Aarin started young and accidentally rent hacked in university which helped to accelerate paying off her student loan. After that, she was hooked! Her and her partner really started learning more about REI and attending more events. In 2019, they went to their first REI meeting (The REIT Club) and then COVID hit and they were on their our own again watching what they could on YouTube, IG and as many ZOOM meetings as possible. They decided to take action fast and purchase their first property in June of 2020 on the Hamilton Mountain. They converted this property into a duplex and then decided to house hack and from there they continued their journey to 6 doors in 2 years! About the Guest:
Brandon and Carolina began their professional lives working in sales and public accounting for over 12 years, navigating the pressures of rising sales targets, tight timelines, countless late nights and missed vacations for bonuses as a way to secure their families financial future. Fuelled by the commitment to be the generational change for their families, they began their real estate investing journey in 2015, without a strategy or education. From there, they bought their primary residence in 2017, until a family medical situation opened their eyes to the vulnerability of their financial situation and they realized, there has to be a better way. They levelled up their investing in 2019 with their first duplex conversion and flip, sold their primary residence, began house hacking and utilizing any free time from their jobs to take up any real estate opportunities they could. In 2021, after the birth of their first child, Teo, they shifted from investing as a business on the side, to building Medalo Properties full time, a wealth generator, a life changer. This meant hiring coaches and investing in growing their knowledge, along with hiring 3 support staff. Since then, Brandon and Carolina have invested in multiple markets and executed on several strategies including flips, multi-family conversions and BRRRRs across more than 25 units. Their biggest current focus is now to help others become more financially literate and maximize their financial potential!

Nancy and her husband started investing in 2015, very passively. They started off with a pre-construction condo in Yorkville but 3 years later they sold it, it had lots of built in equity, so they decided to switch gears and purchase a duplex in Kitchener and a townhouse in Burlington. At that point, when she started seeing some cashflow from just those 2 properties she knew this was going to be her ticket to financial freedom. In 2020 her and her husband hired a mentor and really got serious about real state investing. They now have 16 doors and a ton of experience! Kristin grew up in a house full of realtors and would discuss real estate over the dinner table. Her mom would often play motivational tapes in the car and around the house. She was naturally drawn to science and really strived to be a good student. She also understood the importance of a good mindset at a young age. She soon figured out in college that she wanted more and she wanted an industry that didn't have any ceilings. Although, she still wanted to finish what she started at school - she decided to get into real investing. She studied a bunch of free resources, attended events and realized she wanted to try out airbnb. She pitched to her parents who were renovating their basement at the time to try renting it out on airbnb as apposed to a long term tenant - while she managed the operations! Alexandra Tejeda (@teamtoronto) has been a realtor now for just over a year and focuses more on investors. She is currently looking to get her first investment property as well and is passionate about real estate investing. However, she recognized a gap in the market. She is always listening to podcasts and realized that most of the people being interviewed were men - which is fine but she just wanted to promote a different perspective. Alexandra prides herself on learning daily and has really enjoyed interviewing these seasoned female investors in and around the GTA! This podcast is for both new or seasoned investors and the goal is to create a positive, powerful and female empowered investing group!

About the Guest:
Amy bought her first house at 19 and always loved real estate! She really loved the creative side of things and it shows! In January 2021 she and her husband purchased their first duplex in St Marys near Stratford, Ontario, and 5 days after they purchased a second duplex around the corner! They got creative with financing in order to do this and they scaled fast to 7 properties in 10 months! They have completed many unique conversions such as turning a duplex into a triplex, working on a garden suite conversion at another duplex, working on converting anther duplex which was an old chapel into a fourplex and turning their short term rental into a medium term rental in Goderich. Now they are looking to JV, they are looking at commercial properties & they also want to create a log cabin Airbnb mini resort! So many amazing strategies and it just shows how creative Amy really is!

About the Guest:
Carrie has always been passionate about real estate and started her investing journey in 2015 in Kitchener, Ontario. Carrie and her husband started off right away with multifamilies, specifically triplexes. Their home buying process was not a simple process, but luckily they made some money on their primary residence so they were able to get creative with financing. However, with their first property they inherited some bad tenants. There was a lot of drug use in the building, fighting with the neighbours, police visits etc. eventually they were able to get them out and they fully renovated the building. This project went relatively well and the building increased in value rather quickly. In 2019 they decided they wanted to buy another triplex in Kitchener. This time they were able to purchase a building that was delivered vacant. That building didn’t need a lot of work and it was quite spacious. The reason they wanted these triplexes was to achieve the ultimate goal of buying a cottage. In August 2019 and they were fortunate enough to have the bank approve a mortgage for a back lot cottage that they purchased in a quiet beach town. Shortly after, they were hit with an STR bylaw. They have played the long game and have now made a considerable amount in equity but this road has not always been easy. They have been to the landlord tenant board three times, had to hire private investigators, had several tenants stop paying rent, huge arguments between tenants, had six out of six tenants vacate during Covid. She talks about the difficulties of being a landlord in Ontario but also how she stays motivated and her longterm goals.
