One of those vital keys is stewardship—not just of finances, but of time, relationships, and personal care. He reminds us that money is only 25% of stewardship; everything we have belongs to God, including how we treat others and how we care for ourselves in a God-honoring way.

Many may be surprised to learn that Evva’s very name inspired filmmaker James Cameron in the creation of Avatar—the sacred tree and life force known as Eywa—a reminder that her life story, much like that symbol, is deeply rooted in resilience, connection, and purpose.

Evva was blessed with success early in life. Her entrepreneurial journey began with selling franchises, and what started small grew into something extraordinarily large. Her momentum was unstoppable—until life interrupted the dream. In the midst of selling her company, Evva faced three life-altering challenges at once: a breast cancer diagnosis, a divorce, and the painful letting go of the business she built. That season forced her into deep soul-searching, prayer, and dependence on God.

Rather than allowing adversity to define her, Evva allowed it to refine her. She turned pain into purpose and emerged as an inspirational speaker, author, and founder of Evva International. She often speaks of calling on her angels for protection and guidance, reminding us that even in the darkest valleys, there is always light ahead.

Evva’s courage is deeply rooted in her family legacy. Raised by her grandparents after losing her mother to alcohol addiction, she learned perseverance early. Her grandmother survived unimaginable loss—her own mother was killed during the war, and she and her children were placed in a concentration camp in Warsaw. From this courageous woman, Evva learned gratitude, faith, and the powerful truth that everything can change in an instant—so we must persevere with purpose.

Today, Evva is also the author of the empowering book Evva-lution, a story of coming of age, transformation, and becoming who God has always called us to be. Her life reminds us that challenges don’t disqualify us—they prepare us.

Jerry Pattengale is widely known as one of the two founding scholars of the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., a landmark institution that opened in 2017 and has impacted millions around the world. But what many don’t know is that before the museum, before the White House roundtables, before speaking at the United Nations, before co-authoring books and producing a global docuseries—Jerry was a young man raised in poverty who even experienced homelessness. His life is a testimony that God writes extraordinary stories through humble beginnings. A faculty member and administrator at Indiana Wesleyan University, Jerry pioneered what he calls “purpose-guided education,” a transformative approach that calls students—and all of us—to discover calling through the humanities and through deep faculty mentorship. Their mission is bold and unwavering: to rescue and restore victims of trauma—especially children and women—in some of the most dangerous regions of the world.

For over 35 years of marriage, they have built not only a family—with five children and several grandchildren—but also a legacy of courage. Their work has taken them into high-risk areas such as Iraq, Syria, Gaza, and Southeast Asia, where they have served orphans, widows, and victims of terror, including ISIS.

Their rescue missions are nothing short of extraordinary—including a six-month operation to free a young woman held captive by ISIS for nine years. This is faith in action at its most powerful.

Victor, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and 7th-degree black belt in Keichu-Do, overcame a childhood marked by severe abuse and instability, attending 14 different schools. Colleen’s journey begins in a small town in Alberta, with just one stoplight, where she was raised by hardworking, resourceful parents who gave her freedom, responsibility, and a deep love for the outdoors. She grew up riding horses, learning independence, and eventually traveling the world—backpacking through Australia and New Zealand just months after college, trusting God’s nudges to go, see, and learn.

That same trust carried her on a remarkable leap of faith more than 30 years ago, when she drove south from Alberta to Corpus Christi, Texas, listening to the Bible on tape, not fully knowing where she was going—only that she was called to learn the art of hat making. With no formal teacher, no guarantees, and people telling her she wouldn’t last six months, Colleen gave everything she had to pursue the craft. Along the way, God opened doors, provided help from unexpected people, and made a way when the obstacles felt impossible—even when that meant transporting 600-pound equipment back across borders.

Her path eventually led her to Colorado, where she met her husband—whose family legacy includes more than 80 years of showing cattle—and where her life, work, and calling became deeply rooted in the Stock Show community. Through success, through fire—literally losing everything in a devastating shop fire in 2017—and through seasons of rebuilding, Colleen discovered that her true identity was never in her work alone, but grounded firmly in God and family.

Today, Colleen continues to serve the Stock Show not only through her craft, but also as the owner of a restaurant in the new Legacy Building—helping create a place that honors agriculture, community, and gratitude for those who feed our nation.

Signed as an undrafted free agent in 2004 after playing for the Minnesota Golden Gophers, Ben’s path to the NFL was anything but predictable. Two devastating college injuries took him out of the draft entirely. Yet what felt like a detour became divine direction. When Tony Dungy, head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, reached out—remembering Ben from their shared University of Minnesota roots—it marked the beginning of a remarkable comeback. Three years after missing the draft, Ben stood as a starting tight end in Super Bowl XLI, earning a championship ring as the Colts defeated the Chicago Bears.

But today’s conversation goes deeper than football.

Ben grew up the son of a Methodist minister, surrounded by music and a loving family. He openly shares that in his early years, pride clouded his perspective. A brave high school friend once told him, “Arrogance is not a quality that represents what you stand for.” It wasn’t easy to hear—but it changed everything. His life message is clear: God has a plan for every person, and when we fix our eyes on Him, transformation follows.

Mike (Steve) Rose grew up on a cow farm in Wisconsin with a dream of being on the radio—yet for years, he didn’t fully know who he was. God met him in that searching and led him into Christian radio, where he worked closely with the Green Bay Packers and faith-filled leaders like the late Reggie White. Through a bold leap of faith, Mike became a voice for Christ, authored seven books, and now helps tell the story of The God Squad—a testimony born from obedience and purpose.

From being part of ORU’s baseball program—playing for six years through injury and adversity—to earning his MBA in 2023, Nick’s story includes both success and failure, each shaping his character and leadership.

In 2023, Nick stepped into the world of technology, blockchain, crypto, and Web3, where he now works at the forefront of innovation. Yet through every shift in career and calling, he has remained grounded in this truth: we can either do things our way—or God’s way. Nick firmly believes his company’s success flows directly from staying aligned with God’s will.

Mike grew up the son of a World War II hero, started boxing at just six years old, and faced battles both in and out of the ring. He wasn’t raised in a Christian home, and his college career ended abruptly when he was kicked off the team as a senior. But decades later, at the age of 59, Mike did the unthinkable—he walked back onto that same college football field, reclaiming his dream and proving it’s never too late.

His remarkable journey is now captured in the Angel Studios film The Senior, a powerful story that explores family struggles, faith, and the courage to dream again. Married to his wife Eileen for 53 years, it was her influence that led Mike to a life-changing faith in Christ, shaping the man he is today.

I’m your host, Dr. Chrysandra Brunson, and today’s conversation is filled with courage, calling, and conviction.

Our guest is actor, retired LAPD officer, and United States Army veteran Tom Ohmer—a man whose life has moved from the battlefield to the badge, and from the streets of Los Angeles to the screen.

Many remember Tom from his appearance on the iconic television series Dynasty, starring the legendary Joan Collins. But what makes his Hollywood story so unique is that his acting career began accelerating because of his real-life experience in law enforcement. After joining the Los Angeles Police Department, Tom began taking on police roles in film and television and eventually became a trusted technical advisor—bringing authenticity and integrity to the industry.

After retiring from the police force, his acting career continued to flourish—but not without highs and lows. Like many dreamers, Tom has walked through seasons of triumph and seasons of testing. And through it all, one Scripture has anchored his life:

“I know what it is to be in need… I have learned to be content… I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” — Philippians 4:12–13.

That verse has not just been something he quotes—it has been something he has lived.

In recent years, Tom has been especially proud of focusing on faith-based and family-oriented projects—stories that reflect hope, redemption, and joy. His film Sarah’s Oil has reached an incredible 98% on Rotten Tomatoes and is resonating powerfully with audiences. In Natherius, a faith-based thriller, he is part of a story that leaves people laughing and uplifted. In Judge Leah, he has boldly helped signal to the entertainment industry that there is a hunger for meaningful, values-driven storytelling. He recently completed Meet Mr. Booker, a modern-day romantic film, and in Adam’s Fire—which he wrote, produced, and acted in—he demonstrates what it looks like to take ownership of your calling and create the stories you believe the world needs.

But beyond the screen, Tom’s heart has always been about service.

From serving in the Army to answering the call to protect and serve in the police department, his life reflects a deep desire to make a difference. He mentors aspiring actors, including those connected to the Navy SEAL community, helping warriors transition into new purpose-driven careers. He pours back into his roots in Indiana, returning to his high school to speak into the lives of students—offering perspective, hope, and the reminder that where you start does not limit where God can take you.

In 2019, Eric discovered that the United States had become #1 in child sex trafficking and that most Americans were not aware of this issue. He also learned that many existing anti-trafficking organizations are small, local organizations, mostly operated by survivors of abuse and sex trafficking that lack the means or tools necessary to provide adequate care and make a lasting impact. In response, he recruited a highly capable team to take on this issue and formed Untrafficked®, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with goals to inform, equip, and mobilize Americans to protect their children, stop child sex trafficking, provide direct critical response services, and support existing organizations that rescue, restore, and equip child survivors of this horrific crime. Eric has served as an executive for companies that operated in mergers and acquisitions, aerospace & defense, security, cyber security, threat intelligence, tactical gear, energy, water remediation, consulting, government contracting, footwear and apparel, and retail. Eric was an All-American swimmer, Far Western League champion in Alpine Skiing, and serves in his local church. He earned his education from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and De Anza College in Cupertino, California.
