What does logistics look like in a world shaped by AI, data and automation?

From Interior Architecture to MedTech: Designing a More Inclusive Future with Paris Triantis

What does a career look like when creativity, technology and purpose collide?

In this episode of Careers in the Age of AI, we explore how one creative pathway unexpectedly led into the world of medtech, inclusive design and emerging technologies.

Paris began her journey studying interior architecture, initially planning to become a registered architect. But an honours experience working with physicists at CERN in Geneva shifted everything. Suddenly, design was not just about buildings - it was about solving complex human problems through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Today, Paris works at MedTech Victoria at Swinburne, where she collaborates with researchers, designers, engineers and people with lived experience to develop solutions that improve accessibility, healthcare and assistive technologies.

Kim Ellis Hayes, is a true luminary in the fields of International Law and Space Research. Her remarkable journey from a background in metals, mining, and mineral processing to becoming a Space Research professional and International Lawyer is nothing short of inspiring.

This episode is for final year students. Whilst I am based in Melbourne much of this advice on how to approach the application process and preferences is universal.

In this episode, we speak to Ash Beeby a qualified Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic, VET champion and writer (she is currently writing her Sci-fi novel, writes on her blog https://ashleybeeby.com and recently published an article about her career journey). 

She provides greater detail about her career journey as someone who had never considered a career in a trade, to now with her role as a heavy vehicle mechanic.  How despite achieving a 95 ATAR knew that an apprenticeship was the right pathway for her.  

So many great takeaways for students, parents and educators on the importance of giving things a go, taking opportunities and keeping an open mind about career possibilities.

In this episode I get a little 'fired up' about the over emphasis on the subjects we do at school and our career.  Yes they can certainly have an impact particularly on our very first step after school, but it is more of the fact that our school subjects are referenced by many throughout their career as a defining factor in our career journey.  

Now if you are happy in your career and your school subjects are a positive reference ~ then great!

However, I am talking about those that often use their High School experience as a reason they are not pursuing what they really want to. For current students this is also an episode to acknowledge that decisions that are made now, although important, are not forever.
