Let’s do this! Birdemic is in the building, ladies and gentlemen! This has been long awaited, and we had to roll without Bryan to get it done.

Wowwie! This movie takes things to a new level. It starts off with lots of time watching a guy drive a rental Mustang and everyone achieving their career goals. A clear-cut happens when birds are everywhere, and everyone is dying! It is ridiculous and entertaining but also a bit sad. The creator of this film felt he put his passion into this and people thought it was suppose to be funny. It was not… Awkward turtles all around!

We also discuss JAD’s endless search for a good fade and reminisce about the “Showdown at BV Corral.” Spenny and JAD spend a minute talking about actual good scifi to interrupt your normal programming. We hope you enjoy the show, and thanks for listening!

Well, well, well, another Van Damme film, this time The Quest. Frankly, we don’t really know what the real plot line was, but it's obvious Van Damme didn’t either, as this was his first film as director. Its something about being a clown on stilts but ending up in this epic fight tournament that reminds you of cheap mortal combat.

The Bois also discuss funny stories, including the show Tanked and Fire Fighters cutting a single wire. The bois also enjoy the fact they are both wearing glasses. I’m sure this all translates into some serious humor.

Bry and Spenny discuss that last summer, they were silly knuckleheads and their failed attempts at lady’s night and the softball tournament they thought they were rocking until they just left.

Episode 40: Black Adam Bad?

This was another listener's recommendation to do Black Adam. Thank you, Zach and Derek. It was surprisingly a really enjoyable film. JAD and Spenny didn’t have much to say about it other than they enjoyed the movie and the visuals. The bois poked fun at a few concepts, like a nanobot girl making tornadoes and the atom smasher being a total throwaway character. However, on the whole, the film was pretty good.

JAD and Spenny continue to giggle about their failed podcast setups and go down a rabbit hole about Raggedy Ann and the lost film they made with buddies in 8th grade. It’s more part of the duo's origins story.

This movie is another fan recommendation from our listener, Doug. We are reviewing Batman and Robin. Man, this is a sequel to Batman forever, but they lost Val Kilmer to The Saint, so they got a TV actor named George Clooney to play Batman. It was his first leading role. Unfortunately, it didn't translate to success. Batman almost met his match this time! He will refund you your money if you tell him you saw it. A couple of new characters are introduced, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy. Both were doctors and happened to have accidentally altered their molecules and given them special powers. Why is Mr. Freeze not called a doctor? No idea. Why do they have endless amounts of hoist batarangs?

JAD and Spenny continue to reminisce about the individual setups for the podcast and the constant evolution. Spenny is mesmerized by the new POV with JAD wearing ski goggles for the episode. JAD convinces Spenny to go for the world record in fastest to uncrust two pieces of farm-to-market sourdough bread from Kansas City while hosting a podcast.

We had an incredible fan recommendation from a show friend, Taylor. Cosmoball (2020). It is a Russian Sci-fi film. The premise is around this game called Cosmo Ball, which is soccer meets Tron. It took the bois by surprise. It is a visually strong film, and the dubbed English and subtitles were another level of entertainment added to this film. The dub only matched the subtitles 50% of the time and was entertaining. It has a space yeti and people with superpowers and teleportation

JAD adds a full disclosure about license plates and discusses his continued hatred of having to pay work to park at work. Spencer roasts him for bringing it up again.

It has weird furry aliens that somehow can shave off colored fur and look like completely normal humans. The bois try to get through this without too much of an issue. Unfortunately, there was an issue this week with our software. We hope you can still enjoy it! We want to apologize for the times we are talking over each other.

Episode 36: Miami Vice on Ice

COLD ZONE! the bois are reviewing the film, Cold Zone. It’s a made-for-TV movie from Canada. A Miami family who vacations to Alaska each week comes up when the world’s largest ice hurricane hits and it follows the ice apocalypse! Their son, Jordan is SOO bummed about not being in Cabo.

Spenny did some work travel and the bois go from stuffing envelopes to talking about the Toot Toot Lounge. JAD tells a TD story about the time he enjoyed less than 24 hours in Florida before getting hit by an ice storm in Florida.

Episode 34: Seagal, Bitch

Seagal is in the house this week, and he could not care less. The film is Born to Raise Hell, 2010. This film proves that Seagal only cared about karate chopping his way through bad guys. This is one of over 185 movies he’s done. Who keeps letting him make these? Spenny points out that he sounds like a whispering Donald Trump. This may have taken the cake for the absolute worst movie we’ve watched all year, and that’s saying a lot.

The bois also discuss Spenny went running and killing himself in the name of Christmas. There is a little run down memory lane about JAD and Spenny when they both were clearly overconfident about something they knew nothing about and got roasted by their friends for being so illogical.

The bois were sick this week, so please excuse our lack of energy. JAD talks about a previous illness, Spenny reads off his resume, and the two comment on the hostile takeover by artificial intelligence.

"I HAVE THE POWER," says HeMan only once in this week's film, The Masters of the Universe. It features Dolph Lundgren, Frank Langella, and Courtney Cox. Gwildor invents a cosmic key but has no idea how it works, Skeletor is constantly looking for someone to love him, and HeMan is the 4th most important character in his film. The bois enjoy dunking and laughing about this one.

Bry has graced us with his presence this week! We relieve two great stories that involve the 3 of us, including the uncrustable party and the "We Can't Just Give Up!" weekend.

Spenny tells a TD story about having trouble sleeping and learning the attempted solution is to use a finger O2 monitor that costs way more than it's worth. Bry adds to the sleep issue with his own TD story.

First off, thank you to Alex Meland for bringing Space Mutiny to our attention. We had a great time reviewing what I can only describe as a dollar store Star Wars.

Consider a future in which the LAST remaining survivors of a doomed Earth ban together and build a colony spaceship destined for a new planet. They are humanity’s last and only hope for survival aboard the ONE AND ONLY vessel fit for the stars, forever ALONE in the desolate void of space and time. Oh. Expect that there are at least four other completely different groups of humans chilling in space, and they all know about each other, but also don’t. That’s kind of a neat future, right? I don’t know. This movie is about a group of people on a spaceship, some of which no longer want to be on that spaceship. That’s about it.

The bois wait around for an hour only for Bry not to show up, JAD and Spenny both tell stories about Bry, except JAD doesn’t tell a story about Bry at all.

Is this the beginning of season 2, did there happen to be a delay on the season 1 production? Well, we are happy to announce that season one continues!

Ever wondered what life would be like if the ice caps melted and then flooded the earth to the point that only Everest peak was the only land as far as the eye could see? No? Well, do we have a treat for you! This week on the podcast, the bois discuss the Kevin Costner film Water World. JAD best describes it as Mad Max meets Catfish Bay. Catfish Bay is a local water skiing production in Sioux Falls, SD, that would entertain the masses during the summer with many water skiing pyramids and corny theater on land.

We also discuss our recent encounters together. Spenny came to visit JAD, and we did a brief recap of the weekend in Nashville. We also discuss a funny interaction with a waiter and, uh, life finds a way.

This episode is a long one! The bois are back from their hiatus. Hopefully, it was worth the wait! JAD and Spenny recap their weekend at a Formula 1 race, discuss their failure to record this episode despite being together, and JAD has them play a weird candy game.

The Bois eventually landed in the film Driven, featuring Sylvester Stallone. The amount of terrible dialogue, CGI, and overall failure of this film is displayed in the episode. We try to keep it light and enjoy some funny commentary and a lot of time trying to talk like Sly.

Next week we will be back to Sci-fi, and in a couple of weeks, the Bois will try to do a live show together again! Will it go to plan? Dunno.

Episode 26: It's Mor(b)in Time!

It’s Morbin Time! This week the bois put the pressure on the film Morbius featuring Jared Leto and Matt Smith. It is a Marvel Comic, but it isn’t in the MCU? It’s complicated, just like this film. By the end of the film, the number of questions outweighs the minutes of the film. Why does Tyrese have a mechanical arm in the trailer, but he is normal in the movie? Why does Morbius seem so concerned about concealing his identity on a bus in one scene, and in the next scene, he’s on display at a cafe? How did he make a centrifuge from a printer?

The Bois explain their failed attempt at the Fat Face Challenge (FFC). We discuss growing up doing lawn mower drag races. JAD tells a story about night driving and being blinded by the light (or lack thereof). We also get into the quick discussion Butthole eyes and cults related to Jared Leto.

Episode 25: Giving up but not quitting

Despite technology forcing us to give up, we’re not quitting! When scholars look back at Episode 25 of the Ascension to Ten Podcast, they’ll ask, “what did it take to publish this episode?”. Our answer: “Everything”. Multiple starts and stops over several days were required to get this out. All to talk about the movie Wing Commander, which is about cats in space. Just so you know, the theme song fades in and out every time we had to reset.

Spenny does hard investigative journalism, sprinted his way uphill to resolve a TD, and had his own cat stuff to deal with after the show. Also, there seems to be a growing dissent among the audience about our censor sound. This week the bois discuss Logan’s Run (1975). Another film based on a book but the director and writers decided not to follow the book at all. The bois felt this film was a jettison for movies that came after it, but they couldn’t remember which ones. The filmmakers did a lot of firsts for sci-fi movies, but the lack of a story is hard to glaze over.

The bois also discuss Queen Elizabeth’s death and end with them discussing Applebees, Marching band, as JAD’s confession of never having BBQ Ribs actually.

After a week off, we go back to basics. Wait, didn’t we do this last episode? Whatever, we’re doing it again. Spenny chose yet another movie that was too good for JAD to make silly comments on, so he decided to make a brand new segment called “Name That Ascension” where he quizzed Spenny on his knowledge of deep show lore. Then the bois get into a rundown of the Predator universe, how Aliens fit into it, but not the other way round, and they talk about Prey for a couple minutes.

JAD went to China again (almost), and (almost) died, Spenny wears a hat, and the two discuss the socio/economic validity of the Laura Ingalls Wilder experience in South Dakota.

Episode 17: Ascensions from Heck

Seems like we died a bit watching this movie, but using the powers of the Ascension to Ten scale, we were able to shoot some ectoplasm at the bummer that is Spawn. Or something. IDK. This movie really stinks. The one thing that Spenny and I remember about it from childhood ended up being incredibly lame. I won’t spoil it. Meh, whatever. The motorcycle scene we remembered looking so cool in the trailer lasted about 15 seconds and then he crashed it. You can probably guess what the bois gave it.

The bois follow a list for the third time, they talk about being tired and spending more time than they have working out, JAD recounts the biggest betrayal from HS and why he’ll never run for an election again, Spenny shares an unresolved TD from the family.

Episode 14: Championship Ascensions

Episode 13: Simulated Ascensions

There is no logical argument you can make that proves I’m real. But there is no doubt that the Ascension to Ten Podcast is real and thriving. This week, Spenny and JAD fall through reality itself only to realize the hole they fell through was in their own subjective perceptions. Reviewing The Thirteenth Floor seemed like it would be an easy full-court dunk, but it ended up with surprising scores, another lecture about JAD’s rating system, and a deep dive into the Simulation Argument. No PEDs (Podcast Enhancing Drugs) were consumed.

Bo the cat keeps providing content, and Spenny’s bed returns to the show.

Also, JAD gave Spenny the keys to the podcast this week. If you’re reading this, he didn’t screw it up. Good job, Spenny.

Episode 12: Beyond Ascension

What do the Chinese Year of the Dragon and the movie Beyond White Space have in common? Nothing. JAD and Spenny asked themselves the same thing and ended up taking a trip beyond the Ascension to Ten rating scale. Don’t worry, clever rounding tricks and some light calculus brought the final review into what you’ve come to know and expect.

Spenny recounts some childhood trauma, JAD takes up a third of the runtime recounting the dumbest thing he’s ever done (don’t worry, it’s not another story about a magnet), and I guess we talk about this dumb movie.

Episode 11: Barfship Troopers

The season of specials is over, and it’s back to normal around here. So at the end of a previous episode, JAD said the next normal episode would be about Starship Troopers 3. Except he didn’t say that, he said Starship Troopers 2, which is what the bois actually review, except they very clearly remember saying Starship Troopers 3. Whatever. Doesn’t matter. Spenny and JAD review Starship Troopers 2.

Spenny talks about his cat again, JAD talks about home improvement, and the episode closes out with Spenny chewing JAD out about his A2Ten rating system, resulting in as big of a fight as Episode 8. Not sure if there will be an Episode 12. Stay tuned I guess.
