He was actually my camp counselor when I was in high school. We’ve worked together over the years at camp and through our association of churches, and I’ve always been blessed by his teaching and preaching.

The message we are going to hear today is from Romans 3:23. In it, he explains why Christ had to die. It is through Christ alone that we are saved, and we really need that salvation because as he explained, all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. We’ve rebelled. We’ve transgressed. We’ve broken the covenant. We’ve fallen short. But Jesus died and rose again on our behalf.

Our podcast is about listening to unfamous pastors, but we want to support these pastors as well. Our church is a biblical counseling training center through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. What does that mean? It means we train pastors and lay people how to counsel and minister to their church and their community using the word. Our training is one of our biggest outreaches, and it’s all about strengthening local churches. If you’d like to support this mission, there’s a link in the show notes where you can give to our biblical counseling ministry.

All the proceeds will go toward training pastors and laypeople to better minister in their local churches.

Thank you for listening. These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their own congregation, so I want to introduce them to you.

Today we hear from Pastor Levi Secord. He is the founding pastor of Christ Bible Church in Roseville, Minnesota. He graduated with an M.Div (2013) and a Doctorate of Educational Ministry (2022) from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Levi has numerous publications with the Front Porch Republic, the Southern Baptist Journal of Theology, and the Fight, Laugh, Feast Network.

I first met Pastor Levi when we went to college together, and he’s always inspired me with his deep knowledge of the Word of God.

In his message today, he discusses the true meaning of the famous verse Micah 6:8. You might want to pull out your Bible and put on your thinking cap for this one because it’s thought-provoking. This famous verse has been misinterpreted in many ways, but when we really understand it, Pastor Levi shows that it points to our need for Christ and the grace that we have in him.

If you'd like to dig deeper on the conditional/unconditional nature of the covenants, I found this article helpful: https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/blogs/justin-taylor/are-gods-covenants-conditional-or-unconditional/

Thank you for listening.

Welcome to Unfamous, the podcast where unfamous pastors preach the fame of God. I’m your host, Cubby Westerberg. Our show is about listening to local, reformed pastors who minister to small congregations, faithfully expositing the Word and preaching from the Scriptures.

These unfamous pastors are unknown to basically everyone but their own congregation, so I want to introduce them to you. Today, I’m going to do something a bit different and introduce myself a little bit and share one of my sermons.

I was born and raised in Cambridge, Minnesota. I’ve been a part of my church since I was six years old, that’s when my dad became the pastor. It was called Dalbo Baptist back then, but now we are Cross Pointe. The Lord saved me when I was fifteen during a week at summer Bible Camp, and my life has never been the same since. I went to the University of Northwestern in Saint Paul, Minnesota where I got my English Education Degree. I also met my wife Sarah there, and we were married in our senior year of college.

After college, I went to The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and I crammed a four-year degree into 8 years while I worked at Cross Pointe. Now, I’m working with the youth group, leading worship, biblical counseling, and doing a lot of the “other” stuff that goes into making church happen.

I feel blessed to be a pastor at Cross Pointe, and I’m excited to see what God will do with this podcast. I’m hoping it will be a blessing to many small, rural churches in Minnesota.

I’m sharing a message with you today that I preached about three months ago. It’s about what it means to be a successful Christian. When it comes to the world’s standards, success is physical health and material wealth, but God’s standard of success is different. He wants to give us spiritual health and spiritual wealth. Let’s see what we can learn from Joshua 1:8.

Thank you for listening.
