That small step became a doorway into Shawna’s world— the owner of Only One Boutique. This Chicago based boutique is where fashion funds families caring for disabled children, and where excellence feels like ministry in motion. We open the curtain on how a storefront turned into a lifeline: the faith decisions, the scrappy wins, and the relentless service powering it all.

Shawna walks us through the moments that shaped her vision: a family health crisis, a chance encounter in Las Vegas that sparked a wave of giving, and the decision to use retail as a practical engine for impact. She explains why she went to Italy to learn shoes at the source, how to differentiate when you can’t out-scale big brands, and the customer experience rituals—intimacy, memory, celebration—that build loyalty for decades. The conversation moves from craft to calling: stewarding what she calls “the baby,” saying no to misaligned opportunities, and training a new wave of entrepreneurs to sell with soul and lead with integrity.

Inside the boutique, every detail has a job. From teaching me to recognize His voice during waking hours when dreams alone would have sufficed, to ministering to me through my own words as I shared with others. The transformation continues as I discover hidden remnants of my past – what I call "grave clothes" – that I've unconsciously held onto, fashioning them into accessories rather than fully discarding them.

The journey extends beyond personal growth into community and connection. Finding not just a church home but transformative leadership that ignites spiritual fire has carved out unexpected opportunities for service. Most recently, a chance encounter at a movie theater while watching "The Chosen" opened the door to meaningful witness with a stranger. Our conversation revealed how we can take for granted that everyone experiences faith the same way, and reminded me that our spiritual overflow isn't meant to be contained – it's designed to water seeds God has already planted in others.

What would your personal verses of Dayenu include? Where has God gone beyond "enough" in your life? Take time to reflect on these moments of divine abundance and share them with others. Your story of God's generosity might be exactly what someone else needs to recognize His work in their own life.

That frustrating pattern of "riding the wave" with inconsistent people mirrors our own relationship with God more than we'd like to admit.

This episode explores the delicate dance between spiritual consciousness and unconsciousness. We often acknowledge God as holy, sovereign, all-knowing, and limitless—but conveniently forget these attributes when they conflict with our desires. We essentially ask God to "turn His head" or suspend His holiness temporarily, forgetting that He cannot stop being who He is, even for us.

Through personal stories, including my journey with sleep apnea and prophetic dreams, I share how I caught myself putting human limitations on a limitless God. When I worried that using a CPAP machine might interrupt my spiritual dreams, the Holy Spirit gently reminded me that God wasn't confined to speaking through just one channel. What began as dream-based communication evolved into recognizing His voice in crowds, meetings, and everyday moments—revealing that the dreams were simply my spiritual training wheels.

The message becomes clear: staying spiritually alert matters. When we understand our place in God's sovereign plan, we realize we can't "mess up" His purposes. Each of us moving in individual alignment with God creates a divine orchestration where He manages how our purposes intersect with others. As Romans 8:9 and 1 Corinthians 3:16 remind us, the Holy Spirit dwells within us, making conscious connection with God always possible.

Ready to wake up from your spiritual coma? Jefferson's internal struggles mirror what many of us experience: proclaiming one truth while living another, advocating freedom while remaining captive to shame, fear, and contradictions. His story reveals the essential difference between external freedom and internal liberation—the emancipation proclamation of the soul.

Season Six taught me that perfection is the enemy of progress, that God's instructions are simple and perfect, and that concerns about approval only add unnecessary weight. Through vulnerability, I've discovered hidden blessings attached to following divine instructions, even when they require exposing uncomfortable truths. This Independence Day, I'm celebrating freedom from shame, from limiting a limitless God, and from the gripping control of perfectionism—each declaration a brilliant firework exploding across the night sky of my soul.

Send us Fan Mail

Good morning. My name is Quan Noel, and I’m excited to introduce my podcast, Vision in the Valley. This podcast is about my spiritual journey, discovering myself, learning about my family and friends, and understanding the unique love language the Lord uses to communicate with me. For me, that love language is dreams. He’s spoken to me through dreams for as long as I can remember, and as I’ve grown older, I’ve realized how unique and purposeful this is.

Vision in the Valley is about sharing these dreams and the revelations they bring. I hope that by sharing my journey, others will find inspiration and insight into their own spiritual paths.

I’d like to start with an intriguing story about an artist at the peak of his career. This artist had a unique talent for replicating well-known works of art on extremely small canvases, like coins or the size of pencil erasers. His dedication was astonishing, as he even used hairs from his own body for the delicate work, and he had to time his strokes between breaths and heartbeats to avoid disrupting his art.

Despite his incredible talent and the beauty of his finished pieces, the artist revealed to a producer that he did not enjoy the process of creating his work. His joy came only from seeing others appreciate his art. This struck me deeply, as it parallels how many of us approach our daily lives. We often go through our routines, whether as dentists, accountants, bus drivers, or artists, without finding joy in the process, focusing only on the end result.

Life is a journey, and the finished product isn’t revealed until we’re no longer here. Therefore, it’s essential to find joy in our daily lives and routines. Even if we don’t enjoy every single day, we must seek moments of joy in the journey itself. For me and my coworkers, work can be challenging, but it’s crucial to find joy in the process, not just in the outcomes.

This realization has changed my life, and I believe it can make a significant difference in yours too. Don’t wait for the finished product to experience joy. Find it in the journey, in between heartbeats and breaths.

I’m excited to share more about my journey and revelations through this podcast. I hope you’ll join me, grow with me, and find your own moments of joy and revelation. Thank you for listening, and I look forward to our next conversation.

Today, I want to share a bit about myself outside of our usual podcast topics. I love shopping—whether it’s for clothes, shoes, groceries, or even party supplies.

Recently, I was on a quest for a pair of boots from one of my favorite stores, which involved visiting multiple locations within a significant radius. After work, I decided to check out two locations near my workplace while chatting with a friend on the phone. Despite using the navigator, I kept missing my destination and getting frustrated. I joked that this was a testimony moment, emphasizing the lesson in perseverance.

Even though it was just for a pair of shoes, I was determined to find them. This determination can often contrast with how quickly we might give up on more significant goals, like pursuing education or career advancements.

On my fourth attempt, the navigator announced, "Caution, you are approaching a complex intersection," which I found fascinating and relevant to our spiritual journeys. Wouldn't it be great if we received such warnings for life decisions? While we don't get such clear alerts, we do get signs from God if we listen.

Identifying your love language with God is crucial. For me, God speaks to me through dreams, a pattern that started in my childhood. I’ve learned to pay attention to these dreams and other signs in my daily life. These signs guide me, even when the path is complex.

So, while you might not hear a literal announcement, be attuned to the signs God provides.

Send us Fan Mail

Welcome to Vision in the Valley.

Find your love language with God and listen closely, as it will guide you through life's complicated intersections and towards your destinations. Thank you for joining me today, and I look forward to our next conversation. Have a great day!

The first was seeking the Lord for perfect balance, recognizing that even ill-intentioned energy won't prosper if one remains aligned with faith. This insight aligns with the biblical promise that no weapon formed against us will prosper, highlighting that the weapon's formation isn't the issue; rather, its lack of prosperity is what matters. This profound realization underscores the need to balance energy and pressure, regardless of their source.

Another breakthrough discussed is the importance of hearing and feeling the word of God. Faith, after all, comes by hearing, and this principle is vital for both believers and those who are lost. The host emphasizes that everyone is on an assignment to speak the word, and this realization has led to significant personal growth. Throughout the season, the podcast has focused on elevation and living better, with the host openly sharing mistakes and the desire for a quicker "bounce back" anointing.

The episode transitions to the workplace, where managing emotions like anger is crucial. The host describes feeling anger and frustration due to workplace dynamics, despite being naturally upbeat and positive. This anger is likened to financial spending, where emotions deplete one's reserves, leaving little energy for actual work. Drawing parallels to childhood lessons on financial management, the host highlights the need to balance desires with available resources, emphasizing that overspending leads to regret.

Inspired by Pastor Hannah's teachings and the rich imagery of spiritual growth in Ezekiel 47, the episode explores measuring spiritual and emotional investments. The lyrics of a meaningful song taught by Pastor Hannah symbolize a journey of increasing spiritual immersion, paralleling the biblical imagery of water rising from the ankles to overwhelming the body. This journey emphasizes the principle of giving as highlighted in Luke 6:38, where generosity leads to reciprocity. By evaluating how much energy and time we can afford to spend, the episode stresses the importance of mindful resource management to avoid "buyer's remorse."

Quan shares personal anecdotes, such as childhood lessons on financial management, which reveal surprising parallels to emotional spending. Growing up, the host and a sibling received a snack allowance, teaching them to manage money without realizing they were learning a lesson. This experience taught the importance of balancing desires with available resources, a principle that applies equally to emotional and physical investments.

The episode also delves into the concept of finding a daily spending limit for emotional and physical investments. This practical strategy helps regain control over personal investments, ensuring that energy is spent wisely. By managing these investments mindfully, listeners can achieve a balanced and fulfilling life.

Quan discusses the importance of managing workplace emotions like anger.

Send us Fan Mail

Welcome back to Vision in the Valley. I wanted to catch up with you guys because this journey is ongoing. It's not about reaching a final destination but enjoying the work, sharing the testimony, and finding joy in the process. Even when I know better, I sometimes get stuck in old habits. This episode is my way of reminding myself to keep moving forward, one day or one recording at a time, enjoying the journey because that is where the blessing lies.

I've had several dreams where I'm in a vehicle—whether it's a car, a train, or a bus—moving at incredible speeds. Sometimes I'm surrounded by people, other times I'm alone. The common theme is the speed and the uncertainty of who is driving. I often find myself trying to get to the front of the vehicle to take control, feeling the physical effort in my dreams. Once, I reached the driver's seat of a bus only to find no one was driving. This recurring dream speaks to my need for control and the overwhelming speed of life's journey.

In one particularly vivid dream, I was on a train going faster than ever before. I managed to reach the front and again found no driver. In my fear, I started to pray. This dream became a breakthrough moment. Suddenly, I was no longer moving at warp speed but found myself in a serene, weightless space with stars all around. I realized I was in space, and the fear gave way to awe. As an astronaut approached me, I reached out and saw my bare arm, understanding that what others need—like a space suit—I did not.

This profound moment revealed that the Lord blesses us as we are, without needing external validations.

So, if you feel unqualified because you lack certain credentials or experiences, remember that we serve a limitless God. He equips us for high altitudes, and His anointing prepares us for the journey. Be encouraged, embrace the journey, and know that you are blessed and equipped for your calling.

The same God who guided me to this point will provide for my needs. I encourage you to stay focused on your purpose, recognizing that challenges are part of the journey.

Remember, when you have a gift from God, challenges (like dirty bathwater) come with the assignment. Don't let these challenges overshadow your purpose. Keep your eyes on the divine gift and discard the distractions.

Stay focused and walk in your purpose. Talk to you soon.

Each of my pregnancies was different, just as every person’s experience varies. The labor pains, not the delivery itself, prepared me for the actual birth. I relate this physical experience to spiritual growth.

In my spiritual journey, I now experience what feels like labor pains when something significant is about to happen. I've heard sermons about birthing greatness, but it took time for me to connect this to my experiences. Watching "Call the Midwife" helped me see the parallels between physical and spiritual labor.

Now, when the Holy Spirit moves me, I feel labor pains: discomfort, pacing, fanning, and controlled breathing, similar to physical labor.
