I received a priority call about 10:00 PM Saturday night.  It seems that with the recent storms and power outages, the main HVAC unit at a local church was not working.  My friend was understandably concerned and he knew I was familiar with their system.

We started looking at possible causes.  It was rather toasty with the inside temp being close to 80 F and no air movement.  We checked various parts of the system and, in the process, cycled power to the air handler.  We realized that the reset was effective in bringing the system back up and we started testing it.

The event was wholly enjoyable but time consuming.  As we waited for different parts of the system to activate, we told stories and compared life experiences.  Casey and I were both hot with sweat dripping into our eyes as we felt the cool air start to circulate.  It was then that I chuckled under my breath at the realization that, due to the heat, Like most sinners, I was sweating profusely … in church.

I'm still trying to figure out why America allowed hundreds of thousands of immigrants to enter our country, knowing that the culture they were from was poison to our culture. But we brought them in and now they're here. 

I recently saw Somali influencers say, "Why would you mention the word Somali in connection with someone who committed a crime? A crime is a crime. You don't have to say the word Somali." 

I took exception to that. Last week a Somali bought a gun, lots of ammunition, and planned to kill dozens of people. Happily, he was caught, and the news people did say he was Somali. 

But doesn't it seem to you that 99% of Somalians are giving the other 1% a bad reputation?

A friend and I had a good laugh when his ten-year-old son asked his dad for a new car. I don't think the kid knew that that was impractical and, since he was only ten, he was too immature to even have a car. 

Last week I saw where the White House Council of Economic Advisers counted up the cost of the programs that the Democrat Socialists of America wanted. What will those programs cost us? $52.8 trillion over the next eight years! Not only that, the DSA wants to abolish the police and the prison system. The DSA is like that ten-year-old kid. Every free promise they have comes back as a higher mortgage rate, a bigger tax bill, a smaller paycheck, and a deadlier street. 

Seems the people who would vote for Democrat Socialists have the maturity of a ten-year-old.

Do you remember Joe Biden's incoherent speeches when he would always add, "America's worst enemy is white supremacy!!" I really got tired of that. I don't know any white supremacists, and I don't think he did either. But I wonder how many people of all races had their lives and careers turned upside down. after the race-grifting Southern Poverty Law Center. 

The leader of my mission group that works with the poorest of the poor in Africa was labeled by the SPLC as a hater. Why? Because in an interview he said "a marriage should be between one man and one woman." It didn't matter that he was serving people from all races and religions, and providing free medical care. My first job required that I work closely with my counterparts at other facilities around the state.

There was one man that I never met but talked to frequently; partly because our work required it and partly because we became friends over the phone.  As the project closed down, I moved on to a new company.

Soon after starting the new job, I flew to Germany to help with a machine.  The trip was a success and, at the end of the week, I headed back to the busy airport in Frankfurt for my flight home.

While waiting to board, I was approached by a man who noticed the logo of the old company on my jacket.  In English he explained that he had worked for that company and asked if I had worked there too.  As we talked and shared more information, some things he said sounded familiar. 

We both suddenly burst into laughter when we realized that WE were the guys who had spoken so many times before over the phone. We finally met face to face in Germany.

We-re hearing now that AI is gonna kill us. It reminds me back in the late 19th century when Thomas Edison was at war against Nikola Tesla. Edison advocated for DC to recur, which flows in one direction and it was the standard in the early days of electricity. Tesla developed AC, alternating current, which reverses directions millions of times a second. Edison launched campaigns to discredit AC, claiming it was dangerous. He conducted public demonstrations where he electrocuted animals to illustrate his point, that he lacked scientific backing. Today, both currents coexist. AC remains the dominant form for power distribution. Well, DC is essential for modern electronics. But the people involved in this battle, like Bernie Sanders, he doesn't even know how to operate a comb. Maybe Bernie should ask AI.

My sister recently posted a picture of our family proudly displaying an old McCormick-Deering threshing machine at a local Steam Meet.  The photo shows a clear day with my sisters perched on the old machine and dressed in straw hats and overalls.  I can be seen as a 16 year old driving the Farmall H into the parade line.

The photo looked quaint and nostalgic, but as I looked, I remembered the work it took to get the machine ready and the back road trip from the farm to the event.  For us kids, the thrill of showing that antique machine was thrilling at the time, but I am also sure that the older folks who actually used them saw something completely different!

Seeing old machines in a parade or the photos of that are a wonderfully clear way to remember the past, but they also can remind you of how much life has changed.  When that photo was taken, I could not have foreseen walking through a rice field in Kohalpur, Nepal…

In my home state of Virginia, we have three amendments to the Constitution that we're going to vote on. They're all bad, but the most egregious is the one on abortion. Any stage in the pregnancy? For any reason. "My body? My choice." 

Reminded me of ancient Rome. I was reading an account, I think it was by Pliny the Elder. The Roman Senate was debating on whether a man could kill his wife and children. (patria potestas) In the debate, the Senator stood up and said, "My children, my wife. Who can tell me that I can't kill MY wife and MY children?" 

It seems history repeats itself, especially here in Virginia. And after the Lindsay Clancy case where her mother strangled her three children and the jury couldn't even decide whether it was murder. If we vote yes on the abortion amendment, we know where it's heading: patria potestas

The word "disdain." The Democrat Party disdains so many things, but now it's bordering on pure naked hatred. 

What are those things? And here's attorney Diane Gruber. Can the American people truly call ourselves civilized? The Maori cannibals of New Zealand used two methods to kill their newborns. They strangled them with their bare hands because they didn't have access to exercise bands like Clancy did in modern-day Massachusetts. Can you imagine how her hands must have ached by the time she finished strangling three children? Successful strangling would have taken at least five minutes each. Another method the Maoris used to kill their babies was poking a stick into the soft spot at the top of the baby's skull, similar to how abortion doctors scrambled the baby's brains during partial birth abortions. After Christians arrived, the Maoris abandoned both cannibalism and the killing of newborns.

9-11, 2001. I was in my office working with my secretary Liz. My wife JoAnne called me and she said, "George, turn on your TV, turn on your TV.!"

I turned it on and one of the Trade Center towers was on fire. An announcer said that the trade center had just been hit. And then another plane right in front of our eyes hit the other tower. I said, "Liz, we're at war. I don't know with whom, but we're at war." One of my employer's subsidiaries was housed there and I prayed for their escape. I fretted about that that day, lost in disbelief.

The next day I found out that all my friends had gotten out! About three months later, I was at a charity golf event and the president of the company there that was at the trade center.  I asked, "What happened, John?" 

He said, "I was sitting at my desk planning the day and suddenly the building shook. I saw kinds of debris falling from the building. And then I got a message from the New York Port Authority. All the managers and CEOs in the World Trade Center, we have this box on our desk. And the man from the Port Authority said, "Your building has just been hit by a small airplane. (Of course, we found out later that was a big jet airliner.) But the voice said, "Standard operating procedure is now in place. Stay where you are. Help is on its way up." 

I said, "Obviously, you didn't do that, John." He said, "no, I pushed a button that went to every phone of our 1,000 people there. I said, 'This is John. Our building is in danger. I'm leaving. I'll be out in one minute. If you're on video after I've left, your career here is over. I swear to God, you're fired. Anybody who's here after I leave that door.' A lot of the others had heard from the Port Authority to stay where they were. But when they heard they were going to get fired, they all left."

 I said, "John, that was heroic. You saved everybody."

He said, "No, not really. We had to take stairs all the way down. You couldn't use the elevators. And when I try to go to sleep at night, all I can see are the faces of those beautiful young men on their way up to rescue us. And it's hard. I can hardly keep from crying every night I go to bed. I'll never forgive the Muslims for what they did to us. We invited them into our country, and we're still inviting them into our country. And they're coming to destroy us. I'll never forgive them." 

So that's my take on 9-11. We've invited people in whose total intention was to destroy us. And we have to stop this. Are we in a slow-motion suicide? It appears we are.

I have a friend who is a disabled vet and who suffers from a myriad of conditions.  His medical situation has been chaotic and he is currently hospitalized.  Between bringing him things he needs or just visiting, I have spent more time than I like in hospitals lately.

I was over to visit yesterday and brought him a new laptop.  The weather was hot and humid and I broke out in sweat carrying the bags into the hospital.  We visited for several hours and I got the new laptop working well for him.

As the evening progressed, it was time to leave and I again trudged out to the car, fighting the late afternoon’s near tropical conditions.  As I drove out, I passed a little ice cream shop where you park, order the refreshment and eat it on the outdoor tables.  To my delight, they offered shaved ice with my favorite Lemon-Lime flavoring.  Excitedly, I walked up to the window and placed my order only to be informed that the shaved ice machine broke earlier in the day.

The Democrat governor from my home state of Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, was just caught in a big fat lie when he accused Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. of being responsible for the deaths of two kids who died of measles. One of the deaths was a little baby who died of a ruptured spleen at the birthing center. The coroner said measles had nothing to do with it. The other supposed death, Shapiro wouldn't even name. I remember during COVID when he said a motorcyclist died of COVID when he actually had died in a motorcycle wreck. Are the people of Pennsylvania too stupid to figure out this is not a man that should be in office, let alone run for our presidency? Republican Senator John Kennedy of Louisiana said "Republicans have faults, but Democrats are just plain crazy!" We just saw this in California again. Republican Senator Suzette Valladares wanted a law that people convicted of sex crimes against minors can't seek public office, including school board seats. She said, "Right now in California, someone convicted of sexually abusing a child can still sit on your school board. That's not a loophole. That's a choice. And in my perspective, that's wrong." The California Senate Democrats rejected it and perverts will be on the school board. I guess what bothers me the most about Democrats in California is California's Christians stay home on election day and allow all this to happen.

Accused to murder her, Lindsay Clancy, who strangled her three children, is on trial. Lindsay received over one million dollars from GoFundMe, most of it from sympathetic ladies who understand why a mother would strangle her three children. It reminds me of a case when I was 10 years old. 24 year old Constance Fisher drowned her three children in a bathtub. She was spared from prison despite the horrible crime that she committed. She went to a mental hospital and after five years was released back to her marriage and they had three more children. In 1967, she drowned those other three children and she went back to the hospital. These two cases are so similar. Mothers killing all their children and ladies sympathizing with them.

I was talking with a friend recently who is struggling financially.  They are down to one income and are doing their best to balance the situation against their own needs and wants.  Darrel was lamenting a tough decision he had to make last year and was questioning the logic of that move.

In  my 40 years of professional life, one of the most frequent problems I see is the inability of people to make decisions.  They either try to please everyone or fail to take the best facts they have and, many times, they fail to do anything.  I understand the fear of being wrong, but I also understand the challenges of being indecisive.

I always told my interns, using the best information you have at the time, do not be afraid to make a decision.  If you find out later that the decision needs modification, then change it.  Leaders cannot always wait for the most ideal conditions, but failing to make that decision leaves you and the team you are leading, directionless.

She was born in West Virginia in 1913.  I still remember us having long talks about them getting indoor plumbing, moving food from the springhouse to their new refrigerator or the Model T fighting its way up the snow-covered mountain pass in Winter.

As a boy in the 80s, I thought her stories were amazing since I had all the “modern” conveniences and could only muse over life in a “simpler day”.

Here I am in 2026 writing this program on a laptop.  It will be sent via Internet and radio around the world, evaluated by AI algorithms and offered to ESL classes on six continents…

I lost my Grandmother in 2008, but aside from that smiling picture, this story about her amazing life and her living legacy in me will travel the globe.  A feat she could not even have imagined.

Human beings have always searched for ways to soften the connection between cause and effect. In the Bible, John chapter 5 verse 6, Jesus asked the man at the pole of Bethesda, Do you want to be healed? I always wondered about that. Who wouldn't want to be healed? But that question was designed to make that man reflect on his own desire and readiness for change. I've encountered the same homeless people where every agency involved can document that they did something.Someone made contact, did an assessment, handed out a brochure, entered the person's name into a database. But then weeks later, person's on the same sidewalk. It's one of the big failures of the homeless system.It rewards activity, not results. Government agencies and nonprofits regularly publish reports filled with impressive numbers. They count outreach visits, meals served, but they don't show that anybody escaped homelessness.

After a day’s layover, we boarded the 747 in Frankfurt for the overnight trip to Johannesburg.  By now, I was a seasoned traveler, so the trip was exciting, but I was also anxious about what to expect in South Africa.  I knew so little about the continent, but I had high expectations of semi-arid savannah and exotic wildlife.

The flight out of Germany was uneventful as I ate the evening meal.  Soon after, I settled in and enjoyed the view of city lights inching past us some 35,000 feet below.  I dozed off and awoke sometime later to resume my night time scenery watching.

Instead of the lights of civilization, there were only moonlit, rolling clouds lit by occasional, distant flashes of lightning. There, suspended in the quiet dark high over Africa, an old song crept into my mind. I found myself smiling in the dark, quietly blessing the rains down in Africa—some of life's best adventures begin simply by looking out the window.

A few years ago, there was a television sitcom, Just Shoot Me. Seems like a strange name for a sitcom, but I think we have another name for Just Shoot Me. "Queers for Palestine." That is, the homosexual community is supporting Palestine in Palestine's fight against Israel. Don't American queers know what happens to queers in Palestine? Maybe they haven't been watching the news. In Islamic countries, queers are killed. But that isn't just in Arab countries. Last week in Berlin, a car driven by an Islamist drove through a crowd of homosexuals, killed two, and injured several more. Christians are being pilloried for asking homosexuals to leave their destructive lifestyle and embrace Jesus.

In 1983, Congress passed a law that official retirement age will be 67 and that will begin this November. A lot of people are upset with that because they want to retire sooner than that. As for me, I'm 82 and I still work full time. Why? Because I love my job and my clients, my clients love me, and this is fun. But the thing is, Social Security ran out of money long ago. Congress has been using the funds there as their slush fund. And we've been using our retirement money for every stupid thing we could think of because it was there. But I do feel bad for those who have to wait to age 67 because we didn't have to wait. In the 1970s and on into the 1980s, the world was astounded and disgusted to learn that East Germany was using men in the women's competitions at the Olympics. Those men were given female hormones so that they would grow breasts and take on features of women, but they were still men. And they were winning gold medals as women. It was decided that all athletes would be checked for their chromosomes. Were they XX or XY? We discovered that the women were actually men. Common sense took over back then. We knew that God didn't design women to compete against men. So why is it that we have to go back again for such a fundamental and easy choice? And why would sane people even give an audience to those who disagree with this fundamental thing?!

95% of voting-age Muslims in America vote. 25% of voting-age Christians in America vote. What does that say about Christians? What does that say about Muslims? Tragically, a whole lot. A few weeks ago, I received a call from a longtime friend. He knows I am an engineer, and he had an old radio that had stopped working. It wasn't just any radio; it was a meticulously designed, high-end piece of equipment that had been silent for years. In the 1980's and 1990's people around the world paid $1,400 for each unit!

His plan was to order a new amplifier and replace the original board, but I cautioned him about the challenge of matching custom speakers of a vintage design. Within a few hours, I had identified a suitable replacement, and we got together in his shop to install it. The moment we fired up the radio, it produced sound again, the air in the room seemed to change.

On the way home, I reflected some. Helping him restore that radio combined 40 years of engineering experience into a deeply rewarding afternoon. We all have skills that, when used to serve others, pay off in surprising ways. It's now the politically correct false history of America. Back where I grew up, my old shop in the barn still reminds me of something out of an Indiana Jones movie.  Today, it is filled with cobwebs and inventions from 50 years ago, but in the early 80’s, it was amazing.

The neighborhood kids and I used to organize capture the flag events with as many as 20 kids.  My shop served as a “Command Center” where my friend and I used maps and radios to track the battle.  One day, I hatched this plan to add Estes Rockets to the game.

Using old TTL Logic chips, I built a Ground Launch Sequencer to automatically launch the rocket after my friend and I simultaneously turned our Launch Keys and the sequencer reached 0 on the countdown.  If the rocket landed close to someone in the battle, they were out of the game.

Today, I use the old sequencer as a prop when I talk to school classes, but, back then, the device was a novelty that was most certainly not inspired by either TikTok or AI!

We are now in the summer season.  If the weather permits, some weekends we will have the neighbors over and show movies on the lawn.  As Summer has settled in, the heat and humidity are just not conducive to that, so we all do what we need to do outside and retreat back into the houses for comfort.

Last week, our area set records and the heat index was around 110 F.  One evening, I was out front watering plants when I heard Misty and Zack coming across the lawn.  As I looked up, I burst out laughing when I saw them carrying my portable stove.  Of all the days to remind me of Winter heating, returning the stove while I was dripping sweat was poetic justice at its height!

Whenever we go out to eat, I notice that restaurants are full. And I love hearing that restaurants are busy. That tells me our economy is doing well. If it weren't, people wouldn't pay $25 for a plate of spaghetti. But they just wouldn't do that. Yes, I realize that many of those diners are using plastic to pay for their pasta. But still, if you can afford to eat out, no matter how you're paying for it, our economy is doing well. We had credit cards in the old days, but eating out was rare. On a special occasion, it wasn't several times a week. Hearing that people are frequently in restaurants, that tells me they can afford to pay for the gas to get there. Yeah, gas has become more expensive because of the Iran war. But it's a lot less when brain-dead Biden was running the show. In some places, it was $7 a gallon. I rarely heard anyone, especially not the Democrats, whining about the price of gas then.

At the midpoint of the year, the Chief Engineer approached me about filling HIS SHOES when he graduated in the Spring.  I was excited and nervous, but he assured me he would teach me what I needed to know and that a sophomore COULD run the engineering of the station.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, SPLC, was founded in 1971. It called itself a non-profit civil rights organization dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry and seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society. SPLC has found that increasing racial tensions is really profitable. In 2016, SPLC had $51 million. In 2017, that had grown to $133 million. Why? Because of the Unite the Right Rally in Charlottesville, which the SPLC funded. It only cost SPLC $260,000 to fund Unite the Right, but they got back roughly $80 million in return. SPLC is really good at making money by creating hate.

Last week, Senator Jim Banks introduced the Citizenship Act of 2026 to end birthright citizenship for children of illegal aliens and birth tourists. This will deny automatic citizenship to children born to unauthorized entrants or those engaging in birth tourism. Since 2000, over 8 million births were to unauthorized immigrant mothers. Pew Research data shows that roughly 300,000 such births in 2023 were 9% of all U.S. births. Those births have a staggering cost, 69 billion annually in education expenses, and since the year 2000, 1.5 trillion in education costs alone. This money is being taken from U.S. citizens.

I am enjoying a relatively peaceful evening which is rare.  I have settled in with a good video and have a bowl of Pistachio nuts that I am shelling.  My calm evening was just interrupted as a thought came to me suddenly.

Growing up, if I wanted to know about a Saturn 5 rocket or how a boiler worked, finding the answer required the next trip to Grandmother’s house in town.  I would seek out her encyclopedia and, assuming I remembered the question, I would begin searching.  Is that rocket under “R” for rocket … or “S” for Saturn 5?

Sometimes, I would write a list of things I wanted to look up and would spend hours flipping through topics I was curious about, but it was ALL manual!

As I recalled those days, I laughed as I sat back in my chair, formulated my question and pressed the call button on my Bluetooth. I asked the friendly AI voice on my phone, “How are Pistachio nuts dried and prepared?”.  Within seconds, I learned something new…

Hello, this is George Caylor, TeaWithGeorge.com, and today's session of Get Real is with my dear old friend, Dr. Kevin Clauson. As far as intellect is concerned, I've always considered there's Kevin Clauson, and then there's the rest of us. He is an encyclopedia of history, of constitution, of theology, of common sense, and I don't find that much out there in the world like I used to.

Common sense. Welcome, Kevin Clauson to the show. Do I need to call you doctor? No, you do not.

Good, because I wasn't anyway. We're just old friends. Kevin, I know a town that's run by a city manager, and I'm very familiar with the town by the way, won't say where it is, and the city manager has become unaccountable.

In fact, members of the city council of that town wanted the books audited, see where the money goes, see where, well, the town is paying him around $300,000 a year to make decisions. But he said, no, I'm not going to tell you. And the mayor of the town said, okay, let's not make trouble.

The city council members who did want to make trouble by finding out where the money's going have been blasted as non-cooperative, troublemakers, and everything else. So city managers, why is that sometimes not a good idea? You're more familiar with this than almost anybody in America. So talk to us.

This is typical of city manager forms of government, which make up about two thirds of the cities and towns in America. The rest are either a strong mayor or a city commission form of government. But the city manager form took off in the early 20th century based on the ideas of people like of all people, Woodrow Wilson, who had been a president, but of course, and a governor.

But before that, he had been a professor at Princeton University of Political Science. And he basically invented, as it were, modern public administration. The problem is that modern public administration is very bureaucratic.

It's made to be bureaucratic. Wilson believed in the governing or governance by experts. He believed that, yes, the people could vote for their leaders, just the top leaders, nobody else.

Vote for their leaders, and then the leaders can appoint these managers, these experts, and leave everything else to the experts. Government by experts was what he believed in. And he practiced it when he was governor of New Jersey.

He practiced it when he was president, especially during World War I. But the idea grew and made its way into city governments in America, starting in the 1920s in America, and spread from there. The idea was to keep politics out of government. Well, the problem is you can't keep politics out of government.

Government is about politics. Politics is about policy. And you can't separate the two without actually handing over the policy-making, decision-making to somebody else, besides the elected representatives.

And this is the problem. The city manager for government involves a part-time city council, low paid. They defer to the city manager.

The city manager is the full-time expert, highly paid, has a staff, you know, highly paid staff that works for him, basically. And the city council just kind of sits back and says, oh, well, we don't know these things. We're not experts like he is.

So what can we do? We'll just hire the city manager and let him run the city. He becomes the de facto mayor of the city. But he's unelected and unaccountable except for the city council.

But remember, the city council is part-time, low paid. They don't have an incentive to kind of monitor the city manager closely. They can't.

And he has every incentive to hide things, as it were. He may not always hide them intentionally, but he hides them because he's the expert. He's the guy paid the big bucks.

He's the guy who really runs the city. Kevin, this reminds me of the American government itself, the Deep State. We elect presidents.

We elect congressmen and senators. But who runs the country? The Deep State. And they are unaccountable.

I remember when I ran a company in Germany, I had several general officers who found out that I was a financial planner and a wealth manager. They asked if I would be their financial planner. And one of the generals, he was going to retire within about a month.

He said, is there anything I can do for you while I'm still a general? He said, yes, you have a GS-10, government service worker, 10, in your department that is so totally corrupt and incapable of making any good decisions. Could you have him shot? He laughed. And he said, well, no, we can't have people shot anymore.

And he said, George, I am a three-star general and I can't even have him fired. I can't have a GS-2 fired. He said, we don't have power.

If a general officer can't do that about one of the Deep State GS-10s, no wonder that we have the problems we have. What else is going on with the city manager type of government that makes things, they're unaccountable. They can spend money without even thinking about being, is this a good deal for the city or not? What else? Well, one of the things that's very common in these city manager forums is the city manager will kind of give favors to certain city councilmen.

They may be little favors, they may be bigger favors in order to entice them to support him and his agenda. Now, he may try to do that with all of them. If it doesn't work with all of them, that's fine.

As long as he gets a majority, he's okay. You know what you just said, it is that in the city. I'm thinking of, so you just hit the nail on the head.

So yeah, go on. I'm sorry. Yeah, no, it's very common.

It's very common that way. He stays in power. Most people don't think of him having power, but he has a lot more power than the elected city councilman do because the majority of city councils that he is councilman, he's favored are going to let him get away with anything because he's the expert.

He's the guy paid the big bucks. Here's a challenging question, I think, at least in America. We have a system of government, which involves, at least in theory, separation of powers and checks and balances.

Why is it that in two thirds of American cities, we've thrown that in the trash can? We don't have a system of separation of powers and checks and balances in a city manager form of government. We have a bureaucratic, top-down, expert-run system of government, unaccountable, unelected. Why is it we do this on the national level, the separation of powers, checks and balances, and the state level, but then when it comes to the local level, we want to be run by bureaucrats.

Why is that? Well, way back in the beginning, it was because we thought we could take politics out of policymaking. Remember that? I said that earlier. That's just not going to happen.

It never happens. You replace one person's policy with another. In other words, you replace the city manager's politics with the city council's politics.

As I said, he becomes a de facto mayor of the city, unelected, unaccountable, but nonetheless, de facto mayor of the city. The media seems to prefer the city manager and they blast the city council members, thinking of that same city again, blast those city council members that they think are troublemakers, wanting that city manager to be held accountable for his spending. We don't even know what he's spending on in that town I'm thinking of.

Yeah, well, see, the media is laboring under a severe delusion. And here's the delusion. The city manager is above politics.

The city council is all about politics, but the city manager is above politics. That's just crazy. It's not true.

It never has been true. It's his politics that's ruling the day because he has the real power, the real power. On paper, the city council can fire him, but will they? No, not as long as he controls.

I put the word controls in quotes. As long as he controls enough city councilmen, they will not fire him. They'll let him get away with what he wants to get away with.

And this is true in city council systems all over the country. Not just conservative and liberal. No, it's everywhere.

You would think that a conservative city that usually votes red would not allow the deep state, so to speak, to be their government in their town. Well, on our federal level, we have. And right now, our government's controlled by Republicans on the executive side and the legislative side.

And yet, we still have the deep state. We still have bureaucratic government from top to bottom. In our national government.

And even in conservative states, we have it in state governments, too, conservative states. These bureaucracies get in place, and then they never go away. They never disappear.

I was talking to my sister and listened as she explained how visitors to the World Cup events were surprised at the hospitality they received in the US.  As we talked, she commented that apparently Ranch Dressing has been a surprise hit as well.

Globally, this hospitality is more common than not, though.  In all the places I visited worldwide, I was always welcomed and met wonderful local people who would invite me to their homes for meals or take me to some of the landmarks in the area.  Some of these people I now consider as extended family and we still visit each other as we can.

There is so much wrong in the world today, at least that is the impression we get from various sources.  Maybe I was just lucky to meet so many wonderful people, but my sister and I agreed that if our respective dogma were removed, people are, for the most part, more good than bad.

This, however, does not change the fact that I prefer Thousand Island over Ranch on MY salad!

It didn't take long for the New York communists elected by a 19% Democrat voter turnout to whine about our Electoral College. Hillary charmed in, still bitter about her 2016 defeat when she won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College vote. She said "the Electoral College is an abomination." We had the Electoral College because the rural and small-town residents make up less than 20% of the population and they wouldn't have any voice on who's to be our president. Only the voice is the big city dwellers and suburbanites would be heard in selecting a president and they don't share the values with the rest of America. And with the Electoral College, they can't rule us. And do you think that that's perhaps why the socialists, communists, and Democrats hate the Electoral College so much?

There's a saying, "America will not lose itself because Islam conquered it. It will lose itself because its leaders were too frightened, too ignorant, too guilty, and too vain to defend the country that they swore to protect. And because too many of its people were too comfortable, too distracted, and too afraid to demand that they do it. At some point, Americans are going to have to stop pretending."

 For instance, in New York, the candidates backed by Zohan Mandani, with the Democrat Socialists of America, just won their primaries. And they defeated the incumbent Democrat Party candidates. In Texas, we have Pakistan Day in the state capitol. They called it diversity. That's not what Islamists call it. Liberals celebrate the growing Muslim political power as a diversity milestone. There will be no diversity after the Islamist takeover.

When I returned back to the States, I caught up over lunch with a close Vietnamese friend named Tran. He is in his late twenties and very Westernized. We were having a lively discussion, but remembering Nepal, I asked him a direct question: “If you really disagreed with me, would you tell me?”

Tran got quiet. He struggled with the question before hesitantly replying, “Maybe.”

A deep sense of respect is sorely lacking in our society today, and we have much to learn from the East. During that memorable lunch, I realized even a beautiful custom must be tempered. True respect is a two-way street; withholding your honest thoughts out of cultural deference means some of the signal gets lost and the mutual learning experience is constrained.

It seems that 250 years after America was formed, a lot of Americans don't know that the U.S. Constitution, the Declaration of Independence, and the Bill of Rights formed our country. They formed it with restrictions on government powers. All of our rights are established by this document as inalienable natural rights. That means "under the laws of nature and nature's God." It begins with, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they're endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights. And among these, life, liberty, and the  pursuit of happiness." 

These rights don't come from presidents or kings or charters or congress. These rights are given to us by God and secured by our founding documents.

When it comes to electing politicians who will rule over us? Should those voting be citizens? In other words, should citizens have the right to vote over what happens to us? Or should non-citizens also have that right? Or should non-citizens, including illegal aliens say who will rule over us? Mr. Trump asks that only citizens be allowed to vote. And when they register to vote, they prove citizenship. That's like almost all civilized countries on the Earth. But it appears our country isn't quite so civilized. Federal Judge Denise Casper said, no, he's not allowed to do that. Do you think it's strange that almost all nullifications in the 200 years of federal judges have been against Mr. Trump? And when will Americans be tired of being ruled by unelected federal judges?

America has a problem with obesity. In fact, I looked at the scale this morning, and I weighed 205 pounds, but I'm 82, and I'd like to get that under 200 pounds. But when I see young people that are grossly obese, unhealthy, and sitting around drinking soft drinks, I wonder, what is this coming to? Our Surgeon General, Robert Kennedy, is trying to do something about it. If people are going to be obese, unhealthy, and cost us billions more in medical bills, we shouldn't have to pay for the food that makes them that way. He wanted to stop them from buying sugary, soft drinks with food stamps. But U.S. District Judge Amy Berman ruled against it, because it seems federal judges are against anything that's good for Americans and America.

It seems that Democrats routinely condemn our efforts to get rid of our illegal immigration. But I think it's worth considering what happens around the world. For instance, when you enter other countries illegally, well, take Singapore, I've been there. If you come in illegally, it's six months in prison. With Russia, if you enter there illegally, it's two years in a labor camp. India, eight years in prison. Pakistan, ten years in prison. North Korea, of course, who would want to enter there? But if you do, death penalty. But if you come into Canada or America, what do you get? Free housing, healthcare, education, food, public transport, cell phones, cash. I love that. When I lived in Germany, I noticed that the cathedrals were absolutely gorgeous and empty. No congregations.They had pastors, they had priests, but no congregations. And when I filled out my income tax report, I noticed I could check a box where my tax money would go to the Lutheran Church or the Catholic Church. Well, I saw where the seminaries where they teach the errors of the Bible, and I found that out from pastors themselves that went there.They were learning the errors of the Bible so they could teach their congregations. I asked these three young men one time, they were talking to me about that, and I said, what congregations? I said, you can stay at home to be an agnostic. Why go to the problem of trouble going to church? And I said, here's something you are going to have to remember.Teachers, pastors, are going to be held much more accountable than the rest of us. It seems that you feel that you are going to be held accountable, and I feel the same. You see, before World War II, Adolf Hitler went to the pastors of Germany, and he told them, you preach your little sermons in church, stick to the issues in church, I'll take care of everything everywhere else.And two-thirds of them capitulated, went along with Hitler, either out of fear, or maybe they were in agreement with him. I don't know. One-third became the Confessing Church, led by Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who was murdered, along with several thousand other pastors.But Christianity died in Europe when people saw that Christianity, it had no teeth, it had no practical, if it could not stop the Holocaust, if it could not stop tens of millions of people being killed, which it could have if it had acted. The Nazis were only about three percent of the population if the pastors had acted. But they didn't.Why must pastors in America be different, and how can they be different from the pastors in Germany? Because I haven't seen a whole lot of difference. Evil triumphs when good men do nothing. I think we all probably know that quote.And what I saw during the prior administration from our Supreme Leader, Dr. Anthony Fauci, was a level of insanity that I've never seen or even read about in recent history. And I think the reality is, George, we have so many weak, woke, pathetic pastors today who've totally abdicated their roles as shepherds. They've not done a good job gatekeeping.They've not done a good job of protecting the sheep from the wolves. And you know what I'm talking about? During the summer of love, the mostly peaceful protests during Black Lives Matter, George Floyd dies and it's full stop. It's from the pulpit.Well, we need to examine our inner racism and repent. White people, I'm talking about you. I heard that coming from well-respected evangelical leaders that I looked up to.And then fast forward, Charlie Kirk dies. And from those same leaders, it's, well, you know, he said some really inflammatory things that we just can't ignore. Like, that's what I mean by so many pastors today are total sellouts.They've abdicated their roles. They've abdicated their responsibilities. They're weak.They're woke. They're pathetic. But you know who isn't? You go to Colossians 4, verse 12, a lesser known Bible character named Epaphras.

I’ve always been fascinated by electricity. When I was around ten, my room was less of a bedroom and more of a laboratory. So, when my sisters invited several of their friends for a sleepover, I decided to conduct an... experiment.

I wired nine old fashioned flash cubes in parallel—four bulbs on each cube—and hid them anywhere in their room that I could find a hiding place. I then ran the cable back to my "lab" and waited.

At nine o'clock, the lights went out. I waited for their eyes to adjust to the pitch black, and then... I threw the switch.

A literal nuclear flash erupted. The light was so intense it illuminated the woods behind our house. What followed was pure pandemonium—screams, yelling, and the gnashing of teeth.

My sisters and their friends still talk about that evening to this day and I am sure it will never be forgotten by any of us. To borrow an old phrase, “And Steve said, let there be light, and there WAS light”

President Jimmy Carter once said, "Mail-in voting is a perfect recipe for massive fraud." Mr. Trump is trying to do something about that. His program, "Protecting and preserving the integrity of American elections, ensuring citizenship verification and integrity in federal elections." Its aim is to limit mail-in voting as the vehicle for systematic fraud, and is going to include the post office because the fraud goes through the post office. When I'm driving around, I see bumper stickers on cars that say resist. What does that mean? Resist. And usually, there are Democrat stickers on the car as well, so I'm thinking, I don't see those on the cars that are owned by Republicans or conservatives. In fact, I don't see them on the cars of happy people. So what are Democrats urging you to resist? The big thing they want you to resist is the immigration policies that Mr. Trump has in place. I don't think the policies would be as strict. Mr. Biden had not allowed 20 million illegals into our country, and some estimates are 100 million illegals now live in America permanently. Most of them are great people, making money, paying taxes, raising their families, not committing crimes, but still, they're here illegally

When Mohammed and his hordes of barbaric killers were ravaging North Africa and destroying the Christian churches, the Christians might have prevailed, except for one thing. The Pope had sent his armies to destroy them as well. You see, those Christians were trying to follow God. They were not following the Pope. One of my fondest memories lives in an old photo my mother took when I was in third grade and my sister was in first.  At the end of the year, our school had a field day.  They made it into a celebration of the Bicentennial that year.  We all dressed up in period costumes and the school had a field full of activities and food.  Mom’s photo shows my sister and me posing like two “Angelic” cherubs….

I remember thinking, “the next one will not happen for another 100 years, so I’d best remember this one!”

Here we are 50 years later and gearing up for the country’s 250th birthday.  I am no longer an “Angelic” kid, but I have grandkids who ARE! We never know how events will play out, but thankfully, we have cell phone cameras.  Maybe with some luck, we will have new memorable “Angelic” pictures this year as the United States celebrates its next landmark.

Former President Jimmy Carter headed up a commission that studied mail-in voting, and then they issued a report. They said, "voting by mail is by far the worst thing that could happen to fairness and integrity in the election system." Oregon adopted mail-in voting in 1996, and it was obvious from the very first election thereafter that it was a perfect system for systemic fraud and voters cheating by the Democrat machine in Oregon. Then taking the lead from Carter as a blueprint rather than warning, Washington Democrats quickly followed. Hello, I'm George Caylor, and today's session of "Get Real" is with John Vassar. John is an expert in logistics, military strategy, history, and he's current with almost everything you can think of and a lot of things you haven't thought of.  Well, John, the Iran war has been suspended, let's say, and they're in peace talks. I absolutely don't trust the Iranians. I don't trust the ayatollahs, that is. I don't trust them with anything. They lie. And they, according to the religion, they lie legally, and they lie theologically. And so, the advice, what advice would you give Mr. Trump in this war right now? Well, George, thank you for having me, and as I always, if you're out there in the audience that disagree with my opinion, you may be right. My view of this topic is that a situation where we have to get some kind of legal authority to take kinetic action, further kinetic action, against Iran. Now, we know that we've been at war with them since 1979, 1980, when they declared war on us. What President Trump's trying to get them to do is to sign a letter of understanding or some kind of agreement that he knows they will break because under their religious doctrine, treaties with the infidels aren't worth the paper they're written on. But once he has that document in his hand and they violate it, then he has the authority to go in and strike. Now, he's also in another – between Iraq and a hard place was the fact that the Persian population in Iran – and Iran's real name is Persia – they are on our side. They are very warm towards Israel, towards Jews in general, and they are under the control of horrendously evil despots. So far, there have been 189 uprisings that are being viciously put down. Yesterday, they hung one of their most popular athletes for criticizing the government, did a public hanging of it. So we're dealing with a tremendously despotic regime  They are trying to dig up their ICBMs, which they put in storage. The atomic material – satellite pictures show them trying to recover that material. Only us and the Chinese actually have the technology to get that material out, so we will need probably their cooperation. Unfortunately, if we go kinetic, we will have to take out the civilian infrastructure. We're talking about mass casualties among people that we are – we feel quite warm to the Persians, a wonderful group of people, and they will suffer, innocent people suffer. And that sits very heavily on President Trump. But sometimes, we're in the same situation we were in dealing with Nazi Germany. We had American pilots and French pilots dropping bombs on French communities that were occupied by the Nazis to get to the Nazis. The French, if you ever saw the movie The Longest Day, there's a scene where a French admiral is telling his ships, the crew of his battleship, this huge monstrous battleship that they're going to have to fire on their own people to liberate France because the Germans had mixed themselves up with the population. So he said, we will be tacking our own communities and we're going to have to make a very difficult decision. You see, if Iran gets the atomic bomb, which they could – very close to getting, they claim they have enough to build six atomic weapons. This was the whole reason this war got started. And they have the delivery systems to deliver them. This could be a terrible, terrible situation for the whole world because they have an apocalyptic mindset that they believe that it is up to them to create an apocalypse that will cause the 12th Emon to emerge from hiding. And that's the goal, the entire goal. Also another bad sign is that the leadership has been moving their families and their money out of the country. Recently the prime minister of Iran resigned and he said – he just basically has given up and he says he has a family. So he himself will be leaving the country shortly. So the future does not look very good. And I don't blame President Trump at all. I think what he did is he did the right thing. He's trying to save the world from problems in the future. I have a good friend who was in Iran during the revolution and he was able to get out. He and his family were there and they were able to get out. It was extraordinarily hairy trying to get out during the revolution. The revolutionary people captured our embassy, which was almost never heard of that you would capture another country's embassy. They held our people hostage. And it was such a violation of everything civilized. And when Mr. Reagan was elected, the day he took office, they released the hostages because they knew they were up against somebody else. It wasn't going to be Jimmy Carter, it was going to be Ronald Reagan and they were afraid and they released them. But I remember at our – I went to a church in Atlanta at the time and when the Shah was in power, these young Persians walked into our church and asked if they could talk to the people. They were pretty insistent. And the preacher, I didn't think he should have, but he said, go ahead. And they said we need America's support in deposing the Shah. He's bad. Less than a year later, they were back in our church. We need help in deposing the Ayatollah. He's bad. And I thought, why can't these people make up their mind? What is the main danger for us if we don't end this regime successfully? The regime needs to be taken out completely. They need to be gone because as long as they're in power and they have access – the most important thing is they have access to atomic – military atomic energy. Not civil because we've offered them atomic fuel. When they – we told them, you don't have to mine your own uranium.You don't have to enrich it. We will supply you free of charge of all the atomic fuel you need. One of the things I could never understand is that Iran has at least four centuries' worth of natural energy – oil, gas, hydroelectric – to go for centuries. Why are they interested in atomic power? Well, they have a perfect right to build atomic reactors if they wish. I don't know whether they are signatories to the Non-Proliferation Treaty or not, but we have offered them – our president has offered them a signed contract to provide them with the fuel for their atomic reactors, much cheaper than going to war with them. I attended university in the mid to late 1980s.  One of our assignments was writing Fortran code using punch cards which would run on the school’s Digital DEC10 mainframe. One day, I noticed a worker entering the computer lab by inserting their badge into a slot on the wall.

I was fascinated by how that room was protected. When Christmas break rolled around, I didn't just head home to rest—I went to the barn to see if I could build my own badge reader.  This served TWO purposes.  First was the challenge to see if I could actually build one. Second, it served as a safety device to keep my nosey younger sister OUT of my shop!

While the old shop is long since abandoned and filled with relics of a bygone age, I am fairly sure that if power was applied to the scanner, it would still work today with the old badges.

So much of modern society is centered around instant gratification, but, to me, there's no substitute for a solution you've built yourself.

This morning I read that Bibi Netanyahu and Mr. Trump had a big argument. Well, that's what friends and allies do. They have spats. Public assistance can't survive without public integrity. Minnesota's "Feeding Our Future" received from $250 million taxpayers, and it was spent on luxury homes, cars, vacations. Not a lot on feeding anybody. In California, EBT theft problems are leaving low-income families without food. What's so bad is the people who steal from the assistance programs are stealing from the poor first, the taxpayer second. They're robbing the widow, the disabled veteran, the single mother, a hungry child. Those in need deserve our help, but they're not going to get it. 
Why? Fraud! And who supports the fraud? Voters who elect Democrats. They allow this to happen, and yet a lot of people believe that Democrats are the compassionate party.

I was talking to her last night, helping to troubleshoot an outdoor receptacle that was not working.  I could tell she had a rough day and I commented that she sounded stressed.  That prompt led her to talking about the weekend and, as the story progressed, she broke down in tears.

My heart just ached for her, but I realize there is literally nothing I can do to alleviate the pain.  As I thought about it, though, I started to realize that maybe just being a trusted ear was what she needed.  In life, we cannot always wave a magic wand and fix a problem or remove grief. Being honest, sincere and caring, can and does help others begin to work through the grief that remains after the funeral.

The Muslim population in America is 1%. Muslim population in Minnesota is around 2-3%. But of the 15 fraud defendants in the May 21st indictments, 50% of them are Muslims. Instead of the vulnerable, hungry Americans who were entitled to these benefits, a lot of those tax dollars ended up in terrorist Somalia. It was accomplished by the help of the Democrats. After the fraud, there wasn't enough money for people who need it, and many of them died for lack of funding.

June is LGBTQ Pride Month. Maybe you remember last year when the Washington Nationals featured a group of transsexuals, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, in their baseball game. The Major League Baseball Executive, Sean Hudson, said he likes to discriminate against Christians. So they had Pride Night and featured the Anti-Catholic Drag Group, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. And now we found out that the leader of Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Adam Westbrook, has just been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to producing and distributing child porn. And it involves sexual abuse on his adopted son, who is only four years old. So is that LGBTQ Pride?

On my first international trip, I was assigned a support role for a machine our company sold to a firm in Recklinghausen, Germany.  I was loving the experience, the Autobahn, the food, the traffic light sequencing and even the challenge of communicating with the plant personnel.  Everything was a new adventure.

That first evening, I got to the hotel, excited, jet-lagged and weary from a full day of work.  I called our engineering manager to give my report while also inspecting the lovely hotel that I was in.

I was not thinking with a clear mind and my boss was amused as I mixed technical details with the amazement of my new digs.  I reached the bathroom and was taking inventory of the facilities when I noticed something wrong.  

I had a wonderful room, a comfy bed, delicious food, fluffy towels and ample toiletries, but suddenly I blurted out on the phone, “They do not have washcloths!”  I learned quickly that things we assume to be normal may not be in other cultures.

The January 6th committee, which supposedly investigated what happened on January 6, 2021, were all pardoned by President Biden before he left office. Maybe because they destroyed evidence, they lied and they hid exculpatory evidence which would have proven innocent a lot of the people who were sent to prison for years. Mr. Trump wants to reimburse the people who lost their homes, their jobs, their families, and some of them their lives for what the Biden administration and a corrupt government did to them. 

Every night on television we hear "Trump's allies he wants to reward for the riots on January 6th." Does the media think that we're all idiots? They keep showing us the same five seconds of footage of provocateurs. But what about the innocent people who lost everything because of the demonic hatred of all-things-Trump from the Biden administration?

I live in Lynchburg, about 60 miles from Charlottesville where a few years ago there was a Unite the Right rally. The Charlottesville mayor foolishly, or knowingly, put the radical right and the radical left in the same area so they could fight. And they did, and a guy from the Unite the Right who suffered for years from schizophrenia, ran over a poor girl from the left, and she was killed. So why did the Southern Poverty Law Center give one of the members of Unite the Right $270,000 to set this up? Maybe it was so the liberal media could say Trump said "there were good people on both sides," which he never said. My black-conservative friend Torrance Stevens talked about racial segregation in the American South that developed after the Civil War. It was the formal system for legally enforcing segregation. It was built by a Democrat controlled Southern states, and it was built by Democrat controlled Southern state governments during the late 19th and 20th century. But what about 2026? It appears that Democrats, in particular black Democrats, are on the side of segregation. That's why they want gerrymandering to protect black districts and give them more voting power. The Supreme Court found that unconstitutional. Why do people think they should be represented only by their own race? Isn't that racist? I was talking to a friend who has four kids. He was explaining to me the “joys” of taking road trips in their SUV, which is equipped with tv screens in the headrests.  

Our family had a 1963 Buick Special.  When we went anywhere as a family, that was the car we used.  Most trips were short, to town or to church, but on occasion, we took longer trips to visit relatives.  On those greater than 30-minute outings, my two siblings and I had an increasingly difficult time behaving.

The Buick had a long, red bench seat divided by two white stripes.  This effectively divided the seat into three parts.  I took the left seat, my next younger sister the right and our baby sister was left with the “hump”.

Unlike today’s vehicles with headrest TVs, OUR entertainment consisted of WHO or WHAT crossed those white lines into someone else’s domain.  I am sure my parents would have PAID for in-car TV if they could have…

A lot of folks don't know that 23 black Americans, and they were the first to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives in the late 1800s, were Republicans. I wonder why most people don't know that. Well, it's because the education industrial complex has been lying to you since the 1960s.Because Republicans freed the slave, because Republicans continued long after the Civil War, promoting civil rights for blacks, and because Democrats continued to suppress blacks, all black voters and politicians were Republicans. While working near Johannesburg, South Africa, we found ourselves slaving over some R&D machines.  When we did have a day off, we got as much rest as we could and tried to schedule in some fun as well.

One weekend, we found ourselves at a Theme Park named Gold Reef City.  It was here that I experienced yet another amazing first.  We stood our place in line and eventually were invited in to the ride.  Mike and I looked at each other and grinned as we walked forward, boarded the aircraft and strapped in.

After a short safety talk, the engines spooled up and the whole airframe, passengers included, shook with anticipation.  Seconds later, we experienced the most surreal sensation of stationary floating.  Mike and I were ecstatic, but the very next sensation was the front of the aircraft falling and the start of forward momentum.  The experience of rising, dropping and seeing the theme park moving below proved to us that the helicopter ride was worth every Rand we spent. I've been thinking about the upcoming election fraud and what my sub-stack friend, Lex Green, had to say about it. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson has never held a job. When she first got into office, she threatened journalists and others if they dared to report on the Somali-owned fake decor centers, which are raking in millions each year from the taxpayers. What do you think of when you hear the term "health care?" First thought that comes to my mind is going to the doctor and getting some care because there's something wrong. In fact, this morning I went to the chiropractor because I threw my back out. I got care and I feel better. Why then is abortion called "health care?" What's wrong with the body and what does the care entail? Abortionists refuse to talk about the method by which that health care is delivered. It's just too gruesome. They're taking a living being. But give it enough time, the pre-born baby will become a perfectly normal human being. It's not going to become something else. All it needs is a little bit of time and the mother's umbilical cord. I'm pro-life, so I think everybody should have a chance to live. I'm also a retired English teacher, and in the case of abortion, I don't think we should use the life-affirming words "health care." I watched a video of a British artist named Jacob Collier.  What immediately struck me was how incredibly talented he was.  Improvising a song with a 50-piece orchestra, including the entire audience and being pitch perfect, was something I had never seen before.  I marveled at the potential this young man has.  He came from a supportive but unconventional family and yet has achieved numerous Grammys while still in his 20’s.

This made me reflect on my own life.  Many of you know we have a rather large adopted family.  As the kids came into our lives, my goal from the very first one was to encourage them to follow their dreams and be the best at that within their means.

Being a parent is such a rewarding gift, but for me, seeing our children all develop in the challenging situations they came from into amazing professional talent was, and IS, amazingly humbling.  I guess that is what parents DO, though.  Our job is to provide the love and structure for our children to find their own greatness.

Every time I turn on the mainstream media news, I hear how we're losing the war in Iran, how Mr. Trump is destroying this country, and how gasoline is at an all-time high. Actually, it's not an all-time high. When adjusted for inflation, it's not high at all, and compared to Europe, it's cheap. But I noticed that the people who complain that they have no money for food or gas will pay $5 for a high-energy drink, or coffee, or junk food, and they'll go to Chick-fil-A and get a $10 plus combo meal. They carry around a handheld device that has a high monthly rate, and they pay for premium movie channels. The nail salons are full with people who can afford to have their nails done, rather than doing them at home. This isn't about high expenses because of the war. Mr. Trump is fighting our enemies in Iran and at home.

Why is it that almost everything the liberals touch becomes coarser, uglier, meaner? From comedy to art, it's all worse. Maybe they're changing things not because they dislike them, because of moral judgment. My dog just walked over and started licking.  I hugged her and we sat together watching the squirrels out of the window.  This brought back memories of my first dog, Tony.  

I was at an auction sale and was maybe about 10 years old, when someone brought a load of puppies for auction.  All of the pups sold except one.  As with all puppies, she was cute and would look at me with those large brown eyes.

I offered the owner $1, which was a LOT for me, and I ended up with a soft new puppy.  My dad laughed as he told the story again last night, and informed me the guy would have given me the puppy, but for a kid at that age, bargaining was unknown to me.

Tony was a great friend and had this habit of showing her teeth when she was happy.  She loved to play tug of war, throw up a paw for a shake or drown me with licks. We spent many years as a team together on the farm.

That was 50 years ago, but her smiling memory will last forever…

I think one of the greatest miscarriages of America's freedom is the 14th Amendment. That is, anyone who's born in America gets to be an American citizen. New York State's Government is exiling successful taxpayers to Florida. So is California's craziness. But Illinois has them beat with its climate change laws that are forcing two-thirds of an electric plant out of the state, ready kilowatt, packed its power plant, and headed for Texas, which welcomes gas-powered electric plants. The company that owns two-thirds of the plant is hauling away the equipment that will generate 900 megawatts of power for Texan. I learned early in life that farm animals were to be cared for but not turned into pets.  For obvious reasons, most animals on a farm are the commodity that the farm sells.  Any emotional attachment would most surely end with heartache.

We had a heifer that we raised and had to bottle feed.  She was adorable as a calf and I ended up bonding with her.  Her name was Babe and she was so tame, I could get off the school bus, walk toward her in the field and she would lie down and let me curl up in her belly.  When she had her own calf, she would bring it over to me and let me pet it too.

We kept Babe as breeder stock, so she was not going anywhere, but I was also keenly aware that I had broken a cardinal rule of the farm.  My fear was realized and my heart broken when Babe came down with a fatal disease called Fescue Foot. She was the last farm pet I had.

While in corporate America, I was honored to run the intern program for our company.  Each year, I would get talented students from local schools and colleges.  One year, I walked into the lobby to meet my new intern and found a bright eyed young South Korean man named Yu-jun.  

As the internship progressed, I found that I was learning many cultural things from him too.  After his internship concluded, his family invited my wife and me over for supper.  We were thrilled and walked in to find a spread of food completely covering the table, all Korean.  His mom must have cooked for DAYS.

The supper went well and as I neared the end of my plate while trying to use chopsticks as a novice, I realized I had no idea how to pick up the strawberries…  I discretely tried to watch what Yu-jun did and almost laughed out loud when I saw him violently stab his strawberry with his chopstick.  To this day, I don’t know the proper method, but the strawberry was good…

One of President Thomas Jefferson's first acts was to free the world from the Barbary Pirates. You know, the Marine Hymn "to the shores of Tripoli." That's where the Muslims piracy was settled. One evening, I received a call from an old friend.  I have known him since he was 13 and watched him go through high school, create his business and start his family.  We always catch up on work and then we discuss our latest off-road adventures.  It was at that point that Gary shocked me to the point I froze in mt tracks.

He was talking about his son Ethan and wanted to bring him over to meet me.  That, alone, was a cool request, but his next line was the rationale.  He wanted his son to meet me and he explained that Ethan was the same age HE WAS when we met many years ago.   This turned the “I wanna bring Ethan over” into a multigenerational pilgrimage.

I have had many honors in my life, but none quite like this and none presented this way.  Gary and Ethan did come to visit and we had an amazing time touring my shop and telling stories.  I never dreamed I had THAT much influence on the people in my life

For the past 60 years, I've wondered why NATO exists and why America was pouring so much money into the defense of Europe. I lived in Germany during the 1980s and there were military bases everywhere. In fact, the town of Kaiserslautern had the largest US population outside the US. But the European members of NATO were not paying their fair share. Far from it. They weren't defending themselves. Far from it. And now they're not helping us with their enemy, Iran. And we're supposed to foot the bill when they won't even let us use their bases or fly across their airspace. I think it's about time we leave NATO and see how they deal with their enemies. I have a friend who doesn't need as much sleep as I do, and he goes to bed much later, and I ask him if he watches late-night comedy. He said, no, it's not comedy. It's just politically correct crap that borders on cruelty.  Jerry Seinfeld's interview a few years ago, lamenting the death of funny comedy. I live in Lynchburg, Virginia, and a lot of Virginians think that our Islamist Nazi governor, Abigail Spanberger, is her own person. She's just another Soros puppet. In the late 1800’s, two pharmacists, John Pemberton and Caleb Bradham, invented competing Cola products.  The Cola Wars have been raging ever since.  As a boy growing up in rural America, none of that mattered to me.  We so rarely had soft drinks that I could never tell one from the other, much less have a preference.

When I was about 10, my dad held a large community event that lasted all day and well into the evening.  The church provided the food which consisted of hot dogs, hamburgers, fried country ham and all manner of baked goods.

When the hot, sweaty day came to an end and we were cleaning up, the ladies at the food booth had plenty of left overs and I was offered TWO HUGE MASSIVE TWO LITER BOTTLES of a blue labeled soft drink.  I could not believe my sheer luck and proceeded to stash them someplace where my sisters would not find them.  In that moment, the cola wars were over for me and I still prefer that brand over the other.

Islamic Jihad comes in many forms. It can be direct like Iran's, where you just kill everybody you don't like, work to develop nuclear bombs, and then kill the world. When Mr. Trump was elected for a second term in November of 2024, it wasn't just about inflation, or the border, or the woke-insanity in our schools. Seems every day I get a bit more frustrated with what the government did to us with the COVID planned-demic. Another dear friend of mine is in the hospital, this time with COVID. After she virtue-signaled that she had gotten all the shots and the boosters every year. Not as bad as four other friends of mine who got the shots and the boosters and died within weeks. Five years ago, my family doctor told me to get the shot. But before I did, I asked my epidemiologist who goes to Africa with me, "Should I get the shot?" He said, "Absolutely not." I said, "Did you get it?" He said, "I'm an epidemiologist. I don't want that stuff in me." 

It grieves me that the government threatened its citizens, shut down churches, closed businesses because of COVID and forced people to get a vaccine that was so dangerous.

I left broadcasting in 1988, trading the transmitter for a career in global engineering. I spent decades solving challenges—from 3d printing concrete to the logistics of Wireless mics in Nepal. But a funny thing happens when you step away from the signal for forty years. You realize the watts and wavelengths were just the delivery system. The real signal is the human story.

Today, the turntables are gone, but I realize I’m still an engineer. Only now, I’m not tuning a transmitter; I’m tuning into the frequency of the human heart. It’s been a wonderful journey from 1984... but the real joy is sharing that long signal with you today.

Over the last 60 years, I've been the manager of several companies, and I was asked often to compromise. I discovered long ago that compromise means giving in to the other guy's position. How bad can that get? We had a joke about the old Soviet Union. "What's mine is mine, and what's yours is negotiable." Some people say they want to compromise with no thought of compromising. 

Iran: We want to kill all the Jews in Israel." 

Liberals: "Can't you just meet Iran halfway?" 

As a practicing Christian, I try to follow Christ, and in His example. Sometimes I'm told to compromise, "because that's what a Christian would do." But then I thought, did Jesus ever compromise? "There are many paths to God." Christians are supposed to agree. Go along to get along?

In the last two days, I've talked to two friends whose sons were perfectly well until they got the vaccinations. Within hours, they went into convulsions and then into autism. I was working on my taxes and I wondered, what are the lowest tax states in America and what are the highest tax states? I just went to Yahoo Finance and learned that Oregon has the highest tax rate of any state. The lowest, Florida, and Nevada. There's no income tax that you pay as tax. Total tax divided by income. Oregon, believe it or not, is 24.4% of the taxpayers' income. Massachusetts, 23.5%. No wonder people are moving to Florida or to Nevada. My home state of Virginia is number seven on the high tax rates. And our Islamist governor, Spanberger, says she's going to raise those taxes even more. Yesterday, I picked up the phone and called an old family friend.  Fred answered after a few rings.  I had not spoken to him since 2007, but as I started to explain who I was, he remembered and said, “Steve, aren’t you Jack’s son?  How are your parents doing?”  We talked for some time and caught up on years of developments.

I always admired Fred and, as an adult, had the honor of working with him on some state legislation.  As we were discussing some of that, it struck me again how acute his memory was.  The more I thought about it, though, the more I started to realize that his gift wasn't just remembering my name, but remembering the specifics of who I was.

Fred is an amazing and honorable man and I learned from him the value of showing respect by not only making the effort to remember someone’s name, but by taking the time to remember things of value to that individual.  People matter and acknowledging that to them earns deep respect.

In elementary school, I was always a solid student, but I was small, slender, and soft-spoken. This frequently made me the target of the more aggressive classmates. When it came time for someone to need an answer, I was the source. But when it was time to laugh at or pick on someone, I was the target. I was aware of this, but powerless to change it. I was raised to be respectful and polite, both of which accentuated the problem. One day at lunch, our class had gone to the cafeteria, but I was lagging behind for some reason. I remember being sad, and as I started down the steps to the lunch room, a firm hand was placed on my shoulder. It was the principal, Mr. Fallber. His words reassured me, and he encouraged me to keep my standards high. Then he said, you will be the kind of person they look up to one day. Looking back over 50 years, I could never have imagined how true his words would be.

I wonder if it bothers black people when they're told by Democrats that they don't have the brains to get photo ID in order to vote. Whites can get photo ID, but blacks can't? Of 195 countries on earth, 176 require valid photo ID to vote. The U.S. Constitution reserves voting to American citizens only, and their citizens can vote - only once. Polls show that 80% of voters, including Democrats, Hispanics, Black Americans, favor photo ID and citizenship verification. And states that have implemented similar measures, such as Georgia's voter ID law, saw record turnout and increased confidence in the results. After the messed up 2020 election, when Biden got more ballots than there were voters? America needs voter photo ID!

I was walking in the woods this past weekend and, as I stepped over a decaying log, I saw something green poking through the wet soil.  It is mid-February here and the Daffodils are just starting to emerge.  Each year, they are the promise to me that the long, cold dark Winter will soon give way to a lush and green new Spring.  In a few days, those emergent plants will regale us with a bright yellow flowers and will soon be followed by other colors as the season evolves.

This reminds me of life too.  Seasons come and go and the world changes, but just as Fall signals the end of a season, the Daffodils point to a renewed but different season.

We all have joys and struggles in life, goodness knows I have had my share of those, but life has a way of renewing things.  Maybe different than they were last time, but NEW none the less.  I hope as your season of renewal dawns, you will be able to see the possibilities that eluded you in the last.

There's a two-word term that suits liberals pretty well, "virtue signaling."  That is, they have virtue because of what they feel, what they think, but it's never based on what they do. For instance, they talk about illegal aliens and how America should welcome them and fund them and educate them and pay for their medical bills and not deport them after they commit horrific crimes. I've personally helped legal immigrants into America with my own money. I had to prove it to immigration with a signed bank statement that I had the money to support the immigrants I wanted to bring in. I had to vet those immigrants, and I expect liberals to do the same. If they want an immigrant here, they pay for them. That immigrant can stay in their house. They can pay the bills for that immigrant. But claiming virtue by making someone else pay for all that?

Last week we finished Black History Month, and I'm glad to see it go because it reminds me of how Democrats have made the black lives so much worse. But there's a reason white liberals wanted to keep the blacks down. Saul Alinsky, who wrote Rules for Radical, said mobilize the poor and use them as a battering ram to take down the system.And the left's strategy is to organize people with low incomes and keep those incomes low, especially members of the black community. The year I graduated university was an exciting time for me as my whole life was starting.  I used to jokingly say it was, “the end of outcome and the start of income”.  

A local family had taken me in and would have me over for Sunday lunch or take me to museums.  I tutored their 5 kids and am friends with them to this day.

With that excitement also came a sadness knowing I would leave the family.  One evening, we were out back visiting.  The dark starlit sky was bordered by large old oak trees.  As we were enjoying this last evening, I looked up and saw the constellation Orion.  I called the kids over, pointed it out to them and explained that if they saw Orion, there was a good chance I was looking at it too.

Years passed and we managed to keep in touch.  I was talking to one of the kids on social media who now works in the Virgin Islands and he mentioned seeing Orion.  He wondered if I was looking at it too.  I probably was.

It shocks me that Americans don't know that the Democrat Party, since 1829, has fought every idea to improve the lives of former slaves. Before the Civil War, the Democrat Party defended slavery, fought in the Civil War to preserve slavery. They founded the Ku Klux Klan, they reinforced the Jim Crow laws, imposed segregation, lynchings, and they fought against the Civil Rights Act of 1866 through 1968, as well as the Voting Rights Act of 1965. All civil rights bills were written by and promoted by Republicans. They were founded as the anti-slavery party.  So for the last 150 years, Republicans proposed and supported each and every civil rights legislation. We've had to fight the Democrats all through this.

Last month, when we learned that the Somalis in Minnesota have defrauded the state out of $9 billion. I was shocked that Americans weren't more angry. And it reminded me of a wife who's been beaten so often by her husband that she doesn't complain anymore. Why is fraud that's killing our country now accepted? The USA has so much fraud that it rivals countries in the sub-Saharan Africa. For instance, let's look at fraud on eBay. Someone sold a computer, received the dough, but never shipped it. The customer complained, eBay kicked the scammer off. So what did the scammer do? He got a different name, address, credit card, account number, and rejoined eBay. Beginning about 50 years ago, I've been able to make charitable donations to the causes that I admired. I discovered that one dollar to a charity that was focused on Christ, and the instructions from Christ to help his people - the poor, the marginalized. One dollar to that organization generally beats about a thousand dollars that's handled by the state. Look at California. The homeless population there is still about 200,000 people living on the street. Why? They're afraid to go into any of the homeless shelters that are run by vicious drug dealers. How much did California spend on those homeless centers? 30 billion dollars.  With no real oversight. But liberals feel good making other people give up their money even though it's going to be totally wasted. Have you noticed how liberals like their egos stroked rather than actually helping people? I attended high school in the early 80’s.  During my freshman year, the school started offering Advanced Science courses and I negotiated with my guidance counselor to skip Biology, take Chemistry a year early and have a science slot open for my Senior year.

The plan worked and I was the lone sophomore taking a junior level class.  Naturally, that made me a target and I found myself the recipient of many of the good-natured pranks that year.

As the school year closed, our class was begrudgingly cleaning the lab. We were organized into groups cleaning beakers and storing supplies for summer.  At some point, Mr. L called me to the supply room to “help” lift something.  When I got there, to my amazement, he had prepared a 5-gallon bucket with water and loaded it with large syringes.

I knew from his smile what his intent was and I carried the bucket out and proceeded to strategically soak my junior level classmates.  Thanks to Mr. L’s insight and humor, I got the final laugh of the year!

Federal Judge James Boasberg of the District Court for the District of Columbia issued a ruling on Thursday that Trump must return all those illegals that he sent back to Venezuela last December. The judge appears to believe that he, rather than the president, runs American foreign policy. Mr. Trump shipped out 137 illegals from Venezuela because they had ties to the Aragua gang, the most violent people on Earth, and the judge tried to block them from being sent back. Judge Boasberg said the government has to cover the costs of bringing them back and that these gang members get to fight extradition. Well, the thing is they're here illegally. It's not just that they're gang members and that they kill people, and they rob and they rape, but they're here illegally. United States Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania surprises me more every day by how conservative and constitutional he is. An article by Michael Smith taught me how cheap Democrats and liberals can be, and they disguise it with total dishonesty. There's three levels of involvement: Sympathy, empathy, and compassion. Sympathy is feeling for someone. You recognize hardship from a safe place, or maybe you vote for someone who will give them money. Empathy, you feel for someone. You have their emotional experience, and you share pain. But compassion is the synthesis of both. It means you observe, you experience, and you act. And acting isn't voting for a Democrat who will make other people give away their money to help somebody that you care for. There's no honor whatsoever in voting for a Democrat who will give away other people's money. But the most selfish of Democrats pat themselves on the back for voting for other Democrats. Transexuals had been making the news lately. In Tennessee, a transsexual who was actually a woman shot up in elementary school, killed a bunch of kids. A group of transsexual men and women tried to assassinate a group of ICE agents, but ended up just killing some illegal immigrants. Charlie Kirk's murderer was a transsexual, and then last week in Canada, a transsexual man who thought he was a woman, shot up a school and killed a bunch of kids and his own family. The media isn't referring to these people as transsexuals. In fact, the Canadian press called the transsexual shooter a "gun person in a dress!" I think they're grasping for straws. But what's wrong with transsexuals? Why are they so angry? And why do they target little kids and Christians?

Question. Is something voluntary if you're going to be jailed if you don't do it? Hundreds of thousands of Canadians can face prison time if they don't turn in their prohibited guns under a supposedly "voluntary" gun buyback program. That is testing the strength of Canada's bureaucratic regime. Since May 2020, the Canadian government has attempted to institute a massive assault-style firearms compensation program that will trade cash, at least a little, for prohibited guns. If Canadians don't turn in the prohibited gun by October this year, they could face five years in prison. The election investigator, Cleta Mitchell, reports, on the morning of November 4, 2020, Rafton-Burger said Trump led Georgia by 103,000 votes with only 94,000 ballots left, but four days later, there were 300,000 more ballots, including 148,000 absentee ballots from Fulton County. That's 25,535 more ballots than voters, more than double Biden's margin of victory. Over 133,000 ballot images were deleted. NONE, zero of the 148 Fulton County tabulators had the required tapes.
