Today we are kicking off our Summer of Stories with an in between episode. It’s submissions, but not quite stories but it’s because we have a guest on that we are excited to chat with. We have Hannah with us today to chat about your motherhood hot takes. Hannah is a coach/speaker/podcaster who helps women redefine motherhood. Karli actually found Hannah after she shared a few times on social media about her thoughts on how motherhood should be a positive experience and we should be sharing about that on social media. She then went on to talk about my thoughts on how my “job” during the day is to watch the kids and help them grow and that she doesn't consider my job during the day to include cooking dinner or cleaning the house. If she does those things during the day, great, but Kyle and she split those equally. After she shared this, multiple people sent her DMs saying she needed to follow Hannah and honestly she puts all of my thoughts into a much better eloquent discussion better than Karli feels she ever could, so we are really excited to have her on the podcast today!

We wanted to have Hannah on for this episode because how people view and look at motherhood can be considered a hot take…. so we wanted to chat with her about her thoughts on motherhood and then dive into the controversial hot takes you submitted.

This week the girls are joined by their friends Jess Tait and Evi Figgat to discuss all the crazy things no one talks about when it comes to being postpartum. Which one of us almost pooped her pants in the middle of the Walmart aisle and which one of us attempted to lie about her mental health at her 6 week appointment and ended up sobbing to her doctor. Jess Tait: Jess is a girl mom to 2 beautiful girls who enjoys sharing simple makeup with other busy moms. She loves chocolate and is obsessed with Taylor Swift. She recently opened up about her experience with postpartum rage to help spread awareness as it is not commonly talked about.

Evi Figgat: Evi is a mom of 2 who shares a passion for mental health advocacy. She is passionate about keeping it real on Instagram to help other moms know they aren’t alone when it comes to mental health. She is also a writer and editor and shares about her life as being an adoptee.

Picking up where we left off last episode, we share our birth stories for our last two pregnancies. Sadie discusses being put on modified bed rest, pre-term labor (again), experiencing a quick labor, and NICU stays. Karli discusses pregnancy after child loss, her water breaking early at 35 weeks, an extended hospital stay, and delivering a preemie. We really have had 4 wild birth stories and we hope you enjoyed hearing all the details.

In this episode we share our wild birth stories for our oldest 2 kids. Sadie discusses pre-term labor, watching her baby be transported to another hospital, NICU stays, and more. Karli discusses VTS (vanishing twin syndrome), being induced due to preeclampsia, almost having an emergency c-section, and giving birth to twins. We both get raw and vulnerable sharing our birthing motherhood moments and we may have even cried together a little bit. Grab your tissues, you’ll want them nearby.

Welcome to the Crib Commute Podcast! We are so excited that you’re tuning in. The Crib Commute Podcast is a fun and engaging podcast for moms who love to bond over motherhood stories.

We will be sharing not only our own personal motherhood stories, but the stories that, YOU, our listeners, write in to help moms all around the world feel a sense of community. Besides sharing motherhood stories, some episodes will also include interviews and chats with influential mothers on a variety of topics along with sharing tips, pep talks, and more!

The podcast will be launching September 1, 2022 and new episodes will drop every Thursday at 7pm mountain time so you can put the kids down for the night, make your commute from their cribs to that mountain of laundry you’ve got and hang out with your new mom friends while you fold!
