She had to pretend to be a 10 years old boy in order to survive with her father in the camp. 
When Rena's father was murdered, she was left alone.

When Yad Vashem, the Shoah Martyrs' and Heroes' Remembrance Authority, was established in 1953 by the Knesset (the Israeli Parliment), one of its tasks was to commemorate the "Righteous Among the Nations".

Marcel was liberated at the age of 10 and walked with an orphanage about 100 kms from Auschwitz-Birkenau to Krakow to look for his parents after the war.

Miriam was very young (3 years) and hid with her parents during the War in the attic of one of her father's patients.
