Cecilia describes mastery as “being” in an effortless flow—like a babbling brook—and says the MCC was not a goal but a moment of release, like an eaglet’s first flight, after which real practice and growth continue. Cecilia Engquist, MSc, MCC, is a Master Certified Coach, certified leadership and executive coach, coach instructor and coach mentor. She is an ICF (International Coach Federation) credentialed MCC coach and also a certified Dare to Lead coach (based on the research of Brené Brown). Cecilia has a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master in Psychology with focus on Organizations.

One might describe Cecilia having a global mindset as she has worked, lived, and studied in various countries on 3 continents since her teenage years. Prior to becoming a coach, her corporate work experience ranged from multinational companies to smaller entrepreneurial firms where she worked with management consultancy within change management and strategic HR. Tracy Sinclair is joined by veteran coach and coach-educator Aboodi Shabi to explore how coaching is evolving and may need to evolve in today’s precarious world. Aboodi shares his journey toward “coaching to the soul,” describing coaching as a spiritual vocation that creates space for authentic humanity, meaning, and purpose beyond performative, goal-driven improvement and capitalist assumptions of “not good enough.” They discuss impermanence, contentment, rest, and the value of being over doing, drawing on ideas like Shabbat and “time to think” silence.

Aboodi has been coaching for almost thirty years, and he has coached and delivered training programmes to leaders and executives all over the world, and trained and worked with thousands of coaches over the last twenty-five years.

In the 1990s, he was instrumental in setting up the UK Chapter of the International Coach Federation, as well as serving on the ICF Global Board.

More recently, Aboodi was a lecturer in Coaching at Henley Business School. He currently works as a freelance coach and coaching supervisor.

He is an Honorary Fellow of Reading University, and recently received a Lifetime Award for Contribution to Coaching from Coaching at Work magazine.

Jayne has a deep passion for the meaningful connections built within the coaching community, both with clients and fellow coaches, and wishes she had discovered this field earlier in her career.

Jayne actively contributes to the Coach Advancement "Coaching with Conscience" initiatives, and she volunteers with cancer charities, providing coaching support to those with cancer and their caregivers. This work is especially close to her heart, as it allows her to help clients and their families live as fully as possible through challenging times.

Janet Wilson has extensive expertise in supporting people as they work to develop skills, knowledge and leadership behavior to lead sustainable improvement and development in their organisations. With a background in business development, marketing and higher education, Janet has worked in the UK, in the Middle East and Africa. Human Being-ness with Andrew Machon

In this episode of Coaching in Conversation, Tracy has a conversation with Andrew Machon.

Andrew Machon is an experienced ICF Master Certified Coach, living in the United Kingdom. He has a first-class honours degree and Ph.D. in Biochemistry and a Master of Arts in Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy. He has worked as a coach trainer across the world in many different countries and cultures. Andrew has also helped major organisations develop coaching strategies and valuable resources for internal coaches. As a visiting lecturer in Positive Psychology at Buckinghamshire New University in the UK, he has taught students about the nature of change and development.

Andrew is the co-author of Positive Psychology Across the Life Span: An Existential Perspective (2020). He has also written several other books including, Guiding Lights – Images and Words Inspired by Aurora Borealis (2019), Appreciative Healthcare Practice – A guide to compassionate person-centered care (2015), The Coaching Secret – how to be an exceptional coach (2010), A Difference of One – Rediscovering a Loving and Creative Originality (2008), and Just Beyond the Visible – the art of being and becoming (2005).

Andrew’s focus now is largely two-fold – firstly, continuing his work as an experienced coaching supervisor working with and developing groups of coaches. And secondly continuing to explore and develop coaching mastery with groups of coaches in retreat settings in the UK and abroad.
