Throughout the Bible, we see that it is through fasting and prayer the enemy is defeated.

In the book of Matthew, chapter 4, we find that Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil. During those  40 days and 40 nights, Jesus fasted and prayed, and the devil left Him (Matt 4:11) . If Jesus did this, then there must be something quite significant about this action, one that we must take heed of.
