What does it mean to belong to the Good Shepherd?

In this episode of the ABIDE Podcast, we continue our journey through the Gospel of John in the series A Love That Changes Everything as we come to John 10:1–18 and one of the most beautiful pictures Jesus gives us of His relationship with us: “I am the good shepherd.”

Jesus reminds us that His sheep are known by name, hear His voice, and are cared for, protected, guided, and loved by Him. But He also gives us a warning. There is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy. As we look at those words, we’ll consider the ways the enemy works to steal our peace, joy, identity, and hope—and the powerful contrast Jesus gives us: “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

We’ll spend time in Psalm 23, reflecting on the beautiful ways our Shepherd provides for us, restores our souls, walks with us through dark valleys, and promises that His goodness and mercy will follow us all the days of our lives.

And perhaps most importantly, we’ll be reminded that the emphasis isn’t on how inadequate the sheep are, but on how faithful the Shepherd is.

He knows His own. And His own know Him.

So, what has the thief stolen, killed, or tried to destroy in your life? Where might Jesus be inviting you to receive His comfort, restoration, and abundant life? And who in your life still needs to hear the voice of the Good Shepherd?

What does it mean to truly see?

In John 9, Jesus encounters a man who was born blind. While others see his blindness as a problem to explain, Jesus sees a person to love. He opens the man's physical eyes, but as the story unfolds, something even greater happens—his spiritual eyes begin to open as he comes to see Jesus for who He truly is.

And then, after the man is rejected and cast out by the religious leaders, we find one of the most beautiful glimpses into the heart of Jesus: “Jesus heard that they had cast him out, and having found him…”

Jesus didn't heal him and forget him. He went looking for him.

In this episode, we’ll explore what this story teaches us about suffering, spiritual blindness, faith, rejection, and the faithful pursuit of Jesus. We’ll also consider an important question for ourselves: Are we still seeing Jesus, or have we become so familiar with Him that our spiritual eyes have grown dull?

And perhaps the prayer we need to carry with us this week is a simple one:

“Jesus, give me eyes to see.”

Eyes to see Him more clearly.
Eyes to see what He is doing.
And eyes to see the people around us the way He sees them.

Because when we truly see Jesus, His love changes everything.

What does it really mean to abide in Jesus?

As we close out John chapter 8, Jesus gives us a beautiful and challenging invitation: “If you abide in My word, you are truly My disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

In this episode of the Abide Podcast, we explore what it means to remain, dwell, and continue in Jesus and His Word. We’ll look at the difference between simply believing in Jesus and becoming an abiding disciple whose life is continually shaped by Him.

Jesus also exposes the reality of spiritual bondage and the lies of the enemy. When we understand that we cannot recognize a lie unless we know the truth, we begin to see why Scripture is so essential to our daily lives. God’s Word becomes our sword against deception, our protection from sin, and a lamp to guide our steps.

And as the conversation with the religious leaders intensifies, Jesus makes one of the most astonishing declarations in all of Scripture:

“Before Abraham was, I AM.”

This isn't simply a statement about who Jesus was—it is a declaration of who He is.

He is the Truth that sets us free.
He is the Light that shines in the darkness.
He is the Word who became flesh.
He is the great I AM.

So the question John leaves us with is one we must each answer: Will we simply believe in Jesus, or will we abide in Him?

Episode 14 | John 8:12–30 – I Am the Light of the World

What did Jesus mean when He declared, "I am the Light of the world"?

To fully appreciate the weight of those words, we must step into the temple during the Feast of Tabernacles—a celebration commemorating God's faithful presence and guidance through the wilderness. Against the backdrop of towering golden lampstands that reminded Israel of the pillar of fire, Jesus made one of the most astonishing claims in all of Scripture: He is the Light.

In this series of A Love That Changes Everything, we slow down to study one of the most beloved and powerful encounters in the Gospel of John—John 7:53–8:11, the account of the woman caught in adultery.

Before the accusations begin, John gives us a simple but significant detail: Jesus spent the night on the Mount of Olives, a place where He often withdrew to pray and commune with His Father. What can we learn from the rhythm of Jesus' life? How did His time with the Father prepare Him to respond with both truth and grace?

As the religious leaders drag a broken woman before Jesus, hoping to trap Him, we witness the stunning contrast between religion and the Gospel. Religion rushes to condemn. Jesus pauses. Religion looks for someone to blame. Jesus looks for someone to restore.

In a world where everyone has an opinion about Jesus, how do we know who He really is?

In this episode of A Love That Changes Everything, we continue our journey through the Gospel of John as we explore chapter 7. During the Feast of Tabernacles, opinions about Jesus were everywhere. His brothers doubted Him, the crowds debated Him, the religious leaders opposed Him, and the temple guards were sent to arrest Him. Yet through it all, Jesus remained steady because His identity was rooted in the Father who sent Him—not in the approval or rejection of people.

Have you ever found yourself staring at a situation that felt bigger than your ability, resources, or strength to handle?

What does it mean to follow Jesus—and where does that journey really begin?

I’m Gretchen, and I am here again with my favorite co-nerd — my friend Kristin — as we step into the final episode of our Building a House of Faith series. We have spent the last several weeks laying spiritual lumber, digging deep into Scripture, and watching the framework of a life in Christ take shape piece by piece. And today… we place the final beam and raise the roof.

We began this journey with the Foundation — Jesus Christ, the rock beneath our feet.
We framed the house with God’s Word, strong and true.
We set the Beams of Faith, trusting what we cannot see.
We walked through the Doorway of Grace, into new life and redemption.
We breathed in the Atmosphere of Faith, watching how belief permeates every room of the heart.
And now, in this last pillar, we lift our eyes upward to the Covering of Hope and Perseverance — the roof that shelters every part of the house beneath it.

Because a house can only stand if it is covered —
covered by hope, covered by God’s promises,
covered by the One who holds tomorrow.

In this episode we’re going to open Hebrews 10 and Hebrews 12, nerd out on the Greek words elpis and hypomonē, and talk about how hope anchors us and perseverance strengthens us. We’ll look honestly at storms, at waiting seasons, at the long obedience of following Jesus — and how the God who calls us is faithful to finish what He began.

Welcome back to the Nerd In The Word podcast!

I’m Gretchen, and I’m here again with my fellow Scripture-nerd and dear friend, Kristin, as we continue building our “house of faith” in this series.

So far, we’ve looked at the foundation, the framework, the beams, and the doorway…and today we step into one of my favorite metaphors yet:
The Atmosphere of Faith.

Every home has a “feel”—a presence, a tone, an atmosphere. And in the life of a believer, that atmosphere is shaped by faith. Faith isn’t just a pillar we stand on; it’s the way we breathe, move, relate, rest, and grow in Christ. Faith infuses every room of our spiritual house.

In this episode, we’re walking through four rooms—four spaces of the heart—where God wants to cultivate a living, breathing atmosphere of faith:

• The Living Room — Fellowship (koinōnia)

A place of connection, community, and belonging.
We’ll nerd out on the Greek word koinōnia, explore Acts 2:42, and talk about how faith flourishes in shared life.

• The Kitchen — Nourishment (Jesus the Bread / rhema Word)

Where we are fed, strengthened, and sustained.
We’ll look at John 6, Matthew 4:4, and how the rhema (spoken, timely) Word nourishes our daily walk.

• The Bedroom — Rest and Peace

A space of safety, intimacy, and restoration.
Psalm 4:8, Matthew 11:28–30, and Hebrews 4 will guide our conversation about faith that lets us breathe and be still.

• The Basement — Storage, Brokenness, and Hidden Places

The room we’d rather keep closed off.
But faith invites Jesus even here—into the old, heavy, forgotten things.
We’ll visit Psalm 51, Romans 8:1, and the transforming work of the Spirit in our depths.

Through Scripture, stories, questions, and a bit of Greek word-nerding, we’ll explore how faith is more than belief—it’s an atmosphere God is cultivating within us. A climate of trust. A pattern of breathing. A way of inhabiting the life He has built.

So grab your Bible, your journal, maybe a cozy blanket—and let’s walk through the house, room by room, and discover how God fills each space with the life-giving atmosphere of faith.

Welcome back to Nerd in the Word! I’m Gretchen, and I’m here again with my good friend and fellow nerd, Kristin.

Today we’re stepping into our fourth pillar of faith in our Blueprints of Grace series — The Doorway of Grace. If you’ve been following along, we’ve been building a spiritual house: Christ is the cornerstone, God’s Word frames our life, and faith stands as the beams that hold us steady. But now, we reach the doorway — the point where we enter in.

Grace is that doorway. It’s the threshold between the old life we once lived and the new life we’ve been invited into through Jesus Christ. It’s where mercy meets transformation. Titus 3:3–7 paints this picture beautifully:

“For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray... But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit...”

Grace is what opens the door. Christ is the One who holds it wide. And by faith, we step through — leaving behind who we were, to become who we’re meant to be in Him.

So grab your Bible and your builder’s mindset — it’s time to explore the doorway of grace and what it really means to walk through it.

Scripture isn’t just a set of rules or stories—it’s the divine blueprint that gives form and purpose to our faith.

Without it, our lives lose shape. But when we allow the Word of God to guide and ground us, our faith becomes steady, aligned, and ready to stand through whatever storms may come.

Welcome back to Nerd in the Word! I’m so glad you’re joining us for today’s episode, because it’s a very special one. Not only are we continuing to explore the richness of God’s Word, but I’m joined by a dear friend and fellow nerd in the Word.

Though she’s younger than I am, her walk with the Lord has been such an encouragement to me personally. She has learned, often through some very real challenges, what it means to lean into God at just the right moments—moments that could have left her discouraged or defeated. Instead, she chose to turn toward Him, and what she discovered is that God is always faithful to meet us right where we are.

Her story is marked by joy that shines even in the midst of sorrow, by a growing confidence in her identity in Christ, and by a deepening awareness of God’s love and grace. And what I love most is that her journey isn’t polished or perfect—it’s honest, it’s real, and it’s a beautiful testimony of what it looks like to abide in Jesus day by day.

So today, as we share this conversation, I invite you to listen with an open heart. My hope is that her words will encourage you to lean into God in your own story, to discover His faithfulness in fresh ways, and to remember that His love is deeper and stronger than anything we face.

“Welcome back to Nerd in the Word! We’re kicking off a brand-new 6-week series called Building a House of Faith.

Throughout Scripture, faith is often pictured like a building or a home. Jesus told us in Matthew 7 that the wise person builds their house on the rock. Paul calls Christ the cornerstone of our lives. And Peter reminds us that together, we’re living stones being built into a spiritual house.

So for the next six weeks, we’re going to lay down the building blocks of a strong and lasting faith in Christ. Each week we’ll add another part of the house — from the cornerstone, to the framework, to the beams, the doorway, the atmosphere, and even the roof. By the end, we’ll see how all these pieces fit together to make a house of faith that can weather any storm.

Welcome back to Nerd in the Word! Today we’ve reached the final verse in our series on the Lord’s Prayer—“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

This whole journey through the Lord’s Prayer has been rich and transformative for our own prayer lives, and we pray it’s been the same for you. And what a powerful way to end—with a reminder that every single day, we are in desperate need of God’s strength and deliverance.

The truth is, we will never be strong enough, wise enough, or disciplined enough to resist sin in our own power. The pull of temptation is real, and our enemy is relentless. As James 1:13 reminds us, “God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone.” But Scripture is clear—temptation will come. Paul warns in 1 Timothy 6:9 that “those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare… that plunges people into ruin and destruction.” And Peter paints the picture vividly: “Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

But here’s the hope—we are not left defenseless. 1 John 4:4 tells us, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” And 1 Corinthians 10:13 assures us that “God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”

So, this episode is really a call—a call to run to God. To cry out for His strength when we feel the lure of sin. To cling to the One who delivers us from evil. Because only God can.

In this episode of the Nerd in the Word series on the Lord’s Prayer, we slow down and sit with just one verse—Matthew 6:9—a line so familiar that it can be easy to recite but hard to truly absorb:
“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name.”

What does it really mean to call God “Our Father”?
This is more than a title—it’s an identity-shaping truth. Jesus invites us to approach the Creator of the universe not with fear or formality, but with childlike trust. In calling Him “Abba, Father,” we’re reminded of the closeness, care, and covenant love that define our relationship with Him. Yet, in the same breath, we are grounded by the words “in heaven”—a reminder of God's transcendence, sovereignty, and holiness.

We also unpack what it means to hallow God’s name. This ancient word isn’t just about reverence in language; it’s about living in a way that honors who God is. To hallow His name means to set it apart as sacred, to elevate it in our hearts, our homes, and our habits. It’s a call to worship—not only with our lips, but with our lives.

Welcome back to the Abide podcast! I’m your host, Gretchen Stevenson, and I’m joined once again by my fellow word-loving friend Kristin for our Nerd in the Word mini-series on the Shema—that beautiful, foundational declaration of faith found in Deuteronomy 6.

In our last episode, we explored what it means to love the Lord with all your heart (lev) and all your soul (nephesh)—not just with our emotions or spiritual selves, but with the whole of who we are—our thoughts, desires, intentions, breath, and being.

Today, we’re going to lean into the final word in that trio:

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.”

But here’s the twist—“might” in Hebrew is the word me’od (מְאֹד), and it doesn’t mean strength in the way we often think of muscles or power. It actually means muchness—as in: to love God with everything you’ve got. Your energy, your influence, your resources, your capacity, your abundance.

This is about living a life of overflow—loving God with every bit of your more.

We’ll be unpacking two rich Hebrew words: lev (heart) and nephesh (soul). In the Hebrew mindset, these words have meanings that go way beyond our modern understanding.

Loving God with all our heart and soul is not just about emotion or intellect—it’s about the wholeness of who we are: our thoughts, our motives, our breath, our being.

Welcome to the Abide podcast, where we pause in the busyness of life to reflect on the life-giving truth of God’s Word. As we begin this Advent season, our hearts are drawn to a powerful theme: Hope.

Christmas is often celebrated with joy and wonder, but for many, this season can also stir deep longing—a longing for peace, restoration, and the assurance that God has not forgotten us. Advent invites us to lean into this longing and rediscover the promise of hope fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

Today, we’ll journey back to that starlit night in Bethlehem, where shepherds heard the extraordinary news of a Savior born for all people. Together, we’ll unpack what it means to anchor our lives in the living hope of Christ—hope that doesn’t waver, even in our waiting.

Whether you’re filled with anticipation or wrestling with doubt, my prayer is that this episode will encourage your heart that God’s promises are true and His love is unwavering. Hope has come, and His name is Emmanuel—God with us.

1. Have you ever felt like God has forgotten you? Take a moment to reflect on His promise to work all things together for your good and His glory. How does this truth bring comfort to your heart today?

2. Hope is the confident assurance of what is yet to come, rooted in God’s unchanging promises. Are you struggling to find hope right now? What is one burden you can lay at His feet, trusting Him to carry it as you rest in His eternal goodness and faithfulness?

3. Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus as your Savior and Lord? If not, are you ready to surrender your life to Him, exchanging your doubts and fears for a new life filled with unshakable hope, lasting joy, and perfect peace? If so, take a moment to pray and invite Him into your heart as your living hope.

4. If you already know the life-transforming hope of Jesus Christ, who in your life might need to hear about this indescribable gift? This Christmas season, ask God to show you someone you can share the hope and joy found in Christ.

My friend, if you prayed to receive Christ as your personal Savior and Lord, celebrate. Tell someone that you have just been given the best Christmas gift of all—the gift of Jesus!

Welcome to the Abide podcast. I’m so grateful you’re here as we begin this special Advent series, a time to pause and reflect on the miracle of Christmas. Over the next few weeks, we’ll explore love letters from God—words of hope, peace, joy, and love—straight from His heart to yours.

God has drawn you here with purpose, to remind you of His goodness and His faithful presence in every season. So slow down with me, quiet your heart, and let these words reach the tender places of your soul.

I pray that through this devotion, you’ll feel the touch of God’s deep, abiding love for you. Together, let’s find reasons to be grateful—even if our gratitude is wrapped in tears and whispered through our struggles. Let Him turn our hearts toward thankfulness and trust in His unchanging goodness.

Is love a fruit, a person, a divine attribute, or God?

"The answer is a resounding YES! Yes, love is at the heart of everything God is and calls us to be. In this episode, we’re diving deep into a four-part look at how love, as a fruit of the Spirit, is the core from which all other fruit gains nourishment. Love is God’s very essence—His character, His presence, His everything summed up in one powerful word.

While it’s impossible to capture the fullness of God’s love in one devotion, we can begin to explore its depths through four unique aspects. We’ll use L.O.V.E. as our guide, each letter revealing more of who God is and why love is the ultimate fruit we’re invited to grow within and give generously to others. So, let’s settle in and discover why love truly is the quintessential fruit of a life rooted in the Spirit."

1. How do you express love in a way that reflects the Spirit of God who has nurtured it within you? 
2. Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.” Is there someone you know and love who is living in darkness? How can you shine the light of Christ that is in you to help guide them out of darkness and into the glorious light and love of Jesus?
3. Spend time with Emmanuel. Respond to whatever the Light has revealed and offer up a prayer of repentance and thanksgiving.

In this devotional episode of the Abide podcast, we reflect on the transformative work of God as our Divine Gardener. John 15:1 reminds us that God lovingly prunes the branches of our lives so that we can bear the spiritual fruit that glorifies Him—love, joy, peace, and, most beautifully, goodness. But this transformation only happens through the work of the Holy Spirit.

We live in a culture where time and productivity are of the highest value. Rarely is being still, pausing for times of reflection or meditation encouraged. For that reason, we place ourselves at risk of fatigue, stress, and misguided perspective.

In today's episode of the Abide podcast, we will quiet our busy minds and meditate on one of the most awe-inspiring attributes of God - His omnipotence.  The word omnipotence speaks to the all-powerful nature of God- there's nothing He cannot do. 1. Consider a specific relationship or situation where you struggle to show gentleness. Spend time in the company of Jesus and ask Him to help you cultivate a more gentle and compassionate heart.

2. Proverbs 16:24 says, Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. 

• Who in your life needs to experience the gentleness of Christ through your words or actions?

3. Consider the company you keep. Do they promote a spirit of gentleness in you, if not, what might need to change?

Biblically, grace is defined as God's unmerited favor and kindness towards humanity. It is a gift that cannot be earned by good deeds or human effort but is freely given by God out of His love and mercy. Grace is foundational to the Christian faith, as it is through grace that salvation is offered to sinners. 

How then are we to live by a posture of grace toward those we love, those we serve, those who are strangers, and most importantly towards ourselves? In this episode, we're going to explore the different ways grace has influenced and shaped our lives over the years.  We will share the ups and downs as well as the joy and challenges that are a part of learning how to live from a posture of grace. 

For further study, consider studying the following passages to help build your understanding of the characteristics that are forged by cultivating a posture of grace.

1.Humility: Recognizing our own need for grace and responding with humility in our interactions with others. This involves putting others’ needs before our own and being willing to serve without seeking recognition.

•Philippians 2:3: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves.”

2.Forgiveness: Extending forgiveness freely to others, understanding that we have been forgiven much by God.

•Colossians 3:13: “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

3.Compassion: Showing love and empathy towards others, especially those who are suffering or in need.

•Ephesians 4:32: “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”

4.Generosity: Being willing to give of our time, resources, and love without expecting anything in return, reflecting the generous grace of God.

•2 Corinthians 9:8: “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

5.Patience and Peacefulness: Maintaining a peaceful and patient attitude, even in difficult circumstances, and striving to live in harmony with others.

•Romans 12:18: “If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.”

Although self-control is listed last among the fruit of the Spirit, it is no less important than the others. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22) - collectively they represent the characteristics of a life rooted in Christ. Each one is vital to the life-shaping & sanctifying process that reflects the character of Christ in us.

In this episode, you will see how self-control is not an isolated virtue but interdependent with others.  Self-control is foundational in that it supports and enhances all other aspects of a godly life. Ultimately, self-control is the anchor that keeps us steady, the boundary that guards our hearts, and the strength that helps us persevere.

Scripture collectively teaches that humility is a central virtue lived out and marked by a healthy understanding of one's posture towards God and others.  Micah 6:8 says, "He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God."

"One thing I have asked of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in His temple.”

This verse has become a cornerstone of my faith. It speaks to the deep longing in my heart to be close to God, to live in His presence, and to find my joy in Him. The desire to dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life has guided my decisions, my priorities, and my relationship with God. It has taught me the value of seeking His presence, trusting Him more than the fear I feel, and waiting on Him in the midst of the trial or pain. 

When faced with fear, our instinct often turns toward self-preservation. Fear can trigger a response where we seek to take control to avoid pain, loss, or discomfort. In this episode, we will walk through the verses of this Psalm to see what we can learn from David.

As a child, I often marveled at the eclectic collection of items tucked away in the corners of our home. My parents seemed to possess an uncanny ability to find value in the seemingly mundane — from old gift boxes to used ziplock bags and even scraps of wood salvaged from past projects. At first, I couldn't understand why they held onto these things with such tenacity. It wasn't until I grew older that I learned the deeper meaning behind their actions.

 In this episode, Psalm 121 invites us to reflect on where we place our trust in times of trial. Just as my parents looked beyond the material possessions to find security, the psalmist lifted his eyes to the hills, recognizing that true help comes from the Creator of heaven and earth.

The jealousy referenced by God in this passage differs significantly from the everyday "green-eyed monster" often associated with the term today. When we use the term "jealousy," we typically refer to coveting something possessed by another that we lack ourselves. However, in today's episode, we will see that God's jealousy is not rooted in a desire for something He lacks, but rather in our failure to give Him what rightfully belongs to Him - our worship, praise, adoration, and honor.

Guilt and sin are inseparable companions, akin to bread and butter or cake and ice cream. One hardly exists without the other. Guilt, that internal pang, is Satan's tool that plagues all people. What better word is there than ‘rock’ to represent God’s permanence, protection, and enduring faithfulness? Rocks have served as markers, monuments, and memorials throughout history that testify and lay claim to stories of both victory and defeat over thousands of years.  In this episode, you'll find hope because as you pray to Yahweh Tsuri, you can trust that you are praying to the LORD who sees you, knows you, and will fight to protect you. El Roi -A Hebrew name we only see once in the Old Testament. Elohim, the Hebrew name for God appears in the very first sentence of our Bible. His ancient name holds within it all creative power, authority, and sovereignty. This name of God is used more than 2,500 times to emphasize the majesty of Him as the One True God. We all know what it’s like to be thirsty to the point of dehydration. But what about desperation to the point of death? To be so thirsty that you set out on a journey in hopes of finding whatever will quench your “thirst” in order to live another day. God is able! Whatever you face today or in the future, you can trust Him.  Are you stuck, left spinning your wheels in a situation or relationship and you don't know what to do? Everyone loves a good story.  My favorites are ones with heroes, villains sinners, and saints.  Actually, these are our stories, yours and mine. God’s relentless pursuit of us as sinners never ceases to amaze me. The labyrinth of sin and flesh that entangles us is impossible to escape, yet by God’s glorious grace Christ enters into our web of chaos and calls us out of darkness and into His glorious light. When was the last time you intentionally slowed down long enough to soak in the comforting words of Scripture?  Learning to drink deep from the well of God's Word is a discipline we all could use a little practice in doing.  Get comfortable friend, turn off your phone, and dim the lights. Give yourself permission to step away from whatever task you are doing and settle into this beautiful meditation on Psalm 46.

 Fear or failure can often be the culprits that will override our desire or excitement to step out and try something new.  In today's episode, Amanda and Gretchen talk about their decision to launch the Abide podcast. When was the last time you slowed down or took a day off of work just to rest? Everyone needs time to refresh and renew both physically and spiritually. Life has a way of keeping us over-committed and busy. We often move from one transition in life to the next without even taking a break. Incorporating moments to rest with Jesus is essential.
