrupt humanity ultimately failed before the triumph of Jesus Christ, who has conquered sin, death, and every power of evil through His cross and resurrection.
